HISTORY OF QUAMBY HOME:
Quamby Home was settled in 1826 as part of the original land grant to Sir Richard dry (the first premier of Tasmania). The property was originally part of the larger Quamby Estate which is now a luxury golf and wedding venue 5 mins drive east of Quamby Home.
The original Quamby Estate property was sub-divided in the 1830’s and sold off to individual farmers with one 300 acre plot being purchased by a young John Maloney who had arrived in Australia from Ireland in 1826.
The property was farmed for many years, and then finally in the 1870’s the homestead was built on the property by the Maloney Family.
John Maloney was killed in a horse and cart accident on his way into Launceston in 1902 and the property passed to his sons James and Patrick Maloney. Patrick was the last surviving member of the family to farm the property and upon his death in 1933 he bequeathed the property to the Catholic Church at Hagley (built by sir Richard Dry) with the instructions “never to be sold”.
Upon the 80 year expiry of the statute of limitations – “Never to be sold” (in September 2013) the property was sold at auction and its current owners went about extensive renovations to restore the property to its former glory (with the addition of many modern luxury features).
The farm itself has also seen extensive investment with the addition of two large pivot irrigators that cover 90% of the property, extensive underground drainage and 4kms of underground piping and pumps to the meander river nearby.
The property now produces high value crops and livestock and is ready for the next 200 years of its life !

Tasmania is home to the worlds cleanest air and water and possesses a significant matrix of irrigation schemes across the state that enable it to produce high value, high quality produce.

Gorgeous house with stunning views
Our stay at Quamby Home will be fondly remembered by the adults and (teen) kids forever. The house is so comfortable and beautifully renovated. There are little luxury touches everywhere and one morning we just took it easy and enjoyed the house and backyard cricket on the lawn. The view of the Western Tiers (I think it is that Mountain Range?) and the farmland all around is beautiful and calming. The sunsets are incredible. Perfect base for a day hike at Cradle mountain; Launceston, a beautiful wildlife sanctuary and shorter hikes in the surrounding valleys and ranges are just 20 - 30 min away. The kitchen is very well equipped and gorgeous smelling toiletries were provided.

What a house!
Quamby was an amazing way to end our holiday around Tasmania. The house is beautifully styled and very well thought out. We had two families (4 adults, 6kids) staying and we all slept comfortably . The kids played outside on the beautiful lawn and just enjoyed the wide open spaces.
I would highly recommend Quamby. Thanks to Stewart and the team

Even better than it looks in the photos, does Tasmania proud.
Just one of the greatest places I've ever been. There for wedding nearby. Everyone very very pleased with property and continued to rave about it the whole time we were there.
It was extremely comfortable for all with an excellent location. Made everyone want to come back to Tasmania and stay again. Easy everything. Loved the open back grassy area to play some footy and cricket. The fireplace was used. Beautiful sunsets. Awesome stars - you don't get views of the stars in Melbourne.

Classy place, well managed and presented and great management
The booking process was so easy, as was it to deal with Stewart. We were attending our grand son's/nephew's/cousin's wedding (yep, three generations of family staying ranging from 92 down to 30 years old) and Quamby Home was the perfect place to stay. I should note that my father-in-law is very restricted in his movement and being on one level, Quamby Home is perfect and made it easy for him to be comfortable.
We arrived from Melbourne on a stinking hot day to find the air conditioning was already running (a very nice touch, thank you Stewart) and the house spotlessly clean and ready for us.....along with a bottle of Chardonnay and welcome note.
We were joined for dinner by more of the family, staying elsewhere, and had a wonderful dinner. While we thought we had enough wine, it was very helpful to have the Quamby Home wine rack available with a bunch of Tassie wines to top up (I had only bought one bottle of red).
Plenty of room to relax on Saturday morning with a walk, a good coffee or a catch up on the news before the wedding in the afternoon which was on the Quamby Estate, so very close to us.
An even more relaxing Sunday morning before gathering up the clan to head back to Melbourne, all the time Stewart was checking in on us to make sure we were having a great time and to see if we needed anything.
Can't fault the house, can't fault the management and it was a terrific family holiday.
So, go ahead and treat yourself. I just can't see how you can go wrong. We had a wonderful, relaxing and comfortable time.

As fab as the photo
Very clean, very stylish, as cool as the photo shown. As per description, this place is located right in the middle of a farm. We arrived at around 8:00pm and it was pretty dark. But once we go inside and light up the house, it feels like HOME, actually much better than home. They got everything for cooking, you just need to bring your own ingredient. The owner was super friendly, instructions were very clear on how to check in and how to check out. We got 2 x 2 years old boy travel with us and they both really like this house. Keep up the great work guys.

Beautiful Country Home
We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday at Quamby Home in Jan 2016. The house is located in a picturesque and private spot surrounded by farmed fields and with gorgeous views of the Great Western Tiers. Stylishly decorated and very comfortable, we enjoyed the added extras of all the latest magazines to read, beautiful lifestyle books and cookbooks to browse as well as toys, games, books and DVD's for the children. The kitchen is well - fitted out and we made some delicious meals using fresh, local produce and the recipe books! It is only a short drive to the town of Westbury for grocery shopping and a good location for accessing Launceston and surrounds. The host was very helpful and responsive. Overall, a fantastic country escape in a luxurious and comfortable home.

THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN HAGLEY!
This 4 bedroom (10 bed) house was amazing!. It is a beautifully renovated period home that offered all the mod cons. On arrival the home greeted us with an instant warmth. We felt extremely lucky to experience the tranquility of the place, and our children enjoyed running around on the farm!. The owners were very accommodating and we hope to get back to this special home soon!!.
