We chose the house for ease of walking around in and around Bar Harbor. It was lovely. The house is historic and quirky, but comfortable and great for a group. The front porch was a highlight with comfortable rockers. Close to the action but quite quiet in the evening. Beautiful kitchen -- great for our group of 12. We definitely appreciated the off street parking after watching the street parking derby from the porch. I will say it's worth checking into what days cruise ships may be visiting Bar Harbor and planning activities elsewhere those days. It's pretty overwhelming -- really way too many people for the small center of town. I hope for the residents' sakes that some local spending happens b/c otherwise the pain of the numbers wouldn't be worth it at all. Loved the hiking and exploring -- altogether great trip.

We loved being with our family at this beautiful house. Great location

Our family of 15 stayed at Petunia Cottage and celebrated a special anniversary.
The house was beautiful and a great location near the tidal path and also close to downtown stores and restaurants. The location was wonderful for exploring Acadia National Park, which we did 4 times in one week! There is a free shuttle to Acadia that leaves from the Village Green. Our family age range was between 4 years and 74 years. All were happy with the house and location! The big kitchen and countertops made eating and cooking a breeze.
The one suggestion is to place a pad under the carpet in the living room to keep it from bunching and slipping. It was easy to trip over it.

This was our second stay at Petunia Cottage, and it was just as wonderful as the first! Fantastic old house with character and a location that can't be beat. Best part might be the large porch with many rocking chairs ... where we started and ended every day! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Petunia Cottage! The house had so much room and was well equipped to accommodate our large group. The location was ideal, an easy walk anywhere in town and so close to Acadia. We would highly recommend!

Petunia Cottage was perfect for our multi-family reunion. The variety of bedrooms accommodated singles, couples, a family with teens and a family with three under five. There were plenty of nicely remodeled bathrooms, a terrific gathering-place kitchen, and a generous living room/billiard room space. A wrap around front porch with rocking chairs was a favorite. To top it off, Petunia Cottage is in the best location: on a quieter street, a block off Cottage St with its shops, restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. The owners paid particular attention to stocking the house with all the necessities needed for a week’s stay….including two sets of high-end washer/dryers! We highly recommend Petunia Cottage!!

Petunia Cottage is MUCH larger than it appears in pictures. The porch is lovely and my family thoroughly enjoyed the rocking chairs and the view of the water after long days of hiking. The home was extremely clean had every amenity we needed. Double washers and dryers were a dream. So many living spaces for a large group, we never felt crowded. The location is very convenient for going to any restaurant or store in Bar Harbor. The beds were very comfortable; supplies an abundance of linens and towels. Kitchen was very well stocked with various tools and cookware. The den is a perfect playroom for children. The proximity of the land bridge to Bar Island delighted all age ranges in my family (13 months to 70 years). This home perfectly blends the charm of a historic old house with the convenience of modern living.

Petunia Cottage was all we hoped for and more! Before we even arrived, our host Cheri Miceli sent great tips about the home and the bustling summer surroundings in Bar Harbor. Our family vacation (14 of us, ages 6-75) centered around the wedding of our granddaughter! What a beautiful day it was, capped by lobster dinners at Bar Harbor Inn, seaside. And we wanted to hike to our hearts' content in Acadia National Park. The location of the Cottage can't be beat, with short walks to groceries, dining and shopping. We enjoyed morning coffee walking out to Bar Island in low tide and returning late at night to gaze at stars. The rockers on that charming front porch were where we gathered. The house was very clean (!), the kitchen was amazing and we kept the laundry room and dishwashers busy. The pool table was also enjoyed. The home was spacious including the bedrooms and baths. Except for a small den bedroom on the main floor, all bedrooms were upstairs which worked fine for our group. Available parking was a big "plus"! Count us among the lucky ones who stayed at Petunia Cottage.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Petunia Cottage! The cottage is the perfect location to walk to downtown Bar Harbor or to access bar island with a nice view of the island from the porch. We had our large family there (14 people) and it still felt very spacious and quiet. Communication with the hosts was superb even in getting recommendations in advance for the stay. They have a caretaker for the home (Charlie) who is very nice and available if any issues arise. The house has lots of charm with modern updates which makes it perfect for larger families. I would definitely recommend this home to families coming to the area.

We do an annual trip in a different city each year and loved this house and Bar Harbor! Perfect downtown location straight across from the sandbar and walking distance into town. We walked to dinner every night and felt safe letting the 12 year-olds wander. No air conditioning but a lot of fans so didn’t end up being an issue.
We had 13, including 4 kids, and had plenty of room. King Overlord and King Master are especially great grooms upstairs. Stairs can be a little tricky for older folks so watch that. Loved it!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Bar Harbor and wanted to spend our 50th Anniversary with our children in Bar Harbor. Petunia Cottage was the perfect home for us for the week. I have never used Vrbo and Cheri made it easy. She kept in touch and provided us with info of the area. The house was amazing. The right size for the 11 of us. It had all the amenities and above all it was spotless. The location could not be more perfect. Wonderful memories were made.

Our family of 11 had a great time. Being able to walk downtown and to the grocery store was a great advantage. Petunia Cottage is a rare gem of preserved homes. There was plenty of space for everyone. We can't say enough about that fantastic, well-equipped kitchen! Cheri answered our questions promptly and was easy to work with.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We all had a great together. The house, it’s location, and provisions were excellent. You have done a great job with the house.
One question we did have. What is the reasoning for the 9 am check out?

This large cottage is in an ideal location in Bar Harbor. Park your car in the driveway and walk to anywhere downtown. Easy and close access to Acadia also. Wonderful communication, Cheri was quick to respond to a minor problem we had.

Excellent Vacation...I was impressed with the Location and charm of Petunia cottage. While it had old world 1800's feel to the place, with the awesome wrap around porch and wood floors throughout, it also was updated very nicely...a good mix of old and new...we were super comfortable...I would definitely stay there again...

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is large and can accommodate all types of groups. We loved the location and being able to walk to everything downtown, and right across the street to the sand bar.

Loved the place! Great location and the home is very charming. I do, however, feel that sheets need to be purchased to fit the king and queen sized beds. They are too small! Also the pillows are very old and need to be replaced. Otherwise, we loved it.

Petunia Cottage was perfect for our large family vacation. It was perfectly located in downtown Bar Harbor. The home had everything we needed. More than ample space for large extended family groups. Walking distance to excellent restaurants and shops. We experienced all that Bar Harbor and Acadia had to offer. Owner Cheri Micelli was available to answer all of our questions before our trip.

Fantastic Family Vacation Home
This house was the perfect option for our group of 8 adults and 3 children to spend a week in Bar Harbor, Maine. The house was well-located, full of amenities, very comfortable for each family member, and very clean. The host was super accessible, answering e mails very quickly. We loved walking into town, as well as walking down to the Bar Island during low tide. We spent much of our time in Acadia National Park, and enjoyed time relaxing on the beautiful porches after our daily adventures. The kitchen had what we needed to make our meals, and we had lots of room options for quiet time and gathering time. We hope to return to this great vacation home someday.

A Perfect Location in Downtown Bar Harbor
Our family of six (ranging from mid-70s to teenagers) enjoyed our stay at Petunia Cottage. The location is unbeatable as it is perfectly situated on the corner leading to the sand bar. It served as a great home base for all activities, including walking to breakfast (Jordan’s is our favorite), grabbing ice cream (MDI is amazing), biking to the carriage roads to explore Acadia, walking to dinner (Havana’s, Salt and Steel, Paddy’s), and enjoying drinks on the porch. Cheri and team have put a lot of work into lovingly restoring this historic property and was a pleasure to work. I appreciated the updates leading up to our trip, the thorough two-step cleaning process, and the easy, contactless check-in/out process. Thank you, Cheri, for hosting our family - we enjoyed our stay at Petunia Cottage!

80th birthday celebration.
The location is excellent for access to the National Park and so walkable for downtown. Couldn't be better. We loved the large kitchen and dining room for our group of eleven. Three king sized beds for the three couples and plenty of other bedrooms for our grandchildren to spread out. Kids loved the pool table. Lots of seating for tv viewing.

First timers- amazing stay!
3 families, 14 people and this house couldn’t have been more perfect for our first trip to Bar Harbor! We just loved the location first and foremost, but the home itself had such history and charm with many updates to accommodate what we needed. The owners were very responsive to questions/needs and the home has many extras to make us feel we were at home! Would definitely recommend staying here to any larger families looking to spend time in Bar Harbor!
