It was the perfect location, away from noise, safe, and comfortable to stay in. I'll be coming back to stay again!
4.0
I would start by saying that all of the other reviews are spot on in terms of the spaciousness, design, cleanliness, comfortable beds and the spectacular views from the property. It is a very peaceful oasis and a great central location to take day trips to the important sites of the Valley. If you are looking for a self-catering property to prepare your own dinners, I would not recommend it. It has a very lightly stocked kitchen and missing a number of very basic items, i.e. wine opener. Further there aren't really any reasonably sized supermarkets nearby, and although there are a number of mini-markets, and a central food market, it takes some navigating to find and park. This leaves eating out at restaurants and hiring in catering as the best options. It is possible to walk into town but with the numbers of intimidating stray dogs about, it is not recommended at night although there's plenty of tuk tuks to take which are great fun AND value. Urubamba is a great central location in the valley, but the town itself, when compared to the prettier, more touristy neighbors of Pisac and Ollytaytambo, is somewhat grittier and a working town, but vibrant and we always felt safe. Note that the strict cancellation policy is indeed strict and when we had a couple of dropouts, we were unable to even move our stay to a later date, so do take it seriously. Therefore, there were only two of us, which is why we may have had a little less attention. We requested an early breakfast at 7:15 on our Macchu Pichu date which never arrived and another night we requested a fire which was never made either, although we had texted instructions in Spanish as previously agreed.. All of this said, it is a truly special location and with pre-arranged tours and meals it is the perfect choice for a group, especially if able to combine with the other villa on the property.

We stayed at Kantu Wasi for five nights. The house was beautiful and clean. Ideal for a family of two adults and 4 adult children. Raul and Margarite the caretakers were helpful and accommodating. Hernan and Mone were incredibly helpful setting up our drivers, Matchu Picchu tickets and restaurant recommendations. We would have been overwhelmed without their help. We highly recommend a stay at The Villa Taya at Kantu Wasi when planing a stay in the sacred valley.

Great House Staff!
The house is located on a beautifully landscaped property. Raul and Margarita who are the house staff ensured our arrival was seamless and our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The house has 4 true bedrooms and 3 en suite bathrooms, with the 4th bathroom split between the upstairs family room (shower) and downstairs entry (toilet). It worked well for our group. We also utilized the organized tours and booked through Hernan the owner who assisted with booking advice leading up to our arrival. Each tour arranged was to our request and provided a great experience. The house is near downtown Urubamba. Thank you to Hernan, Raul, and Margarita for a great stay!

My family (2 children aged 12 & 8) stayed here in April 2022. It was fair but overpriced. The photos are more flattering than the reality. Urubamba is not a particularly charming town and it’s neither a good launching point for the Sacred Valley nor close enough to be convenient for the trek or railhead to Machu Picchu. The house is approximately 1 kilometer outside town and is neither far enough away for solitude nor close enough for convenience. Not too many restaurants or markets in town and pretty basic options at either. The property has nice views of the nearby mountains. The grounds are well kept and the staff are nice. The property is sandwiched in between other properties with other houses only a few meters away- which none of the photos indicate. There is also a second, similar house on the same property. It lacks privacy. Bedrooms and bathrooms are fine. The latter come with cheap bath products (think of the bar of soap and sachet of shampoo you would get at a shoddy motel or a county jail). The kitchen is sparsely appointed with only the basics. The kitchen isn’t sufficient to cook a nice meal to enjoy with a group, which in our case was one of the reasons we rented the house. Daily cleaning service was good. Rental comes with a basic breakfast, which was neither memorable nor filling- consisting of dry bread, a few eggs, and fresh juice (which was good). No fresh fruit. Same breakfast every day.
Overall, the property is overpriced. For the cost, I’d expect a combination of better location, better service, better amenities, better food, and more of a luxury feel. It wasn’t a terrible stay but wasn’t great either. We give it a C grade.
We did really enjoy visits to Ollantaytambo, Pisac, and Perolniyoc via taxi. The Sacred Valley brewery is a gem. The staff can connect you with Nando who we enjoyed as our driver. He was on time, agreeable, and his prices were fair.

The views are spectacular from the villa and Margarita and her family were so helpful and nice. The garden and outdoor are beautiful. Highly recommended.

Beautiful property, great hosts/staff
My family and I had a great holiday in the Sacred Valley and Villa Tayta was a big component to it. Our hosts were very helpful in coordinating any arrangements that would give us the full experience of the Sacred Valley, including culinary and cultural activities.
I highly recommend the property and the hosts, they will make all efforts to make your stay an unforgettable one.

Beautiful experience of Peru
I recently led a group of 16 adults to Peru with the help of Hernan and his network of skilled drivers, guides and house staff. Booking this property was the best thing I did for my Peruvian Adventure. Many in my group have said this was the best vacation they have ever had. I cannot thank Hernan enough for making it so.
I rented both villas for 5 days and worked with Hernan in planning our experience according to our interests and needs. I highly recommend this property and Hernan's assistance to anyone considering the Sacred Valley and travels beyond to Cusco, Puno, Colca Canyon, and Arequipa. Hernan can and will provide transportation and guides as needed.
We were picked up at the Cusco airport by Walter (our driver for nearly 2 weeks) and Juan (our guide for the first week who is el maximo! simply the best person ever). They were professional and personable, so much so that there were big tears when we had to say our goodbyes. Together we shared the sights of the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco. We were well rested in the beautiful grounds of the villas with the attentive staff (Marta is beautiful in every way) available to help us with anything we needed after full days out and about.
Our 20 passenger Sprinter Van with Walter at the helm was always timely and happy to stop at the market in town for extra water and wine at the end of our touring days or evening dinners in Urubamba.
The villas are magnificent, beginning the day with a fantastic breakfast and ending with a fire in the hearth. The bedrooms worked well for our mixed group of couples and singles. We lacked for nothing. It was soothing to wake each morning to the vistas of the mountains and gardens. We even had a rainbow one afternoon! Traveling can be exhausting, especially with the addition of altitude issues, the villas provided space to rest; a true home away from home.
Hernan helped us on our second week in Peru when we left the Sacred Valley. He set up our driver (Walter is our hero and friend now) and a guide (Leo, professional and fun) to escort us to Puno/Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon and Arequipa. It was so nice to have the familiarity of Hernan's help even after we left the property.
We felt so cared for our entire trip. This was far more than renting a place to stay for a few days. Our experience was a broadening of our family through Hernan and his beautiful property, staff and local contacts. Our experience was very special to us. Thank you Hernan!

Beautiful house in beautiful location
We stayed at Villa Tayta with 3 families. The house is beautiful and the views are amazing. Margarita and Raul were wonderful and made sure everything during the stay went smoothly. The breakfast each morning was a great start before our excursions. We would recommend this house for anyone traveling to the sacred valley.

There is no reason not to book this Villa!
Everything was spot on, 5 stars. We stayed 6 nights. Very comfortable Villa with plenty of space. I chose this Villa for its size for my adult family of 6 and it’s location that’s rather central in the Sacred Valley. I decided to stay in one place and venture out on day trips instead of traveling between cities and staying at different hotels. Communication with the owner was easy, very timely and thorough. Margarita and her family did a great job as caretakers. They were also very prompt, accommodating. 8am breakfast meant an 8am breakfast to the minute!
I ended up using the sister site of this Villa for tours. Prices were very comparable or less than other tour services in the area for 6 people. I’ve never had such a prompt tour service. We ended up using them for all our major transport, including to and from the Cusco airport. Walter our driver was always there right on time and was a great driver. Safe and efficient. The guides were great, and we really enjoyed Juan on our excursion to Rainbow Mountain.
Urubamba was a pleasant town to go out and explore and we found some great restaurants. The owner has some great recommendations if you need them. Margarita called us a taxi service to get downtown on our second night. Texas Transportation. They told us they used the WhatsApp app so we ended up using them like an Uber. A simple text and they were on their way. $60 soles round trip in a 7 passenger van.
Top 3 spots for us were Ollantaytambo, Rainbow Mountain, and Machu Picchu. We are a hiking and climbing family from Colorado so the more of that we had the more fun we had.
Don’t hesitate on booking this Villa, it also books up very early so plan accordingly. Just a tip, I booked my Macchu Picchu and Huayana Picchu climb tickets first and then built the trip around that day, there are only 400 of those tickets allowed daily, 200 for a 7-8am climb and 200 available for a 10-11am climb. We needed the 10am climb tickets as it is the only one that works with taking the early 5am Olllantaytambo train to MP. I booked the MP/HP tickets 5 months early and there were only 65 available for the day I wanted.
I’m glad I did the MP as a day trip. We spent a late afternoon in Aqus Caliente after we finished with MP / HP. It’s a bit crowded and touristy and we were glad to get back to the Villa that night.

A beautiful home
Everything about this home was amazing. I felt at peace the entire time. Home is just as the pictures show. The staff was so friendly and attentive. They were always around when we needed them and even before. We spoke minimal Spanish but were able to communicate our needs and if there was anything complicated we just used a translation app. Owners were not in town during our stay but were extremely helpful. Each time I emailed Hernan I thought he probably will not respond because of the time I sent the message but I always got a timely response. I would not want to stay anywhere else if I visited Peru again. View was great. Fireplace great. Distance to markets and restaurants, great!

Great Overall Experience!
This was a great property with great services and amenities provided. From the beginning all inquiries all questions were promptly answered. The great communication continued after the booking in offering assistance to tours, transportation, and trip planning ideas. The property's website offers additional ideas and information. Hernán plays the part of concierge very well and all services that he arranged were quality and professional tour groups. In fact, we were very pleased by a few of his suggestions and arrangements including; private culinary experience cooked at the house, an intimate trip to the small community of Willoc, and the Peruvian cooking lessons at the Tawa restaurant.
The caretaker, Margherita, and her husband were very attentive and friendly as well. As others mentioned breakfast was always prepared to our schedule and the fire was made in the evenings providing a great feeling of home. Additionally the transportation service with our main driver Richard provided a sense of familiarity and began to anticipate our needs.
This is a perfect place to stay for a group or family traveling together. We used it to explore Machu Picchu and the sacred valley for five days and did not run out of thing to do and places to eat.

A lovely setting and the caretakers are wonderful. Also recommend booking tours through the Villa.
The property is beautiful and worked well for our group. The only downside is that the fourth bedroom does not have a bath and it is upstairs. The downstairs bath in the hall has a water closet but the upstairs hall bath has only a shower and sink, so if it is a group of adults, the fourth bedroom does not work well. It is a large bedroom with a smaller bed also, so a bit less comfortable than the other rooms with private baths attached.

Amazing Beyond Measure!
This is more than just a house rental it’s a dream vacation spot! Hernan went beyond measure to make sure our guests had the best Peru experience. All of our food experiences at the house were wonderful, from daily breakfast, to a Panchamanca dinner, and in house chef experience. The property itself is more beautiful than the photos, inside and out! Having hot water is always a concern in this region and even with a full house it was never an issue. The location of the villa is key for every place you might want to visit in the Sacred Valley and Urubamba itself is a great town to walk around in, visit the local market or go out to eat. Only a 20 min walk from most restaurants, we walked to dinner nightly, grabbed a taxi occasionally, and felt at peace coming back to a quiet space. We can’t recommend this villa highly enough and are looking forward to staying here in the future!

Absolutely Wonderful Experience All Around
This place was wonderful and even better than advertised! Margarita and Raul were some of the nicest and most helpful hosts ever. From making breakfast in the mornings, to helping us choose restaurants in the evening, they were simply the best. The home was beautiful and clean, and the tours we arranged included amazing guides who really made our experience in Peru an utter joy. I can not recommend staying here enough!

The house and property is beautifully maintained and very clean.
If you want a great house for your Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu visit look no further. The house is perfectly located in the middle of everything you need to see. The owners are excellent to work with and are very helpful. The caretakers Raul and Margarita were fantastic, they took care of us daily. Breakfast was a great perk, Margarita made fresh fruit juice every mornimg for breakfast. A fire was made nightly once the sun went down to take out the chill. I really can’t say enough good things about this house, the property, the location and how the owners pay close attention to all your needs. I wish we could’ve stayed longer and would rent this house again.

Beautiful, peaceful place
Our family of 5 was on an extended travel in many places including a month in Peru. We visited all the highlight stops in the Amazon and Andes and were looking for a place for some down time. Taytawasi certainly provided this. A well appointed chill spot for small excursions to Ollantaytanbo, Moray, Maras, etc. Would recommend highly for families particularly. Great staff Margarita and Raul kept the place clean and cosy.

Only one word describes this property - EXCELLENT!!!
All the pics and reviews tell how nice this property is. You will love it. Will meet and exceed your expectations. If in sacred valley in the future we will stay here again. Thanks to Raul and Margarita for being great caretakers!

Exactly what we hoped for!
We spent our first week in Peru adventuring and trekking. Our second week was all about relaxing in style, but we wanted something more comfortable than a hotel. Our Kantuwasi stay was outstanding.
The house was beautiful, well-appointed, and more than comfortable. Specifically, we got great sleep thanks to good beds, an often missed mark on the road. The caretakers were super friendly and helpful, and we were delighted by the local dining options. Yes, it was a short walk down a dirt road and then through a local neighborhood to get to town, but totally worth it.
I would gladly visit Urubamba again, and would definitely stay here!

Lovely and comfortable house in the Sacred Valley
My family of 7 recently stayed at this lovely property for 3 nights. We found the house to have all of the comforts we could have desired. The staff were wonderful - greeting us whenever we returned, lighting roaring fires for us every night, and preparing a wonderful breakfast with delicious eggs, juice smoothies, and bread every morning. The beds were comfortable, the towels replaced daily, and we so enjoyed the American TV and living room. We so appreciated Raul going out to pick us up some wine and takeout chicken when we arrived late one night. The staff even found my daughter's ring she left on the bathroom counter and mailed it back to her!
A couple of things to know before you go however. The house is down a narrow dirt road and hard to find. It is may be walk-able to town but that part of Urubamba is not particularly scenic or tourist friendly. We felt a little isolated when we would arrive back there each night after our day long tours. Dinner transportation needs to be planned in advance. This is very much a house for a family or group with their own transportation.

Beautiful property, tucked away
Great communication and support from owner prior to and during stay. Caretakers at the house were unfailingly gracious and helpful. House and grounds both are very beautiful and private, entirely separate from all but their other rental home and the caretakers house. Lower elevation than Cusco and well placed for day trips to sites in the Sacred Valley. Heartily recommended.

We loved our time in Peru and staying at Taytawasi enhanced our Peru vacation!
We stayed 7 nights at Taytawasi and enjoyed every minute of our stay in this most comfortable and spacious home. From the delicious breakfast provided every morning to the warm fire burning in the fireplace every evening, all of our needs were tended to by Matgarita and Raul. We had amazing guided tours daily that Hernan coordinated for us that we enjoyed thoroughly. We also spent a couple of afternoons walking around the pretty town of Urubamba, as the house is close to the Plaza de Armas. Be sure to have a meal or two at El Huatacay, their food was amazing! All in all, highly recommend this vacation rental to all who are seeking an amazing time in Peru!!

Exceptional Stay in Sacred Valley
We admit it, we are what Mark Adams would label "Martini Travelers" in his book, Turn Right at Machu Picchu. And this villa exceeded our expectations. It is a great jumping point for Llama Treks (w/ Llama Project), a trip to Machu Picchu via Ollantaytambo and other great sites in the valley. The valley itself is a great place to acclimate, since it is much lower than Cusco. There are many great restaurants in the area that are easily found walking to town or a Motor Taxi (Tuk-Tuk). The overwhelming reason to stay here comes down to Margarita and Raul's hospitality. As the caretakers, Margarita provides a daily scrumptious breakfast and daily house cleaning and Raul looks after starting the evening fire and keeping the grounds immaculate. If you like a little luxury in your adventure travel, this villa will not disappoint. Peru is a fantastic country with wonderful people and we will forever have fond memories of staying in Urubamba at this fantastic property.

Perfect base in the Sacred Valley
Many thanx to Herman for building such a lovely oasis for us to use to explore the Sacred Valley from. From help to arrange a pick up at the airport in Cuzco, to set up tours for the valley, to making sure our stay at his beautiful house was the highlight of our time in Peru.
We would loved to have stayed longer (and would do at least 3 nights there if we had it to do over), but at least we got to enjoy our short time there. The staff took such good care of us, that we felt like we were staying with friends in their home while they were away.
If you get a chance, do book this fantastic place, especially if you are a group of 4-8 visiting Peru.

Our group stayed at this beautiful home in Cusco for 10 days, and it was AMAZING! We were two families, each with 3 young children, so our group was 4 adults and 6 children between the ages of 2-6 years old. We were looking for a place to retreat and relax for a week and a half, and this home certainly delivered!
The owners were extremely kind and generous, and they helped with any little detail we needed as we planned our trip. The property manager and her family live nearby on the property, and they were available for any question we had. Margarita and Raul took care of every detail - they made a full breakfast for us every morning (and were available for any other meals we might want), light a fire for us every evening, kept the home clean and fresh, and even washed our vehicles! Our children loved playing with their sweet daughters and waited anxiously for them to get back from school every afternoon so they could play outside together. They were available for any interaction we wanted, but were never pushy and never in the way when we wanted to be alone and have privacy. It was the perfect balance.
The house itself is beautiful, well-furnished, and family-friendly. The grounds are beautiful as well, full of flowers, gardens, and lots of grass for running and playing. It is only a few minutes walk or drive to restaurants and shops, and we enjoyed several amazing restaurants during our time in Urubamba.
In all, it proved to be the perfect place to relax, and we wished we could have stayed longer. We have already recommended this place to several of our friends who live in or frequently visit Peru, and we will most definitely be back again in the future. My children ask me daily when we will be going back to "The Big House!"
