About this house rental
Come and vacation in this freshly renovated home located at 815 Wilson St. South Haven, MI 49090. We have put a lot of time and efforts into creating this home and ask that only respectable families rent with us. We do not rent to bachelor- bachelorette party's etc. If you are a family looking for a quiet street to enjoy a fun and relaxing vacation please keep reading!
We offer 4 bedrooms (there is an additional bedroom that is attached to one of the other rooms) and 3.5 bathrooms. On the 2nd floor we have 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We have a 2nd floor master suite with a renovated bathroom, king bed, TV and sitting area which also folds out into a twin bed. In our 2nd bedroom we have twin bunk beds with a fully renovated bathroom across the hall. The 3rd (& 4th) bedroom located on the 2nd floor has a queen bed with a smaller children's room attached. In the kids room, we have a cozy full bed, TV with DVD player and fun decorations for the kids! All of our bedrooms and bathrooms have more then enough closet space for all of your vacation essentials.
Conveniently located on the 1st floor is another bedroom that we call the Grandparents room, with it's own private bathroom and walk in shower. This room is perfect for the couple or individual who does not want to travel upstairs and would like to have peace and quite at night when everyone has gone to bed. We also have 2 living rooms located at the front and back of the house. One living room opens up to a fully renovated kitchen with new shaker style cabinets, quartz counter tops, stainless steel appliances and an island with seating for 4. We also have 2 dining tables to accommodate the guests staying. Since everyone loves to socialize in the kitchen we knocked down 2 walls to create an open floor plan that flows from the kitchen to an eating area to the back living room. There is also a powder room and laundry closet off of the kitchen with a full size washer and dryer. In the living room off of the kitchen we have installed new sliding glass doors that open up to the private fenced in backyard. In the backyard you will find beautiful mature trees with a brand new 18 ft x 20 ft concrete patio that is ready to be used. Inside we have also added new lighting fixtures, tamper resistant outlets and fans to almost every room. We have small children ourselves so this home is some what "baby proofed". We have also installed luxury vinyl plank flooring for durability and wear & tear of children. A side note we feel important to mention is that our cleaning company we use is a "green clean" company that only uses all natural cleaning products that are child safe.
We pride our selves in the little details we have put into this home and hope you too can appreciate the little things we have added!
Our home is conveniently located just steps away from a wonderful quiet park that is great for the kids with slides, swings, play areas and a baseball field! From our home it is a 2 minute drive to Meijer Grocery Store, a 10-15 minute walk to town and 20 minute walk to the beach. Grandpa Dick’s Getaway is a GREAT location for your next South Haven family vacation!!

Had a great week with family! House was super clean and had everything we needed and then some!! From all of the baby gear to the beach gear to the great fire pit and grill…all was fantastic! Great location! Very short walk to downtown and then onto the pier. Would definitely stay again! Go to SoHo and stay at this fantastic property!!

Shelby’s house is the perfect spot for a family vacationing in South Haven. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for our little ones. The kitchen was very well stocked with appliances, cooking supplies, plenty of dishes. Lots of
outdoor toys and all the beach
equipment you could need. The house is lovely and well taken care of. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to stay at the house again.

Our week at Grandpa Dick’s was great. The home is just as described. There was plenty of room for the four of us (parents with two young-adult children) with space to spare. Everything we needed was supplied. The walk to town was easy - 25 minutes to the furthest end of the pier. The host was very responsive to our inquiries regarding things to do in the area.

House was perfect for our family stay for eight...Grandma, Grandpa, two sons, one DIL and three grandchildren 8, 6 and 3. Lots of items for the beach, items to play with in the yard, board games, etc. Kitchen was extremely well stocked as well. Packard Beach, which we chose, was walkable for the 8 and 6 year old, though they chose to ride in the van one way or both at times. Downtown an easy walk as well as to the Maritime Museum. Shelby was responsive and quick to answer any questions.

We are a group of six women and this house worked perfectly for us but it would also be great for any large group or multigenerational family. Lots of bedrooms and baths and a large open kitchen next to the family room. Lots of additional space including outdoor areas. The owner was wonderful to work with and everything went very smoothly.

Excellent home- so welcoming. Owner has everything you could possibly need for a relaxed stay. Lots of open space, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Fenced in backyard is perfect for kids. Nice park within walking distance. Everything was updated. Quiet neighborhood. It was alittle far to walk to beach, but we rented a golf cart which was both fun and made trips to the beach easy. Owner was very easy to communicate with, quickly answered my messages. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this property.

The house was perfect for a three generation family gathering. The house was spacious with room for people to spread out as well as gather together. Bedrooms were super comfortable, kitchen was very well equipped, lots of chairs, toys and towels for the beach. We’re had everything we needed and then some. We all loved our experience, and Shelby was very responsive to all our questions. Thanks!!!

This house is exactly as listed and more! Perfect for a family beach vacation for all ages. This house has every amenity you could ask for and even those you would not expect (like beach towels, beach umbrellas, a foldable crib…etc). The house felt perfectly sized for our 6 adults and 1 infant - each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. The house is in walking distance to downtown South Haven and is super close to a park with a basketball hoop, baseball field, swings, slides and sandbox. It’s walkable to the beach but not when you’re carrying all your stuff but there’s plenty of parking at the beaches to drive. Shelby was a very helpful and responsive host and we would absolute stay here again!

Perfect summer spot for whole family! We had for kids under 7 that loved the bunk room and secret spot. The 2 living areas also provided room to spread out…..and have a kids room and adult room! The kitchen was fully equipped equipped! The main floor suite offered a perfect spot for grandparents. Great location—close to parks, downtown, beaches……and golf cart rental. The house had everything! Owners were quick to respond to all inquiries!

The house was beautiful and had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we didn't have to search for anything because everything was easily accessible. The beach gear, especially the beach wagon, was incredibly useful and saved the day. Overall, everything was fantastic.

This property was amazing - probably the most well stocked rental we’ve ever stayed in. They really went above and beyond to make sure everything you needed would be available. We had 5 kids with us (ages 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0) and enjoyed the kid dishes, high chair, crib, beach wagon, beach toys, and kids chairs to sit around the fire pit. We had 2 families traveling so it was a great amount of space for us to feel comfortable and everyone to have privacy when they needed it. Walking to downtown and the beach was very easy, making it even better that we didn't have to move our cars all weekend long. The kids room off the one bedroom was perfect for our boys and they thought it was the coolest space to hang out - it totally stole the show! I would highly recommend this place!

As noted above, we were very pleased with everything. We were a group of 4 women who have known each other since high school. We are ‘mature’ women who graduated in 1960, and get together every couple of years. I had no problem choosing the property and making the reservation. The hostess was very nice to work with.

What a fantastic place. This is the home you want to rent. We have rented many homes before to travel with our young children. This was our first trip with my older parents and two siblings and the layout was absolutely perfect so that everyone had their space and we also could enjoy our time together. Shelby's place is wonderfully cozy and has the extras most rental homes do not- towels and chairs for the beach, a high quality grill, a crock pot for easy family meals, blankets to cozy on the couch with, and more than just basics in the pantry. If you're traveling with littles you'll find all of the things you rather not travel with- child sized cups, plates, bowls, silverware, kid yard chairs, beach toys and even bedtime books.
Thank you Shelby for being willing to provide not just a home but the true comforts of home while traveling.
I highly recommend that renters also consider bringing bikes or renting from the fabulous Rock 'n Roll Cycle shop. They rented high quality bikes for the whole family, including a tag-a-long, a trailer, a small bike with training wheels and even let us borrow a bike daily to help teach our daughter how to bike without training wheels. Biking down "downtown" and to the beach was an awesome decision in lieu of dealing with traffic and parking.
Finally, the neighbors are wonderfully friendly.

Great location & amenities
A great find. Perfect for our family of grandparents, adult children and very young grandchildren. Every amenity was available- full crib & quiet space, high chair, sand and backyard toys, kid plates, strollers. Lots of space options. We highly recommend.

Wonderful house and neighborhood!
We had a wonderful week with family. The house is spacious and has a great layout. The owners were easy to communicate with and very helpful. We have rented in South Haven for many years and this might have been our favorite rental.

Lovely Home with Great Location to Town!!
This property worked great for our needs. Well equipped, clean, and spacious. It was a short walk to downtown South Haven with easy access to all the restaurants, ice cream, and shops, and just a few minutes longer to the beach and pier. My husband particularly enjoyed his daily walk to Snake Oil Coffee. The neighborhood is beautiful and safe and although we didn’t have young children staying with us, the fenced in backyard would have been convenient if we had.

Perfect Accomodations
This property was a great fit for our family. It was well maintained, had thoughtful design with lots of charm, and was fully stocked throughout. Plenty of books and toys for the kids and the hideaway kid's nook was a hit. Communication was easy and efficient with the owners and they offered their expertise to help make our trip planning a success! We would definitely visit again!

South Haven retreat
I cannot express how happy we were to arrive in South Haven and find this amazing house. We had flown from CA to Chicago and then drove to SoHa. We arrived at the house after dark so we did not get to see much of the beautiful house and neighborhood until the next morning.
The house was fantastic. We have stayed at several VRBOs and this was by far the cleanest house we have stayed in. It had everything we needed to be comfortable for the week. Plenty of room for our family of 6 to spread out.
The house is located close to an eclectic downtown as well as shops and stores for any other shopping needs/wants.
The owners were quick to answer questions and offer restaurant suggestions. We were in town for a wedding and spent time checking out the area. This house was the nicest in the area and the neighborhood was very, very quiet.

Long Weekend in SoHa
Lovely house. Perfect for our large group of friends and family. Everything you need is provided and such a great location in relation to the beach and town. This was our second stay at the property, and I would not hesitate to return.

This house was a dream come true! Our group consisted of ages 1 all the way through 61….and it was perfect for everyone! I have 3 kids (ages 1, 3, and 5) and the sleeping arrangements were perfect, especially the full sized crib (that was folded up so compactly in the closet on arrival), which made the home-to-vacay sleep transition a total breeze for my little girl! The little room attached to the queen room (with a full bed) was perfect for my 3 and 5yo who shared the bed and they felt totally safe being connected to Grammies room :). Each morning we made a big breakfast in the gorgeous open kitchen, grilled almost every night on the patio, had many fires in the firepit, and a few game nights that had us laughing so hard we cried! (lots of games to choose from!). The 3 showers/bath were awesome for when we returned home from the beach, no one had to wait around to rinse all that sand and sunscreen off! The washer was huge (my dream! lol) and was perfect for all the towels/beach attire. Lots of children’s toys/books/and DVDS (and Disney+/Netflix on the TV). A truly wonderful vacation house, with more amenities than we could have asked for, that made this an unforgettable trip! Shelby was SO quick to respond with any questions we had, and has such a warm and welcoming way about her! The walk into town was about 15min, and the walk to south beach was about 25min. Totally doable with a stroller or 2. But we did end up buying a 1 week parking pass ($30 total) for the south beach parking lot, which was about an 8min drive from the house. A wonderful vacation to end the summer with :)

Perfect Home, Host, Town & Beaches!
We have never stayed in a home so clean and well-stocked! Plenty of bedrooms for all of us and lots of gathering places for games, movies, and conversations. The beach decor & linens were top-notch and everything felt new. We had plenty of hot water for all 9 of us and the kitchen was a joy to use, with plenty of dishware & sharp knives! Shelby was on top of everything - responding within minutes to any inquiry/comment I sent her. The adorable beach town was safe and welcoming with Walmart & Meijer's nearby. Even the neighbor's were friendly. Around the block from Shelby's rental home was a small playground which was a delight for our little ones. The walking distance to downtown made it easy for meals, shopping, and watching the sunset - which is a must-do! It was less than an hour drive away from Warren Dunes, Holland State Park, and Nelis' Dutch Village which we felt were worth it to visit. The South Haven beaches were very close with snack shops, nice restrooms, and souvenir shack. The beach was well taken care of and very clean. Our only issue was the restaurants that were not up to capacity and struggling with the deluge of carry out orders. I'm assuming that this was the result of Covid-19 so hopefully short-lived. The food & bakery items that we did get were all delicious though :) We would definitely visit again!
