This Popham Beach cottage was in many ways, the quintessential Maine beach house. With its sweeping views, private path to the sand & surf, wraparound porch and lovely bead-board interiors, it felt like a house out of the late 19th or early 20th centuries. However, the fully updated kitchen and gorgeous primary bedroom with attached bathroom made it comfortably modern as well. Our host was fabulous and quick to respond and my granddaughters and I had a perfectly picture-book time in the cottage. We all look forward to our next visit. I would highly recommend this property for small families who want to experience Maine by the shore. 100% worth every penny.

We loved the porch and spent a lot of our time there. Unobstructed ocean view and easy walk over the dunes. You can walk the sand Beach for a couple of miles with no interruption. Great to be able to walk to Spinney's for lunch, dinner or ice cream, the Library and even Fort Popham if you make it part of your exercise routine. Drive up to the Fort Baldwin overlook site where the earliest ship made in America was built in the early 1600s. View of Fort Popham from there was great.
Really enjoyed the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath including the boat tour. Highly recommend.

My recent stay at this charming property was a wonderful experience overall! The location is fantastic, offering perfect tranquility and convenience. Nestled in a peaceful area, it was a joy to unwind and relax, yet close enough to local attractions and amenities to easily explore.
One of the highlights of this property is the beautiful, large deck. Spending mornings sipping coffee and evenings enjoying the sunset was an absolute delight.
I had the privilege of being the first renter of the season, which came with a small hiccup. We experienced some hot water issues and water pressure challenges initially. However, I must commend the owner for their prompt and efficient response. They addressed the problem quickly, ensuring we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
The owner was helpful in pointing out some of the wonderful places in the area to explore and was very responsive to all communication. The beach is absolutely perfection. It is steps away from the house, so you can enjoy long walks throughout the day. I loved the ease of bringing our beach stuff from/to the house without a long walk or car commute.

Been coming to Popham for many years and have rented many properties.
All have been great and we really enjoyed this year’s visit.
House is exactly as listed. Owner is a long time homeowner and has made major additions to a historic property.
Love rocking in the chairs on the balcony overlooking the beach and walking directly to the sand for long strolls for miles on the beach.
Recommend, yes , definitely.

My family (parents, wife and two young children) and I had an amazing week at Popham at the Day’s property! The house was beautiful and the setting was unparalleled. I would strongly recommend anyone looking for a Maine beach getaway to consider staying here … we will be back for sure!

Very comfortable home with all anyone could need to have a wonderful stay in Maine. So nice to have essentials provided. Jonathan was very easy to contact and answered our questions and even emailed information ahead of our trip to help us find great spots to photograph and enjoy. Comfortable beds and the room with gas fireplace was a regular hang out while we were there. Shaw’s grocery store approx. half hour away has lobsters and will steam, fresh caught haddock also. We highly suggest staying here if it is available. We would love to return.

For a truly memorable Popham Beach experience do not hesitate to book this property. In my opinion the best beachfront privacy on Popham hosted and managed by good people who are sharing a family treasure. No regrets just appreciation.

Beautiful property, lots of space for everyone. Everything you could need is provided. The porch is amazing — no better place for your morning coffee, evening cocktail,or anything in between, but Popham beach is the star. I hope we can return.

We just returned from an incredible week at The Day Cottage. The house and location were spectacular and perfectly suited our family ranging in age from 20 to 97! We couldn't have asked for better communication and support from the owner who arranged to create a first floor bedroom for my father which had its own bathroom. Our grown kids and occasional friend guest tucked perfectly into the suite of bedrooms in the original part of the cottage. My husband and I had the glorious, modern master suite with attached deck. We felt like we were sleeping practically on the beach with the breezes blowing through and the ever present sound of the waves. The beach itself is a short distance from the house allowing us to go easily back and forth. We were lucky enough to see hundreds of seals day in and day out right in front of the cottage and up river as well. It is hard to put into words how special the property is but if you have the chance to spend a week there, I would highly recommend it!

Lovely home and Location
Had a wonderful time. Thank you Jon and Linda! Loved the location, and LOVED the renovated part of the home. I know how much work you must have done, and it is really nice. We stayed mostly in that part of the house. :-)

Best vacation in a long time!
The friendly and gracious owners did a great job of coordinating the new modern addition with the original traditional Maine cottage. Very comfortable and all necessities were provided for. Fantastic views of the beach from the beautiful wrap around Victorian porch, as well as the upstairs bedroom windows and deck. We spent day time hours enjoying the beach, including fishing for mackerel, playing in the waves, and making sandcastles; visiting with family on the porch; and exploring nearby Forts Popham and Baldwin. After sundown we'd wind down in front of the cozy living room fireplace making puzzles or reading. It's always so nice to breathe the clean salty air and hear the sound of the waves. The whole family appreciated the most relaxing, rejuvenating vacation we've had in a long time and highly recommend it.

Wonderful relaxing vacation!
We had a great time staying in this home for a week. The views were stunning and the house was a treat. There was plenty of room for the kids and adults and the accomodations were very comfortable. We loved the new addition, but we also enjoyed the older part of the house. It was really neat to have the sense of the original cottage and its history and yet have the comfort and space with the newer addition. Walking to the beach was a breeze and the beach itself was a rare treat. Not crowded at all and it was an easy walk to the state park as well as the old fort and Spinney's restaurant and Percy's general store. We only drove our car once during the whole week and that was to drive to Bath and check it out.
The rocking chairs on the wide back porch were a great place to eat breakfast and there were beach chairs and some buckets and shovels for the kids to use at the beach. The upstairs balcony was a wonderful place to warm yourself in the sun and watch the world go by. We saw fish flying out of the water and seals peeking out of the water.
Overall this place was fabulous! Linda and Jon were so helpful and pleasant to work with. They called the first day to make sure eveything was ok, we greatly appreciated that. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking to relax and have a real vacation.

Beautiful and relaxing
This home is gorgeous, with stunning views. The newer addition is divine. The "old" part is really cool as it's the original home and has all the charm and character of an original Maine beach cottage. The owners were wonderful and pleasant. Not much to do in the area when it's not summer (we went in fall), but we enjoyed wonderful long walks on the beach and the surrounding area and a few trips to Freeport and L.L. Bean. Relaxing vacation!

Lovely house and location
We've been to Popham many times, but this was one of the nicest (hard to top our honeymoon, 25 years ago...). The location is great, not that there are really any bad places on Popham, but being a little further away from the beach was nice in that it was a bit quieter than even quiet Popham. The house was very nicely done and equipped, although we never did find a butter dish (it was easy enough to use a small plate - just seemed a bit odd) and there wasn't much for grill utensils.
The wide porch got lots of use and we spent most of our indoor time in the "addition" where the eat-in kitchen and little sitting area is, or in the living room by the gas fireplace.
We will definitely consider coming back here.

A GREAT WEEK
We are originally from Maine and my dream had always been an extended stay at Popham. This cottage is excetionally charming and a very close walk to the beach. The wrap around porch is wonderful. We spent much of time out there enjoying the ocean view, having our morning coffee, and loving the sunrises and sunsets. We had the opportunity to see an Arleigh Burke destroyer coming down the Kennebec and on her way to her sea trials. What an experience that was. We used the wood stove two evenings that were cold and damp and the house was toasty warm in no time. We made trips to the fort and would recommend Spinney's Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The only negative are the stairs. They would be difficult for someone with disabilities or problems with climbing stairs. Overall, the house is wonderful and we had a great week.

Great Cottage
A great cottage filled with charm & character. It was the porch that first caught our attention. Rocking chairs facing the ocean sounded perfect. And this was a great spot for reading, card games and beverages. The cottage is set back from the beach, so there is privacy, yet is a quick walk to the beach. The dining room was perfect for lobster dinners and the bedrooms catch the ocean breezes. We were there at the beginning of June and did use the wood stove which made it toasty on the foggy evenings. We recommend Percy’s, just down the beach, for lobsters. This is a beautiful spot.
