Great place
Great place to stay if you want to be near the lake but not on the lake. Great hillside treetop views. Can see the lake down the hillside, but have to drive to get to the lake. The neighborhood ramp is very tight with limited turn around space, so would not recommend if you have anything bigger than one jet ski or very small boat to launch. The house is great and has plenty of room. Please note no dishwasher so plan to wash dishes or use disposable plastic ware. Host was great and very responsive!

This home is truly charming! A wonderful collection of rooms on different levels, with a huge deck facing Lake Martin. Despite being late July, we spent a lot of the day out on the deck and were surprised that the mosquitoes and bugs did not bother us at all. We grilled and ate outside most nights. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 teens.
The house was very cosy, with comfortable chairs and sofas, and beds. The kitchen is compact, but organised and accessible. The only downside was the lack of dishwasher, which for a group of 8 people, presented new, and challenging opportunities for the kids! The tap water also tastes very muddy, so bring plenty of bottled water for your stay.
The owner clearly states that this house is not ON the lake. This is true, it’s set back about 200 feet. There is a boat launch that you can see from the deck, but you have to drive around quite a way to access this. We had brought kayaks, but never used this launch because there was no real parking for the car. Instead we drove 25 minutes to Wind Creek State Park, which was the nearest public access to the Lake, to sit, kayak, and swim. This Park is delightful, and very picturesque, but also has its problems. Entrance is expensive. For two adults and two teens, it was $20 a day. As it was the only place to get in the lake, we went every day. It also has a marina, with boat rentals, but the only pontoon they had, that would fit 8 people, was out of action all week. Instead we rented a wonderful pontoon from Anchor Bay Marina (about 7 minutes drive from the house), as recommended by the owner. They only rent for the full day, and you have to be back by 4.30pm, but the cleanliness of the boat, and the professionalism of the staff was second to none. They take COVID precautions very seriously.
The owner of the house, Mary Ann was lovely, and always answered our questions very quickly. In cooler weather, we would have explored the woods and nearby trails (such as the Cherokee Alpine Trail about 9 mins drive from the house), and I bet this location is fantastic in the fall.
Overall, a fabulous trip!

Peaceful
Beautiful home and very comfortable. The view of the lake was obstructed by trees and we were disappointed there wasn’t any direct access to the water but overall, we enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful area of the lake.

Peaceful
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood on a hillside with lots of trees surrounding the property. It is decorated nicely and is inviting. We were a little bummed that we were not closer to the lake and could barely see the water through the trees. However, we did spend a lot of time gathered on the huge deck, enjoying the peace and quiet. The wind blowing through the trees and the sounds of nature were very relaxing and made for a great weekend escape.
