Fun property for a guys getaway. Fully appointed open kitchen that gives way to a nice living room with fireplace. Had fun with the pool table. Each room has a queen bed. Third bed is a downgrade for that person because loft is difficult to get in and out of. Hottub is nice and where property is located is ideal. I would stay here again!

This is an excellent well kept property with many amenities. Lots of hiking on beautiful mountain trails within 5 mins. My dogs enjoyed the quiet on 4 th of July holiday. Highly recommended!

Great Cabin fairly close to the center of town. Kitchen had everythig we needed, the extra board games, pool table and game table left plenty to do even if we stayed in. Host was very responsive and accomodating.
Yard was great for the dogs to run around in.

I could not have picked a better location to celebrate my birthday. I’m incredibly tentative to travel/stay out of town on special occasions, but John made sure this was an amazing experience all the way through and I will most definitely be coming back. Thank you so much John!

We enjoyed this home as a group of 6 active adults. Overall kitchen was well stocked (but needed some silicone spatulas and hot mits), beds were comfortable. Loft is up a wall ladder. Futon was very comfortable, exposed outside the upstairs bedroom. Loved the game room area and hot tub in the cold at night. Stairs to/from are steep and upper drive was inaccessible due to snow drifts from previous plowing, but that isn't much less steep, and slippery. Main outdoor stairs and decking are going to need some repairs this summer... Parking below is on the street (one parking spot for the home). Will tow if need to plow for snow.

Incredibly comfortable house not far from
the village. We spent the Thanksgiving holiday here and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Fantastic play room with a pool table that my 15 year old son loved. The host made the trip for us. He was highly communicative and offered us an early check in, which we greatly appreciated. I made a mistake on the initial booking and the host was really understanding and helpful in getting the booking corrected. Five star across the board.

We needed a place to unwind and feel relaxed and this property offered just what we needed for the extended weekend. Hot tub was perfect and a warm fire for the nights. Quiet and secluded area that was super close to town so we felt like we could really enjoy all the best of both worlds. Owner made great recommendation with Idyllwild Pizza Co. Thanks for a great refueling weekend.

John’s place was overall a nice place to stay. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us with a nice dining and living area. The game room upstairs was a nice touch. The only thing was that the ac was not very good. We went during a heatwave which I know is pretty rare especially that affects the mountain area. We were not given the pin to control the ac to bring the temp down to a more comfortable range. We weren’t able to sleep in the upstairs room or den bed because of the heat. The place was also somewhat dusty with some cobwebs here and there. However we did have a nice time and the bottle of wine was a nice gesture.

Great place to stay in Idyllwild
3 couples stayed at John’s home & it was perfect for our group. The only issue we had was the loft area. We did not know it was a ladder that leads up to the loft. We ended up using the futon that’s on the 2nd floor. Pool table, jacuzzi & popcorn machine were definitely utilized! Had a great time!!

Roomy, fun but rustic
Chose this property for its closeness to town and trails AS WELL AS it’s jacuzzi.
Upon arriving, was happy to see it was fully stocked with pots/pans/coffee maker, etc.
Great TV and WI-FI.
Large space for a big group and the game room was FUN!!
Decor, condition of the house, and deep cleaning are underwhelming.
Was disappointed that there was no hot water. Messaged the owner but didn’t get response. However, I did not call him as we had a busy weekend.
We enjoyed our time there, however, for the cost, I would not return to this home.

Ideal Getaway Lodge
This cabin is ideal for adults (and infants) who would like a beautiful setting, nearby access to town as well as hiking trails, and a spacious retreat with a great kitchen, relaxing hot tub, and luxurious fireplace.

The place was amazing, it was clean very well equipped and was very conveniently near the town so it was easy to grab supplies when needed. Would be happy to come back again next year if allowed

A lovely trip with everything we needed
John’s home is extremely cozy and warm, with a great kitchen, and all the amenities you could imagine. The hot tub is great, the fireplace wonderful, the game room with so many games! We had a small group of friends go up for New Years and we were all able to relax, cook, and veg out on the couch. Close to town and a sledding area. The avocado green bathroom fixtures and the bathtub were my favorite! Will definitely book again!

Great mountain weather
House is located very central. In the add entrance of the house is not clear. You need to climb lots of stairs.
House should be deep cleaned, carpets, especially couch In the living room
*Living room and rooms needs humidifier air is too dusty in the house

Lovely mountain home
This is a beautiful, well appointed home perfect for 2 couples and their dogs! I especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and the comfortable furniture, especially the beds. We always bring our own pillows but didn’t need them. The bedding was super comfortable.

Beautiful house and total seclusion
This was our second stay at this property. The place is awesome! Big house, looks even bigger in person. Very modern, great fireplace and kitchen. Really close to Deer springs which has great hikes. Endless fun to be had in the rental from games to pool table. The best part personally is the seclusion. The back yard is totally private and you feel alone with the starts while soaking in the hot tub. I would definitely stay here again. The owner John is great and very responsive. Good times!

Great mountain escape
My family and I had a great time in Idyllwild and this cabin. The kids loved climbing and exploring the fenced back yard as well as the dogs. Everything we needed was there at the cabin and the family can’t wait to go back. Hiking trails and nature center were literally a minute drive away. Pool table, dart board, card table and the spa were great and we had fun using all of them including some of the board games. John was very responsive and easy to get a hold of, we hope to go back soon.

Cozy and comfy
Went out to Idyllwild for the first time to climb with the family. Picked the spot for a multitude of reasons: number of beds, pet friendly vibes, location, HOT TUB (great after a long hike/rock climbing session) & open space. The home is super amazing. Everything looks well kept and it feels inviting upon entering. My dog felt at home and didn’t want to leave. The area feels safe and is super close to everything: trailheads, town, and mountains!!!! We drove in at night and didn’t find it difficult to find. Just be pack in a way to make trips easy to and from car to the entrance. Owner responded quickly to questions and inquiries making it super helpful. Made sure was easy and accommodating as possible. We appreciate the stay and will keep the listing always in mind for the next adventure.

Wanted this to work out, got to the property and could not close the bathroom door, the bathroom cabinet was ripped off the cabinet and no where to be found, cigarette butts on the patio table out front, the electrical in the kitchen kept throwing out if you used the coffee machine. I wanted this to desperately work because I had my daughter, niece, sister and husband. I immediately texted the owner was told in this order
-the maid did not tell him about it
-it is a tricky door and needs TLC
-outside smoking is permitted(so I should look at butts)
-he could not get a repair man in time
-now that he remembers it, it worked perfectly and I broke it
You will see no less than 4 reviews that comment on the broken door. I wont go into the ripped couch upholstery, duct tape on dining chair just not what was advertised. I expect honesty and transparency when I pay good money, this was not one of those times. I sent photos, text messages and timeline to VRBO and they gave me the runaround on all platforms. Super disappointed and frustrated. To add insult, I left my chiropractor tools for my back and he has held them hostage, just not a great time.

Eagle’s Rest Earns Its Name!!!
This is a FANTASTIC property! Reading thru some of the past reviews that had criticisms, I think those folks should skip VRBO and stick with the Four Seasons because their expectations need some calibration. We found the place to be clean, convenient located, with great amenities. Yes, there are some stairs from parking to the front door, but these are very manageable and well worth the trade-off for seclusion. Our dogs loved the place as well, given they could roam the largely fenced-in back yard. If you are looking for a place to relax and unplug in comfort, this is the spot for you!

First I want to say how great the owner John is. He was very quick to respond when we had some housekeeping issues. Overall I would say this location would be great for a bachelor party as opposed to a couple or family. I definitely don’t feel it was worth the price for two nights (hence why it would be good to split among a big group), but we did have a good time. We selected this rental because it was literally the only one available after our Vacasa rental canceled our reservation three days before our trip (due to current ICU rates, although they had been that way for weeks :/ ). So normally we wouldn’t have chosen a big, pet friendly home. Pros: The pool table, popcorn machine and magnetic darts were fun, and the spa outside is a great feature. The bedding on the two beds was great. Location was great - very short drive to the village. The fireplace was very cool. Great views.Cons: We ran out of toilet paper the first night, and the couch/carpet throughout the house still had a good amount of dog hair on it. My husband went to the store and bought toilet paper and and I vacuumed the house with an old vacuum I found. The one parking spot is very small- our SUV barely fit without the back end sticking into the street and we couldn’t fully open our car doors because it was so narrow. The bathroom pocket doors don’t close at all. We found around 10 large spiders all over the house (I know bugs are typical in mountain homes but this felt excessive). Couch was extremely stained, although very comfortable. Spiral staircase is slippery. Overall a decent property, just overpriced and not a good fit for us.

Great winter get-away
We had a wonderful time here. Location is great, it's a short walk to Deer Springs trailhead, close to Idyllwild Nature Center, and a short drive to restaurants downtown. Most of the time though we stayed at the cabin, enjoying the pool table, wood fireplace, backyard snow (still lot's on the ground from a previous week), jacuzzi, and general peace and beautiful views.

The photos don't do it justice!
The hosts have thought of everything. The kitchen was fully stocked with spices. A full set of sharpened Henkel knives. Great kitchen for easy cooking. 2 couples, we stayed for 3 nights. It snowed 10" one night, but the road was plowed constantly, and always driveable. Beautiful views from all windows. Heat works perfectly. Nice pool table - a lot of fun. A large, real fireplace that holds a beautiful fire. Comfortable couches and furniture - a real plus. John was immediately available, by phone and by text, to answer any questions. Well lit; well laid out. Plenty of private space for everyone. Everything is totally maintained and up-to-date. We live in L. A., and are looking forward to our return. This home is special in Idyllwild.

Beautiful escape
The views were absolutely amazing from most of the rooms of the house! We lucked out with a snowstorm dumping fresh snow the day before we arrived and beautiful, sunny days for the 4 days of our stay. This place was the perfect cabin to appreciate the beautiful surroundings, both from inside and out. The kitchen and family room were surprisingly better than the pictures represented and had all of the comforts of home. The kitchen was nicely appointed with numerous upscale finishes, nice quality plates, glasses, coffee mugs, and every imaginable utensil and accessory you may want in a kitchen. There were also many non-perishable items left for guests to use and a great selection of quality seasonings and spices. The family room was cozy with a very comfortable couch, a gorgeous fireplace(much better in person) and nice views. There were also numerous indoor games to keep you entertained (a pool table, board games, cards, puzzles, karaoke machine, etc.) It was also easy to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with a jacuzzi, numerous decks and outdoor seating, with great proximity to town, hiking and sledding only a few minutes away. The master bedroom and bathroom were decent size and had some nice features, like the gas faux fireplace/ heater in the bedroom, heater in bathroom, comfortable bed, and good selection of pillows. There were a few less than perfect areas in the cabin that could still use some updating, such as the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, but all in all, this was a very comfortable, beautiful, relaxing getaway. I get a sense that the owner takes pride in his rental and is still in the process of making some improvements. He was very accessible for any minor issues and seemed invested in wanting his guests to enjoy their stay.

Terrific getaway
We had a wonderful 2 night escape at the Eagle's Nest. The cabin is so much fun -- our kids were thrilled by the sleeping loft and pool table, and we all enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings, looking up at the stars! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals -- even a waffle maker! John, the owner, is incredibly responsive and attentive. The cabin is close to some wonderful hiking trails. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our three days in the lodge flew by. It was just what we needed for some fun and relaxation. Played some pool, hanging out in the porch stargazing, hot tub, rock climbing...good times!

Good location, comfortable but hard to find
We could not find the cabin easily in the dark because the house numbers were broken and there were trash bags left in the driveway that obscured the numbers. John said this was not their trash and he had to call the county to remove. The house itself was nice with excellent supplies, but the steps to get to the house were rickety and covered with pine needles, so could be dangerous when carrying suitcases etc up (and we are used to steps since we have a similar # coming down to our house, but they are brick). John had told us the spa was inoperative before we got there, but the coffee maker did not work and we need instructions for the espresso maker. John was very responsive when we called to find out how to fix the heating system (which he resets remotely), bed was comfortable and the pool table and popcorn maker were fun! Views lovely. Relaxing location, near many good hiking trails.

Tiny Ceremony
Because we had to cancel our big wedding bash due to COVID-19, my fiancé and I decided to hold a very intimate ceremony far, far away in the woods. This property proved to be the perfect location!
Though it is not featured in the photos, the front balcony is very spacious, with a nice view and just outside the kitchen, which was very convenient!
Though we loved the place, there were a couple details that could be improved: the downstairs sliding bathroom door did not work (could not be closed), so you kind of had to announce if you were going in to make sure it was vacant. One of the sinks in the upstairs bathroom was clogged. The pool sticks were all pretty stripped (which provided a good excuse to participants who lost). The skylight in the main bedroom is awesome but there is no cover so you are definitely up with the sun!
Other than that, the property was very enjoyable and a lot of fun! We wish we had more time than just a couple days to be able to take advantage of all the amenities the place has to offer. We will definitely be back to celebrate our anniversary :)

Too many steps
49 steps to front door. Not mentioned in details. Several steps looked ready to crack. Handyman came next day to repair. Bathroom doors very difficult to slide open and close. Carpets and furniture had many large stains. Ants in kitchen. Good location. Pool table and backyard made up for interior.

We truly enjoyed this wonderful property. Central to great hiking and the center of town. The hot tub was perfect after a long hike. We will be returning to Idllywyld and Eaglerest Lodge. Thanks Mr. John

Great Getaway
What a wonderful property! Beautiful location, quiet, and fantastic amenities! My recommendation is to park in the upper area (less stairs & easy access to highway). The kitchen was awesome! I totally recommend this property.
