We did not have to pay the extortionate prices for accommodation in the city centre of Ponta Delgada.
The condition of walls, flooring etc all lacking and tired. The flat needs to be professionally redecorated to meet the basic standards of a home. The island's hostels are better kept.

Owner has 6 dogs that roam around and bark. One dog nipped me as we left in the morning. Poor lighting for night arrival. Black mold in the bathroom. Poor air circulation with no screens on the windows so flys and mosquitoes come in with the open windows. Poor external signage so it is unclear how to enter. Price is way too high for the accommodation. Room and service do not deserve any stars.

The reception was pleasant and the host was accommodating. We were very well received.
The room and the private kitchen were not totally clean. There were insects (living and dead) and the dishes were not very clean either.
A strong smell of dog in the common areas.

We were travelling as a group of 5 people. There was fully equiped kitchen, it was okay to cook in for a few days. The toiletries were there also, towels. Nice electric fireplace, which came in handy, as we stayed there in January and it got cold during evening.
The owners have a bunch of dogs. So be prepared for that and do not book if you are afraid of dogs. Some were a bit aggressive, when we needed to go past them on our way in/out. When we arrived no one was there and we had to wait outside of the door for 30-40 mins for them to arrive and open the door for us. When we got into our room it was prepared only for 4 people - there was 5 of us. We had to ask for extra bedding, towels,… They seemed not to check on how many people booked the accommodation. The floor is really cold during winter months, be prepared and bring slippers, I got badly sick during our stay there. Also there is a lot of mold in the bathroom, the hallway.

If you love dogs — this is a great place. We missed our 4 pups and Joanna and Jack were so much fun to see everyday.
I would have liked to know that the bathroom specifically from this room was detached — ahead of time.

The location is good and near to the coast. We wanted to stay for 1 night on the northern side of the island but near Ponta Delgada to catch our flight the day after. Be aware that you need a car for everything in this part of the island.
We booked the "Large Double Room" (which is 1 of the 2 rooms they offer). You get a bedroom and kitchen with mold on the walls! So much that you could smell the mold in the air of the humid rooms, even with a dehumidifier turned on constantly! The bathroom is not a private bathroom in your room, it is on the other side of the shared entrance. There is no living area nor a garden view as the facility description says. Furthermore, most of the advertised pictures don't belong to the room you get and you don't have access to the garden so you can skip those pictures. Definitely not recommend this room, also not for the rather "cheap" price of 30€/night. For 15€ more you can find beautiful and clean offers already with breakfast included.
Fingers crossed that the other room this house offers doesn't have mold too.

It was very clean and the bath was nice and the whole house with the garden looked quite cute. The dogs were cute.
The road was not very noisy and we slept quite well during the night.
PS: If you do not like dogs you maybe should not come. They can be a little noisy but my girlfriend and I love dogs and did not mind it much. We never encountered the family we were living with though so can not say much about them.
Well the double bedroom has two metal frame beds with two matresses instead of one bed (we wrongly assumed from the picture) but only one large blanket. Became a tug o war between me and my girlfriend.
The kitchen was rather underequipped for cooking but it was manageble. We had no coffee machine even though it said so in the listing which was kinda okay because you can get solid coffee in a cafe around the corner and to be fair never asked the host about it.
We did encounter a lot of roaches (not unusual on the azores, they come through the window and are not always a sign of infestation) but it was just a little too much. We heard them crawling through the ceiling one evening (styrofoam ceiling) and one found the exit I guess and fell from the air ventilator on our table. Not so nice.
The room was quite moist (azores after all) so we needed to open windows more often to circulate the air so bug nets would have been nice to prevent the whole thing (assuming you do not have a full infestation).
The garden and table did not have lights to sit outside after dark (was 19:00 when we were there).

Very friendly owner with a lovely pack of dogs. The room was superbly stylish all well-designed!
It was a bit cold, the hot water in the tubes was not very hot neither

Tiago was a wonderful host who took time to explain more about the island, let me play with his beautiful and friendly dogs and always was there if we had any questions.
The property was a refurbished old building which was now a beautiful house filled with art and quirky little features.

It was a nice, clean, spatious apartment with own bathroom. The staff was friendly and we could use the whole building with all the equipments. There were lovely dogs around. As the bedroom was partly in the cellar, it was a bit humid, but the staff equipped it a dehumidifier and did as much as it can be done to feel comfortable. The town is a bit lonely except for during festivals. Bus stop and the supermarket is just at the end of the street. Silent place, no street noise. They provide fresh towels. Breakfast is adequate with fruits, coffee and tea.
No washing machine installed. After a week our clothes smelled like a cellar. During our stay it was not so unpleasant, and I think that it affected only our appartment. I was surprised that no sewerage is on the island but it is common there. Afterall these inconviniences were not felt during our stay partly because it were not so harsh, partly because the staff was so friendly and nice and the house in general had a very good athmosphere!
