FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q) Is the guest house included? Will it be rented to other guests while we are there?
A) The Shasta Suites sleeps 8 and has one bathroom. It is included with the Cabin and is never rented separately.
Q) What is your cancellation policy?
A) As a general rule, reservations cannot be canceled. Depending on time frame and circumstance, owner is willing to accommodate on a case by case basis. Please reach out.
Q) In August how low does the lake get?
A) When the lake is full it has an elevation of 4828 feet. In 2022, it was fullest on June, at 4827.44 feet. On July 19th 2022, it was at 4824.34 feet.
The closest boat ramp to us is at the Donnelly City Park which has an end of ramp elevation of 4817 feet. At the end of August and in September we use the ramp at Rainbow Point, 4814 feet, or the ramp at Poison Creek, 4812 feet.
All of this information and more than you will ever want to know can be found at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's website.
Q) Is it ok to beach or anchor our boat in front of the cabin?
A) Absolutely. Not only is the beach kid friendly but it's also boat friendly, with a smooth, sandy, gentle slope. We have a permitted mooring buoy. Normally we beach our boat during the days and keep it attached to the mooring buoy during the nights.
We learned that it is not a good idea to drive the boat up onto the beach. Instead, you should cut the engine and glide onto the beach. Our inboard/outboard has a cooling system for the engine that sucks water into a network of tubing with the intake near the propeller. Because our beach is entirely made of very fine white silver sand, over time the sand in the engine created unnecessary maintenance problems.
Now, when beaching the boat, we drive toward the beach then, about ten or twenty yards out, we cut the engine and raise the prop out of the water as we glide in. Conversely, when leaving the beach, we push the boat out and lower the prop when it's about ten yards out before starting the engine.
Q) Are there any rules about using the beach or surrounding waterfront?
A) On Lake Cascade the beaches are public. Of course, as a guest at the cabin, you have direct access to the beach. If you are not staying at the cabin, but at another lot in the interior, you cannot trespass on the lakefront lots to get to the beach. You can legally get to any beach by boat or by land using an access lot. There are a couple of such access lots nearby to the north and to the south of us. We pay a membership to help maintain the one to the south. It has picnic tables, a fire pit, etc. and a beach.
Q) What would be the closest boat launch?
A) That would be the Donnelly City Park which is one mile or three minutes.
Late in the season when the water is low we sometimes use Rainbow Point. It is on the other side of the lake and is 5.6 miles or twelve minutes. Rainbow Point is only two miles by boat, however.
We sometimes use, but only at extremely low water, Poison Creek which is 8.2 miles or 17 minutes. It is the campground closest to the Tamarack Resort on the other side of the lake and to the south of us.
Q) Is there enough room for parking a boat trailer, snowmobile trailer, motorcycle trailer, etc.?
A) Yes. There should be ample parking. We put in a circle drive in the fall of 2019!
Q) Are kids ok?
A) Absolutely. The cabin was made for kids of all ages.
Q) Can we invite our friends up?
A) You are welcome to have up to a total of 12 people on the property.
Q) What are the rules?
A) Just the usual rules. You and all guests must obey all laws. Smoking anywhere on the premises is prohibited. You are responsible for any damage that occurs during your stay. Be sensitive to the neighbors after the sun goes down. Suggested quiet hours are 10pm-7am. No on street parking.
Q) Where can you rent boats?
A) We highly recommend Mountain Meadow Adventure rentals. They are a 9 minute drive from the cabin (4 minutes on the lake) on the way to Tamarack. It is a family business and Ben and Rachel are super nice. If they are not busy they will bring the boat/jet ski right to the cabin's beach!
Q) Is there a barbecue grill available?
A) Yes. We have a standard sized propane BBQ grill available for use on the deck.
Q) Are there enough pots and pans for a large family or do we have to bring our own?
A) The kitchen is fully equipped. If you have some specialty items or need to use an extra large pot, you may want to bring a few things of your own from home, but we have everything you normally need waiting for you in the cabin.
Q) Do you have life jackets we can use?
A) You will need to bring your own life jackets.
Q) Can we have an early check-in and/or a late check-out?
A) Let us know if you need or want to have extra time before or after the usual 11 a.m. check-out and 4 p.m. check-in time. When we can accommodate you, we will. It all depends on our housekeepers and how tightly our reservations are scheduled.
Guests have full access to the Main Cabin and the Shasta Suites.
I am always available by cell phone if you need anything. I live in Eagle, about 94 mi away.

This home will not disappoint. We have an annual girls weekend (20 years+). This is our favorite hands down! Everything you need, or could want is there. We had plans to eat out one night but just couldn’t do it. We were in PARADISE!!! No need to leave! We will definitely be back.

It Doesn’t Get Any Better
This home was like living in a dream. It is situated on a quiet part of the lake and offered a lot of privacy.
Kelly, the host, was extremely organized and had everything labeled in the house. She was quick to respond to any questions, which was nice too.
The house was clean, and we felt right at home. It was like coming home to your parent’s house that has everything you could possibly need, but you still need to do all of your own laundry and cooking. We stayed there for 9 nights and cooked every meal at home. There wasn’t one time when we needed something that wasn’t there.
The views were wonderful, and we enjoyed cruising around on the lake. The outside covered porch was fun to sit in, especially since we had a couple days of rain.
We are already making plans to come back next summer.

Perfect Vacation Rental!!
This property is gorgeous! Great lake access for fishing and fun! The Shasta Suites cabin made traveling with adult children and their partners very easy and comfortable for everyone. The main cabin had plenty of room for meals and family movie/game nights. Everything was clearly labeled and there were instructions on how to work everything, which was great! Loved the extras like binoculars and flashlights. Kelly truly thought of everything to make her guests feel welcome and comfortable. Would absolutely stay again!!

The space and location are outstanding, with a nice beach area and a very large outdoor patio. Kelly was a great host and her thoughtfulness was the cherry on top. We booked another weekend here before we had finished our stay, and we can't wait to come back.

Perfect
We stayed the last weekend of August to celebrate my MIL’s 70th birthday. The beach was great! We brought our paddle board and several other floaters. The kids entertained themselves all day long playing in the sand and water. I love that there is a hose at the top of the stairs to spray sandy feet. The kitchen was pleasantly well equipped. Beds are comfortable and there is great outdoor space for eating and playing games. We will definitely book again!

On the Lake
This was the perfect location for our family, right on the lake, plenty of beach. There is no dock but we were able to anchor both the boat and jet ski in the water with no worries. This is an older home but it has all the amenities with plenty of beds for everyone. We had 10 people in the group. We are looking forward to next year.

Great cabin. Great location.
Kelly, thank you for sharing your family’s cabin with us. We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. The kids had a wonderful time sledding out the back porch and spent a majority of the time doing that.
The cabin layout and set up is great. Not to mention the detached “cabin”, it was awesome.
Thank you again for your hospitality. It was a pleasure to meet you both.

Great space outdoors for everyone to be together or have a quiet time by yourself. Best stocked kitchen ever of all the vrbo’s we Have ever visited. Kids and adults alike loved the rock scavenger hunt. Somebody has some serious talent and a neat hobby.
Would definitely love to go back!

Excellent Beach Location
Our annual family vacation was a huge success! There were 10 of us. The home is large enough to accomodate a large group. We had plenty of seating inside and out. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep! The owners were great answering questions and provide lots of extras like towels for the beach, fans to help keep it cool, a laundry and so much more. It is an older home but it is well maintained and clean. The beach was excellent. It was easily accessible for our 70+ years, and had lots of shade for those of us that tend to burn in the summer. There was seating and a fire pit for the kiddos to make smores. We took a boat, jet ski and paddle boards. We tied the boat to a bouy and beached the jet ski and anchored it overnight. We stored the paddle boards and other toys on the beach and felt safe in doing so. Wish we had found this place years ago.....We cant wait for next year!

Perfect lake cabin for the whole family
The pictures do not do this cabin justice. Every single member of my family fell in love with this property and have requested we come back for a week next year. The cabin is well stocked, there are the most adorable painted rocks cleverly placed around the property that my little ones loved picking out the best one as a memento, the beach is clean and steps from the cabin. It was the best mini retreat for my family and we plan on making this an annual trip!

Property was well stocked with everything we needed, beds were very comfortable, and the house was clean and cozy. Loved the fireplace for the cool evenings. The sandy beachfront was perfect for our kayaks and for beaching our boat. We didn’t want to leave!!
