About this house rental
The Pirates Den is centrally located on beautiful Man-O-War Cay and within walking distance to the town center. The house is furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind making it the ideal place to unwind.
This charming house has 3 bedrooms (queen, queen, twin) and 1 bathroom. There is also an outdoor shower which can be used year round. The house has many windows to open up to take in the island breeze but also has several air conditioner units for those hot nights. Ceiling fans help keep the air moving and you'll find you prefer to keep the air fresh. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything to make cooking and eating in a breeze. Dining table has seating for 6 for meals in or for enjoying conversation. The living room furniture is comfortable for lounging on a rainy day or after a long day island hopping. Flat screen TV has cable and wifi is also hooked up as of May 2021.
The Pirates Den was part of the old Nassau Club on New Providence until it was dismantled in 1950 and shipped to M-O-W and erected in 1951. The home is built from old growth pine from the islands. She has weathered all the hurricanes since with no damage less a shingle here and there. The property had the only stone bread oven left on the island from the days of old but it suffered damage in Dorian. We're hoping to resurrect it. The Pirates Den may not have been here in the pirates era but it stood proud on the top of the hill on the edge of the settlement when the first outboard motor buzzed into the Harbor.
Man-O-War Cay is a quiet island with a laid back feel. The pace is easy and the folks are friendly. It is probably most known for Albury Brother Boats, a popular boat found on the Bahamian waters. Restaurants and lodging are not as plentiful on MOW as compared to other islands but that just adds to the charm of this island. With the Atlantic on one side and the Sea of Abaco on the other, the opportunities for boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming and sunning are endless. Boat rentals and golf cart rental are both available on the island.
If you are looking for a simple cottage feel including the sound of the slap of the screen door or a view of the harbor at happy hour this is your next get away destination.

Pirates Den is our favorite Man 0’War Home
I have stayed her with my family twice and once when I traveled alone. Pirates Den will be a home away from home. Man O’ War is our favorite Abaco Island but I hesitate to say that for fear the secret will get out. Who needs Bora Bora or Fiji? I do believe it is one of the safest Va carol spots in the WOrLD! This home is welcoming, an amazing example of a well-crafted island home and fully stocked for all needs. The caretakers and owners are so responsive and anticipated all our needs from all points. Our family travels the worlds—planes, trains and automobiles—I have to say that once you visit this island —you will return—-if you are looking for crowded restaurants and lots of partying—maybe try the resorts—this gives new meaning to serenity! There are plenty of food options at local grocery so you don’t have to shop in MH. There is a wonderful cafe which offers breakfast and brunch. There is also Russells whom are open when the grocery is not and also has prepared food. Man O’War is a dry island but you are welcome to bring your own alcohol. The people are friendly and welcoming.

We had a very good time. It's a beautiful Island. The only challenge was no restaurant to eat any food other than what we cooked. Having the golf cart was perfect. I would stay there again.

Pirates Den should be your first choice for your MOW stay. The cottage is beyond charming with all the historical features preserved but still with all the modern conveniences! Loved the porch where we watched the most incredible sunsets! We are a family of four and had plenty of room! The place was spotless with well-stocked kitchen, linens, towels, etc. We so appreciate our host helping us figure out in advance the logistics! We had someone ready to pick us up at airport, take us to grocery in Marsh Harbor (you do not need to go grocery shopping in MH as there is a great grocery store on MOW-but you will need to buy alcohol in Marsh Harbor), a caretaker met us at the ferry to help with luggage, our golf cart rental for the week was at the dock and our host gave us tips on where to get antigen testing done, etc. This is the perfect place both Pirates Den and Man of War for someone needing to escape the hustle and bustle of the world. Though I will say we had excellent wifi the entire time and cable tv--we nearly completely unplugged but please know there was no interruptions of service on MOW. The people of MOW are so friendly and welcoming. Someone overheard my daughter crying at the beach after getting stung by something and we arrived home with a bottle of aloe gel at our door! There is beach access everywhere in all directions --we enjoyed walking and riding in golf cart & away from cars & noise . I did forget a few times that they drive on the left side. This trip will sit in my heart forever. This is a very special trip for our family as these are our tickets to Abacos from our rescheduled 9/1/2019 fateful day of Dorian. The devastation sustained will stop you in your tracks but what is more incredible is the resilience, strength and grace of the people of MOW. This trip was more than a trip to paradise ; this was a great lesson to our family about the important things in life and how to overcome adversity through faith and community. We travel the world and often but this visit was different. We thank our house host and all that welcomed us!

We enjoyed the quaint charm of "Pirates Den", and felt right at home in this well appointed cabin. The late June weather was unusually hot, so we took advantage of the multiple A/C units to keep the heat and humidity at bay. The owner promptly responded to all of our concerns and Miss Daisy, the caretaker went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. What a great way to reacquaint with the Out Islands and celebrate our 50 wedding anniversary! Thank you, Thank you!
