A private but rugged path right off the backyard drops down to a secluded beach where you can spend the day in the sun and surf or elect to cozy up next to the fireplace and take in dinner and a movie before retiring to the hot tub with a panoramic view of the Pacific.

It was a cute little cottage. The view was amazing! Since pets are allowed, there was a pet order lingering. The hot tub was a great location, however, there didn't seem to be much chlorine in the hot tub so we didn't use it.
It was a good location for doing things around Fort Bragg and Mendocino.
Staff at the Property Management office didn't really say much when I went to pick up the key. I was not impressed with their customer service.

We have visited the area a number of times and this was by far our best trip yet! The house and gardens are charming and magical. We spent most of our time on the deck and in the hot tub enjoying the gorgeous view. House and hot tub were super clean. The bed was soft and comfy and the fireplace was wonderful. We loved everything about Windrift cottage. Our search for the perfect romantic getaway has ended. Only place we will book in the Mendocino area. Can't wait to come back!

This rental was in the perfect locatiin. We (dog included) loved the direct access to the beach and driving anywhere was a breeze. What a beautiful view from the deck, relaxing in the hot tub was divine. This wonderful place made turning 70 special!

This studio cottage is very nicely decorated and clean. The grounds are adorable. The view is amazing. We enjoyed access to the little beach below. The dorm refrigerator was inadequate for our needs and I had to work out of our ice chest as well. Over all we loved this place and will return.

It is a gorgeous setting.
The house is dated and the amenities are sub standard (tiny soap, old worn sheets, etc), but the view makes up for it.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the charming Windrift Cottage for a much needed getaway. It had been raining for several days before our arrival, but the rain took a break just in time! We had beautiful, sunny weather every day!The grounds are enchanting, the cottage very well kept and clean. Tha jacuzzi was so relaxing. The ocean view is incredible and ever-changing. This trip couldn't have been better!This was my 4th time staying at Windrift cottage, but first time for my boyfriend. His favorite part was taking the trail down to the private beach below. So much fun! We will be back again!

We stayed at Windrift Cottage 12-29-23 to 1-2-24. It is a warm and cozy place with an unbeatable view! The fireplace is great, the bed is overly soft but still comfy, and the kitchen has the basics. The path to the cottage is lighted at night. The path to the small beach is fairly easy to navigate. We love that the cottage is dog friendly. Overall we had a wonderful time! Tips for others: be sure and bring a swim suit and or a robe, as the hot tub is pretty exposed. Bring waterproof shoes to be able to cross the shallow creek and explore the whole beach.

Another great stay for 6 days at Windrift Cottage. The view of the Inlet/ocean is incredible! The TV has been upgraded as has the exterior and flooring. Because the space is small, the couch is small to fit. The outside patio and hot tub(new) have a fantastic view. The new refrigerator is an improvement, the stove could use an upgrade. The cottage is close to Mendocino and Ft Bragg, you can walk down to the ocean and hear the waves crashing from anywhere on the property.

Windrift Cottage is a lovely place to get away, enjoy nature and relax. The cottage, gardens and the views are spectacular, much better than the on-line pictures. We prepared most of our meals and had to make a couple of trips to the grocery store (near by) since refridgerator is small. The path to the private beach is fairly easy until the end where there is a big drop to get to beach. The good thing is the need to enjoy all the beauty of the beach; watching the waves, tide rise and fall, birds and wildlife may be enjoyed from the lovely deck and from the inside of cottage including from bed. We plan to visit again in the future. Thanks to the owners for sharing this special place to visitors.

Perfect little place to get away and relax. The sunsets from the deck and private beach were amazing! The hot tub overlooking the ocean was the best!
The town of Mendocino right down the road, was so cute! Loved all the little shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

This trip was planned for our 35th anniversary and it could not have been more perfect! We knew it would be from the moment we got out of the car and walked up the pathway, surrounded by beautiful gardens, to the front door. The cottage was adorable and cozy, perfect for a couple! And much nicer then it looks in pics! Then you step out on the back deck and the view just takes your breath away! Absolutely gorgeous! I really can’t imagine a better view! Again, much prettier then the pics!
Also the location was perfect, halfway between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, easy, short drive to both!
We had a wonderful time and hope to return in the future! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage on the ocean!

Have you ever stayed in a vacation rental where you felt so comfortable, & so... just altogether in love with a place that it felt like home? Like to the point where even after you leave you still think about it with a fondness that makes you wish that you played the lottery (and had good luck) & could someday actually live there? Well Windrift Cottage is just such a place. I know I might sound silly, but once you've experienced it for yourself I am certain that you'll agree. It isn't just the spectacular location, the incredible ocean views from the hot tub (or the bedroom for that matter), or hearing the waves crashing upon the shore throughout your stay that makes Windrift so special... it's the people who have poured their energy, heart, & soul into making it the very best that it can be. You can't help but feel the love while you're staying there!! If you're looking for a sweet little cottage with an amazing ocean view, an absolutely stunning garden full of flowers, and an overwhelming sense of calm & wellbeing... book it today. It's worth every penny & then some... and if it isn't available -- be sure to ask the wonderful people at Mendocino Preferred rental properties for another suggestion, because they have quite a selection of truly special homes to choose from!! This place was worth every penny. It was incredible. An entire experience in itself. I planned on hiking and visiting all sorts of places as my first time in Mendocino county. But this place is an entire experience in itself, so much so that we only left one day. We spent the rest of our stay there. We cooked, enjoyed the fireplace, enjoyed the hot tub, enjoyed the very comfortable bed, enjoyed the deck with a beautiful view (perfect for sunsets), but busy of all the beach access! We didn't need to go anywhere else, we had it all there. My dog got to be a dog and enjoy full freedom at the beach. Every morning she was eager and begging to go down to the beach. Thank you for sharing this magical place with us! We will be back.

The ocean view is incredible and we witnessed so many beautiful sunsets. The setting of the cottage among the trees and landscaping is incredible. The cottage was very cozy for the 2 of us and our golden retriever Abby. They had dog treats and a stuffed animal for her. We could have used a bigger refrigerator but all in all it was a wonderful experience and we hope to return in the future, we love the area.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at the Windrift Cottage and taking in all that the Mendocino area has to offer. The cottage was perfectly situated above the private beach where we could take in the ocean views. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing at the end of a day of sightseeing. The cottage had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. There was a cozy fireplace, the kitchen was well stocked with amenities, and there were great picture windows to take in the ocean views. The cottage was also very private and quiet. We highly recommend the Noyo Harbor and the Slack Tide cafe for morning coffee and checking out the local birds and seals, etc just a few minutes north. We also recommend the Mendocino Botanical Gardens just a few minutes north on Highway 1 too. This is our third year in a row staying at Mendocino Preferred house and we highly recommend their company if you are looking to stay in the area. They are very responsive, friendly and professional and go above and beyond to make sure you have all you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We had a great time. The walkway to the beach was easy for us and we are both in our 50's. The cabin was perfect for two people and a dog (would be even better if a dog bed was provided, since they are not allowed on any furniture. My lab had a hard time understanding the ban!-haha) I agree with others, that the small fridge is hard to work with, but you can make do if you bring a cooler. Also, Door Dash delivers some great food and who wants to cook on vacation anyways! :) We took an awesome hike down the coast and never had to get in the car! Everything is accessible from the cabin. The grounds are beautifully decorated and landscaped as well. We loved all the little figurines on the walkway! Mendocino PVR was great to work with also. Very professional and accommodating. We would definitely stay at one of their rentals again. Thank you!!

Ocean views. Nice walk to beach. New floors, bathroom remodel in progress. Needed soap/shampoo set up. Nicely appointed studio for two. Sit up in bed and watch the fishing boats and ocean. Very private. We are 80 and felt very comfortable with everything. Score it a ten for us😁😁😁 We’ll be back.!

The cottage was wonderful. What a location! I spent a lot of time just watching the tide go in and out and sizing up the waves as they broke on the rocks.
I grew up in Malibu and nothing could compare to your cove.
We had such fun and shared many laughs.
