The owner, Jeronimo, was great! He got us into our very comfortable rooms after a late night of traveling. He answered all of our questions about the area and ,with our very limited Spanish, even helped us book online our bus to Colonia del Sacramento and ferry to Buenos Aires. He went above and beyond!
Breakfast would be nice.

When looking for Fauna to check in we inadvertently walked past it because is sits quietly, prettily, and unassumingly on a main pedestrian street in the old city. Fortunately, the owner was returning from an errand, spied us with our bags, and got us sorted. Inside, the hotel is stylishly and eclectically furnished in mid-century modern, and the common space has comfortable seating, a large table with a fruit bowl and a small self-serve bar furnished with complimentary local liquors. Our room was cozy, quiet, well appointed, and the bed was comfortable. Best of all, the hotel is close to several excellent dining options. There is no front desk, but someone is always available via WhatsApp. Fauna was well priced, well located, and well managed, and all told, it was an absolute pleasure to stay there.
We enjoyed everything about Fauna

FAUNA is a very unique property located in one of the most interesting parts of the city. The property itself is very nicely appointed and the staff we interacted with were extremely nice and welcoming.

The place is privately owned by the charming architect that renovated it.
He is one of the rare hosts that support their guests from start to finish, and he does that perfectly - extremely nice and knowledgeable, concerned and conversational.
The hotel is beautifully designed with vintage items and the bed is perfect, with the right mattress hardness.
There are complimentary fruits, mineral water, coffee and even some local spirits.
Breakfast is not served and there are nice coffee shops nearby. These is certainly a place to remember and return to.
nothing

Fauna turned out a perfect accommodation for us. As owner is an architect, interior design is really up to the level, much more than we could expect. Additionally to the nice interiors, owner Jeronimo was really helpful. He was eager to recommend various amenities and restaurants. And he hit the spot for all of them. Thanks Jeronimo!

Stay in an Art Deco house in Art Deco Montevideo is making the experience even better!

Beautifully decorated, loved the entrance hall and the decor of the bedroom and bathroom. Had so many little touches that went a long way! Free fruit, coffee, and spirits in the lobby! Bathroom was super clean and beautiful decor! Bed was really comfy, had good amount of space for bags etc, had tv with Netflix, a kettle and variety of teas. Host was fab, gave us some good recommendations of what to do in the city.
Absolutely nothing!

Loved the warm friendly welcome, like coming home or visiting a close friend. Great style throughout. Comfortable and home-like atmosphere. Great position to explore Montevideo.
Absolutely nothing about the FAUNA not to like.

One of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Cool design - all completely new and renovated - ideal location, comfortable room. Even free fresh fruit and a small liquor cabinet. Jeronimo is an incredible host and I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Very quiet hotel on a pedestrian street. Lovely room and Geronimo is very informative and helpful. We were able to keep our bikes safe in his shop downstairs.

Fauna was the perfect base for my partner and I to explore Montevideo. The rooms were perfect, clean and stylish, and everything was well suited to our needs. Jeronimo was the real jewel of the experience - he was informative, incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt taken care of, had what we need, and enjoyed Montevideo to the maximum.
I have nothing for this section. It was perfect.

The property is a beautiful old building lovingly restored with well appointed rooms. The location is in the old town on a pedestrian walkway an easy walk to everything.
A little more in the morning for breakfast would have been nice, maybe some rolls and jam.

Everything! The location, the room, the super friendly and helpful host Jero, and the daily coffee and fresh fruit treat!
We also want to mention the wonderful driver, Fabio, that Jero recommended! We had a lovely trip with Fabio along the coast. He is fun and full of passion about the places and about what he is doing. Very interesting conversations even with a translation app!

One of the top properties I’ve stayed in all my travels.
The apartment is beautifully decorated and furnished.
Nothing was too much trouble for Jeronimo, who helped with various restaurant bookings and recommendations.
4.9
Property was very well maintained, and Jeromimo was extremely helpful and spoke perfect English!
The property is in the old city. As with most all old, inner cities, there is some level of homelessness that can be intimidating if you aren’t expecting it. However, we had no real issues.

really nicely decorated, great rooms and central location

beautiful building and rooms; comfy beds; spacious bathroom with good shower; coffee and tea kettle in the room; amazingly helpful owners.
everything was great! we loved it.

Easily the nicest hotel I stayed in while in Uruguay. Comfortable and designed exceptionally. Housekeeping was magnificent. I loved the little touches. Very accommodating all round. A great place to stay at the end of a trip, when you need some comfort and nice surroundings.
I’d rather stay in a nicer area but you do have to see the old town. You won’t find a nicer hotel in any other area though.
