Smell was very musty when we arrived. We opened the windows and aired the house out for a day which helped substantially. The unpaved road leading up to the property is very rough and surrounded by what appeared to be construction equipment and buildings. But the property itself was well kept, clean, and had amazing views out over the Atlantic. While disappointed when we first arrived, we enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. There is a lot of comfortable and attractive seating and group space, the kitchen is large, the screen porch is great, and there are big clean windows everywhere. Sometimes there were seals out on the rocks. Behind the house is a private tidal beach where one of us swam. The very short drive to Erica's and The Dolphin is a bonus.

Camp Bullwinkle is 5 stars all around. There's really no place like it! We enjoyed the shoreline during low tide and watching sunsets from the yard. Inside was cozy yet spacious, and instantly comfortable. Management was super communication through texting, before, during and after the stay. All around a favorite location in every way. Would love to stay again, and definitely will.

When you walk in the front door, you get a full view of Middle Bay. Great location for hiking, eating, and getting lobster and oysters. Very well equipped home.

Lovely stay!
Camp Bullwinkle was well-equipped, beautifully situated and an overall terrific experience. Our only complaint (which was immediately addressed by the property management team) was about the sheets provided by the linen service--too small for the beds and not in good condition. Otherwise, all was great!

Peaceful home with dramatic sunsets
The only surprise was how much we loved our stay. The home was just The right size. The fireplace worked really well on cold night. So many sea breezes. The screened porch was wonderful from morning coffee to dinner watching The sunset. Every thing was spotlessmy clean. Kitchen well stocked. We hope to stay longer next year.

Met all of our expectations!
Waking up to the water view and winding down the day with the sunset over it was spectacular. We truly were able to wind down and take advantage of this peaceful location. Very clean and well stocked. Really appreciated it. A true gem.

My wife searched for weeks to find the perfect house rental for her gift to me of a kayaking and fishing trip to Maine. Because I have a neuromuscular disease and have difficulty walking, she always said that the most important criterion was that there be easy access to the water. She found a number of lovely possibilities, but this house seemed most perfect of all. The agent said that it was an easy two-minute walk to the water, and that we could fish, kayak and swim from the house at high tide. Photos on the rental website seem to confirm this: but the 15-20 foot cliff face drop-off to the water isn’t shown. They say that photos don’t lie, but as we all know, they can be made to lie. Also carefully left out of the photos is the 15-step, steep and curving stair down to the water. The excuse for a railing is a wobbly set of wooden posts with a slack rope dangling between them. The agent said that at low tide the water was about 400 feet away, and at high tide about 200 feet. Not true: at high tide the beach disappears completely, so that kayaks must be manhandled up that dangerous stairway at least once every single day. There is no “beach,” just a bunch of slippery, seaweed-covered rocks (where our friend fell on the first day here), which totally disappears at high tide. We phoned the agency right away, on Saturday, and reached Michaela. She said that if you follow the sloping path on the right, you’ll see an easy way to get down to the water. My wife asked what about the steps? After a moment, Michaela responded, “No one else has complained about the steps.” Then I got on the phone. I believe that at one point Michaela said that we hadn’t asked before renting about the stone stairway to the water. That’s true, and nor did we ask about gas leaks or if the pathways were mined. She said that she’d need to talk with her boss and that they’d call back. Two days later, on Monday, having received no call back, we called the agency again. We were told that it was the boss’s day off. On Tuesday the boss, Heather, came to visit. She said, “I looked at your email, and you didn’t ask about the stair to the water.” Big help. No suggestions for a solution and no acceptance of any responsibility. Heather did let us know that she ran 74 other rentals. I wonder then why she didn’t offer us something fitting our needs. Bottom line: potential bliss turned to disaster. PS We'd be happy to provide photos.

Peaceful
Loved the quietness except for the gunshots we heard our first day in the house. The house was a perfect size for the 3 of us and it was nice having 2 bathrooms. Figuring out how the stove worked was interesting.....as was figuring out that the tv doors in the cabinet needed to be kept open in order to use the tv. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch - that was terrific. I liked being somewhat close to the water and being able to see it from almost every room in the house. There were lots of sights to photograph and the location was perfect with nearby restaurants and stores. It was a good vacation.
