Amazing location. Tons of style and personal touches made this stop quite special. I’d return here if I have the chance in the future. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable.

We loved our stay at Finca Petrona. We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment facing the West, which faces the mountain/ pure forest. The view is gorgeous, and because you are facing nothing but pure forest, the nights were very quiet. The apartment is very nicely furnished with a living room/ kitchen area and two bedrooms with each having a queen bed with a full bathroom attached. An added bonus was that the internet was very good, which we didn’t expect since rural areas usually don’t have the best internet. Paulina and Eric were great hosts who provided us with answers to our questions and a delicious breakfast every morning. My spouse suffered from some altitude sickness, and Paulina was very kind and prepared tea for his upset stomach. She also suggested and gave us the number to the local restaurant so that we would not have to travel far for lunch (by the way the food was also delicious). Something we did not expect was that the location was very convenient in that you did not have to travel far for your needs. Yunguilla is a very nice little town with a cute community store with fresh yogurt, cheese, and other products. The restaurant is usually open on the weekend but can accommodate if you call as we did during the week. Also, the town of Calacali is only about 3.5 miles away, which has many little restaurants and four delicious bakeries in the cute town square – “la plaza”. If you want to get away and enjoy nature, we strongly recommend staying here.

I loved everything about this place. The beautiful mountain views, the cozzines, the way every detail has been crafted by the owners to make your stay comfortable.
Be prepared for no Internet or very intermitent connection. If you want to watch movies, you can download them ahead. Is also a good excuse to unplug!

There was nothing better than waking up with the mountain view. After visiting all of Ecuador, I can tell that the best view we had, was in Finca Petrona. The brekfast was good, decent options, also fresh fruits and amazing coffee. The best part of course was the brekfast view on the terrace, from where you could see the whole valley of Yunguilla. The apartment was very spacious, also with a kitchen. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
The apartment was way too cold, we were with a winter jacket during the whole stay. Most of the time it was warmer outside than inside.
The Wifi was so slow, that it was impossible to use.
It was not very practical to use the toilet, because you could not put the paper inside, but I understand, it was en eco-frienfly homestay.

The view from this property is amazing. It is located between Mindo and Quito.
If you have a problem with stairs, I would suggest somewhere else.

Unique, beautiful off the beaten path. Nice walking trails, hostess fabulous. Views were incredible & grounds unique. Fireplaces outside. Breakfast was incredible & made with care. Water & tea given when we arrived (staples).
Bugs, fireplaces not inside, beds terrible: low, squeaky & very hard. Nothing around. No place to eat or get groceries. Regular cooktop not working. Not really in or near Mindo.
