About this house rental
Welcome to Ocean View Retreat, a haven for your beach holiday. Our property provides mesmerising ocean and coastline views, set in a peaceful bush setting and yet walking distance to Lorne's main street and wonderful beach - albeit up a steep hill. Please note - no Schoolies bookings can be accepted under any circumstances.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Perched among towering gums and located in the exclusive and serene cul-de-sac that is Toorak Terrace, this immaculate 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, 2 living area holiday home offers all you will need to relax, unwind and enjoying your coastal escape. A maximum of 6 guests strictly applies for all bookings (an exception may be provided for infants; please note this in your enquiry if relevant).
Central to the property is the main open plan living area, which features polished wood floors, a designer kitchen complete with Miele appliances, and spacious dining and lounge area, all working their way towards the mid-level balcony that affords spectacular views through the valley to the Erskine River, Lorne's famous swing bridge and the coastline to Aireys Inlet. The BBQ and outdoor furniture make this the ideal location for evening meals in summer, while in winter the morning sun will be complemented by reverse cycle heating. Also on this level is a full laundry and separate toilet.
Upstairs contains three well appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom faces a spectacular coastline view contains a Queen bed, walk-in robe, en suite bathroom and private balcony. The master suite has reverse cycle air conditioning. The second and third bedrooms contain Double beds and built-in wardrobes with plenty of space to hang and store the contents of your suitcases. Between the second and third bedrooms is a central bathroom with shower over single spa bath, toilet, basin and storage cabinet and full length mirror.
The bottom of three levels is the second living area, providing a sanctuary from the rest of the home. Fully en-suited, this rumpus style room has comfortable couches, a coffee table and comes complete with a selection of books and games, as well as a second television / DVD.
Fast NBN wifi internet access is available throughout the property on a reasonable use basis.
The peace and quiet on offer here is matched by the close proximity to the heart of Lorne, which makes Ocean View Retreat your perfect getaway.

Living area comprises 1x3 & 2x1 seat couches, 42 inch TV, Blue Ray DVD, CD player / radio, decorative log fireplace, reverse cycle heating and cooling, deck with views of the ocean.
Full kitchen with stone bench, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, gas stove & oven. Pantry and cupboards with pots, pans, serving dishes, storage containers, crockery and cutlery. The indoor dining area comprises a 6 seating dining table and breakfast bar with two stools. BBQ on outdoor deck with additional outdoor furniture for 6.
Adjoining Laundry room with washing machine, dryer and sink (additional clothes line outdoors), separate toilet.
* Downstairs Living Room
Lounge area with 2 x 2.5 seat couches, 40 inch TV, DVD. Bookshelf with a variety of books and games. Full en suite facilities (shower and toilet). No sleeping facilities on this level, though an optional Queen size air mattress is available upon request (note: the room does not offer block out darkness).
* Upstairs Bedrooms & Bathrooms
1 x Queen Master Bedroom with adjoining deck and amazing views, walk-in robe with hanging space, shelves and drawers, en suite bathroom with shower, double basin and toilet. This room is east facing and contains reverse cycle air conditioning.
2 x Double Bedrooms with built-in robes containing hanging space, shelves and drawers. Windows that open, with tree views.
All three bedrooms contain an electric blanket on beds and a heater for cooler months and fans that can be used during warmer weather.
Central bathroom with shower over single spa bath, single basin, toilet, vanity and full-length mirror cabinet.
Central passage extends from stairs leads to all rooms on this level.

We keep the property clean, well maintained and functional for enjoyable, hassle-free holiday living. We ask that you take care of our property and leave it in the condition you found it, other than for a routine clean and bedding / linen change.
When making an enquiry, we encourage you to ask us any questions you have based on your own specific personal preferences or needs.
We enjoy holidays most when we know what we're getting. As such, here are the things about the property that you may want to know:
- The location is up on a hill in Lorne, meaning you will have either a short drive (1 minute) or a brief walk (5-10 minutes depending on fitness) down a hill to get to the beach or main street. The benefits of the location are the great views and relative peace & quiet.
- The on-site car park is uncovered and big enough for two cars. The driveway is steep, but well engineered. There is minimal street parking, so parking for more than two cars cannot be guaranteed, especially during summer, school holidays and long weekends.
- We do not have 'block out' blinds on the windows in bedrooms.
- We do not provide equipment or toys for young children, so you would need to bring anything you need in this regard.
- Hazards for young children include staircases, balconies and nearby driveways, so parents need to be vigilant and no responsibility is taken by the owners for these dangers. Please ask questions if you need further information.
- When leaving the house on foot, you need to walk up a steep driveway, which can become slippery in wet conditions. If you or your guests have limited mobility or injuries, or inadequate footwear, carefully consider whether this meets your needs.
* Booking Conditions
- The property must only be used for private, residential usage and for the number of guests stated on your Booking Confirmation.
- No functions or parties may be conducted at the property. This includes any hosting meals for more people than are staying as part of the formal booking, unless agreed in writing in advance.
- Our property is not available for schoolies bookings under any circumstances.
- No pets are allowed anywhere on the property (inside or out).
- People may only sleep in the beds provided.
- A strictly no smoking policy applies in the house, including on deck / balcony areas. You may smoke at street level.
- For enquiries more than 6 months in advance, we only accept bookings of 7 nights or more.
- Proof of identity is required to confirm a booking, even if payment has been made.
Not adhering to any of these conditions will be grounds for the loss of your damage deposit, and may result in the immediate termination of your Booking without refund. This is an extremely rare occurrence!

Very clean and comfortable property high on the hill overlooking Lorne. Magnificent views of the sea and trees. Well provisioned house, especially the kitchen. Everything pretty much as described in the online listing, including the steep but very manageable driveway. Great place and stay all round.

Ocean View Retreat suited our group perfectly as a home away from home for a week. We each had our space in the well appointed bedrooms.
The kitchen was well equipped and had enough room to prepare meals. The dining and lounge area were also well designed and spacious. All areas were clean and comfortable.
Beautiful views from the decks.
The driveway is steep and needed some confidence to use. A little too far for us to walk from Lorne but perfect as we had cars.
We have booked our group in again for next year.
It is certainly a home I could recommend for a group of adults.

Unfortunately weather was not good but that is in the lap of the gods. The house was comfortable and well stocked. View to die for and a very quiet situation. Driveway as described was a nightmare but we coped. Otherwise house was in fairly good order and generally comfortable. Would recommend.

Well equipped premises and quality appliances. Very spacious and great old leather couches. We had forgotten how comfortable they were compared to modern lounges. 2 living areas with TVs that would suit families allowing some time out from the kids.
Backing in or out of the driveway could be challenging for 2WD vehicles if wet. The driveway is very steep.

Best place for R&R
We came here to take two weeks’ annual leave and it was the best! Great views, internal spaces, very clean, bath for a good post-surf soak, quiet location and excellent communications with the host. Highly recommend!

Great family retreat
We (2x adults, 2x teenagers) spent two weeks in this immaculately presented property, a relatively short walk (10 mins) to the centre of Lorne. Walking down is absolutely fine but be aware the property is at the top of the hill. Car always an option and we had no issues parking even at summer peak time. Check in process was seamless. Plenty of space for a family, Wifi very reliable, good BBQ. Settle in and relax.

Well equipped with a great view
Perched high on the hills behind Lorne, we found this house very clean, comfortable and with great views. The walk up the hill back from town was a bit challenging but worth it for the view at the end. We would stay again

Idyllic Ocean Retreat
We stayed here in winter and it was perfect for a restful and rejuvenating retreat. The property is situated high above the township and enjoys stunning views of the Ocean on each of its 3 levels including the master bedroom.
We didn’t need to leave the house to enjoy beautiful vistas. Leave we did though and enjoyed winter Ocean swimming and hikes through the forest to waterfalls. At night, we enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire place after cooking in the excellently set up kitchen or on the Weber.
In the morning I sometimes sat out on the deck in the winter sun with an espresso from the marvellous coffee machine.
Tim our host was very responsive and attentive if we needed any assistance.
We thoroughly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay. Kids enjoyed their time. Parking in the drive with the slope was a fun for them to see. The house had big rooms with extra space with sofas etc. great views and heating was excellent as well.

LORNE TRIP
The property is magnificent with a great view. Very comfortable indeed. The big issue we had is access, as we did not receive the code to enter the property and had a hell of a time contacting Stayz and getting in touch with the owner which delayed our entry to the property by an hour and caused considerable stress. It should be said the owner was most apologetic.

Fantastic Property
We went down for a weekend away with some friends from NSW, it was the perfect property for us to relax and catch up. The open space of the living room with a fireplace, the separate levels for the bedrooms and a rumpus room on the lower level - it would be the perfect place for a family get away in the summer or winter. Will definately be back.

The property was in the perfect location with great views of the ocean. Very close to the main strip in Lorne. The house was clean, comfortable and has all the modern amenities. The owners were easily contactable and their were no issues during our stay. Would stay here again

Beautiful location, questionable upkeep
This property is beautifully constructed and in a wonderful location. The views are incredible and you truly get a sense of being on the cusp of Australia’s beautiful bushland and coast. However, the upkeep of the property is questionable. Floors had not been cleaned(dead bugs under furniture and a splatter on the floor in the kitchen), furniture needs a steam clean and dead bugs were found in the downstairs shower. The stove was greasy. Amenities may need some attention - the laundry and kitchen taps leak and sinks fill before draining when the water runs. Considering the price, small additions may have been nice (soaps and perhaps milk). Positively, the beds are comfortable and the linen is nice. Thank you for making this house available to those of us that don’t live near the coast.

Cleanliness of property
Spent the first hour cleaning the refrigerator and vacuuming all the carpet and stairs which were very mucky. The bathrooms were fine and the beds had been changed. I took photos if you need them. The refrigerator was really mucky. Enjoyed the stay.
