The accommodations were perfect for grandparents - sleeping upstairs and grandchildren sleeping downstairs. The location on the beach was great - but across the street is some junk yard - that had police there one night. The traffic is pretty scary walking to the beach entrance - though you do not need to cross the street. Living conditions are generally good - but this is not a place for people who like to cook. The electric range in the kitchen is not functional - only one burner was adjustable and the others only worked on high! The utensils are marginal but the pans are ok for cooking on this one burner. Other maintenance issues were reported to management company.

The house was a perfect size for our group of 7; nice game room/family room; big kitchen; beautiful ocean view from house and deck.

This was an amazing home for our visit to Oregon! We all enjoyed it and were able to relax and enjoy the sounds of the ocean all day and night. What a great Mother’s Day get away!

Beautiful view and great living/kitchen space. All bedrooms are large with bathroom for each. No beach access from property. Our pup is old so stairs to go outside was challenging. Two en-suite showers were difficult but others available. One or two housekeeping issues but overall cleanliness was good. Comfortable choice of seating, good beds. Outstanding sunsets!

We wanted a location near the beach, but safe from Sunami's. The only real issue with this property is the proximity to 101. Lots of road noise. The ocean is also loud, so bring ear plugs if you are not used to this. Long walk or short drive to Seal Rocks park. We didn't use the stairs down to the beach because the locals said it was partially washed-out. Comfortable beds, although the sheets and pillowcases need replacement. Instructions needed for operating the TV, and need some sugar for coffee etc.. Toilet paper was substandard. Need Charmin in a property like this. Great towels however and the Jacuzzi's were great. Need instructions on how to operate the Jacuzzi's or at least a sign near the switches. Proximity to the bakery and Seafood house was great. Half-way between Newport and Waldport is perfect.

We had a great time at this house and made good memories. The layout is perfect for family and friends. We were able to have a wonderful meal in the big kitchen and dining area and felt safe with kids on the deck. There was plenty of space for us gather or have quiet time away from the group. The view is beautiful. Everything was as advertised, and we would definitely return! Thanks!

Great view and space for adults to be. Wish there had been enough towels available for all guests.
Would love to stay at the property again.

House was clean. Balcony railing loose and upstairs stair loose.

I wanted the perfect relaxing place to bring in my 50th. This place checked all of my boxes. With an incredible ocean view and proximity to a great little restaurant I couldn’t have been happier with our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

Everything worked perfectly. Our elderly (90+ year old) guests were able to make their way up the stairway to enjoy the living areas upstairs. While the house is right on 101, we did not hear any road noise. The view is gorgeous, and the house is very nice inside and well maintained.

We had family, from ages 2-85. The set up was great. It was nice having the ocean view without the worry of access for kids .

This house has amazing views and in close to Newport and the things we wanted to do. The beach isn't accessible from the home, but we knew that going into it reading some of the previous reviews. It was overall a clean property, but to be a clear 5 star it would be nice to have a little more attention to detail. The home shows a little age, but being a costal property it's in pretty good shape. Overall, it was a nice place to stay with the family.

This was a very special time for our entire family. We had planned to come last Christmas, but my husband who was battling cancer took a turn for the worse and passed away. I contacted the manager to see if we could change our dates to this year and they graciously agreeed. My husband wanted to come with us in spirit and asked us to scatter some of his ashes in the ocean while we were here. We did just that and then the sun came out and we saw a rainbow, so we know his spirit was with us!!
The house is fabulous and just as the pictures showed it! The kitchen was equipped with everything and we cooked a wonderful Christmas turkey with all the trimmings there. The dining table extended to fit all of us around it to eat and play games.
All the rooms are spacious and comfortable and we felt right at home there. The temperature was easily controlled. The fireplaces were cozy; the furniture was comfortable; the beds were comfy; and great to have so many bathrooms! The views are spectacular and the ocean put on a show for us each day.
The area is wonderful, we visited several local shops. Ocean Beaches Glass Blowing and the Chubby Mermaid were highlights!! We flew kites on the beach and played in the sea foam. We had a tide time table to help us figure out beach times. We didn't see any whales, but heard they were there. We did see seals nearly every day.
Lots of sights to see within a 2 hour drive and we saw many!! We saw two light houses and the Aquarium in Newport and the light show at the Botanical Gardens in Coos Bay were amazing!!
I would recommend this house to anyone any time of year for all it and the area offers. We loved it and we give it 10 Stars!!!

It was my twin granddaughters first time to the ocean and they loved going out on the deck to see the view of the ocean.
The house was warm and welcoming with plenty of utensils, towels and anything needed to make our stay magical.

The very best part of this home is the view... unfortunately, one cannot "get" to the beach without walking a fair distance on the highway or getting into the car and driving. Lots of bathrooms and space but the layout is odd - the main living quarters and the deck with the super view are upstairs (including the kitchen so packing coolers, groceries, etc. is a challenge and also for myself and aged mother, the stairs are difficult. We chose the bedroom downstairs because of our furbabies needing outside multiple times and the only "out" is downstairs... It was also wonderful that there's an extra jacuzzi in the attached oceanside bedroom downstairs BUT with the glass doors and high sides, we couldn't get in or out safely - need some grab bars for safety - also in the upstairs master bath. One major improvement would be to have king beds and TV's in the bedrooms (there's plenty of space to do this). Also, perhaps stairs/ramp from upper deck to ground level outside??? The propane was empty so before we could bbq, we had to get propane and while the host said coffee was supplied, there wasn't any (not a big deal however). Just a note - the burner dials (for both left burners) on the stove are messed up - they're showing on when actually off and at first I just thought the dials themselves were on incorrectly but there's no other way I could see to put them on. The dryer is very slow to dry. Overall, a great home with great hosts - we wanted to stay an extra day but unfortunately it was already booked - back to back... Thank you however for trying!!!!

Million $ view - almost perfect house.
We had four couples stay here and this house totally met our needs. Plenty of room with a nice layout. The kitchen was well stocked of cutlery, dish ware, cooking items, etc. The view is incredible. It’s almost perfect. It does need some update though. 1) The deck railing. Several of us commented that it was not secured enough (for our comfort). 2) The upstairs hallway bathroom’s door handle kept falling off. 3) The bed in the upstairs master was atrocious. Crazy high and two small for the room. 4) The air flow was a bit weird. Many windows don’t open so it was hard to cool down the place after a hot day. I’d recommend having fans available. Also some of the windows that did open didn’t have screens. I know those things sound super critical but really overall though we had a fantastic time and loved staying here. We would totally do it again.

We will be back!
The 180 degree view of the ocean was amazing. 4 beds and 4 baths gave everyone their own space. The space upstairs was big enough so that a large group can all hang out together. There is a small store across the street that helped us find this really cool path to the beach. We will definitely be back!

Awesome!!
The property was so spacious and perfect for our trip. The view was spectacular even though it rained the whole weekend. We danced, ate, and caught up to date with each other’s life. We’re already wishing we were there again. Sink clocked and maintenance came right away. Excellent service.

Ocean Getaway
The property has excellent views of the ocean. It is directly off of the highway so if you want to walk to a beach access you would be walking on the highway shoulder. There is beach access a short drive away. It was nice that each of the four bedrooms had its own bathroom. Has plenty of games downstairs for older kids and adults as well as an assortment of DVDs.

Beautiful place!
Easy to find, amazing location on the cliff above the ocean. Beautiful home with all amenities. A wonderful place to rest, relaxing and watch the waves roll in. Had the pleasure of seeing it during the snow one day and night then a beautiful sunset the next night. Very clean home, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, warm and cozy in the winter. Plus an incredible tub overlooking the ocean. Also very close to a bakery/coffee shop and Luna Sea, the best seafood restaurant in the area. This is a great place! Thank you, Meredith Lodging!

Critique
House clean except for Windows and sliders. Beautiful view but the picture and description were misleading. We were under the impression we would be able to step right onto beach and not be on a cliff overlooking beach. All of us felt the same way. The beach access could have been clearer. Parking was a challenge on the busy highway. Overall we had a great time but when you have views like the one this house has you want windows, sliders, deck glass to be clean. The door tracts were dirty. The house was very comfortable though

For a nice get away from 100+ degree Temps and a beautiful ocean view.... this is the place to be in the middle of a hot summer. Great family experience and the dogs loved it too!

Grandma wanted to listen to the ocean & feel the sand with her 3 children. And she got it all! Very nice celebration.

Perfect family getaway
This is the perfect property to get away from the crowds. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. The view from the deck is amazing! The sound of the crashing waves are soothing 24/7. A short walk south to a moderately challenging beach access or a short drive north to Curtis Street (an unmarked beach access) ensures you’re only steps away from a fairly secluded stretch of beach. Tide pools at low tide or just relaxing on the sand make this a perfect family getaway.

PERFECT Family Retreat
This house was everything we hoped it would be, and more. My husband, 1 year old son, and I met my parents there, and there was plenty of room to ensure the baby didn’t bother them and we all had our own space. The lower floor has lots of games and movies for older kids as well. It’s one of those wonderful rentals where it’s obvious the owners like to actually use it for vacations themselves, because it’s well kept, well thought out, and well equipped with anything you might need.
The house is wonderful and comfortable, but the deck was the shining jewel and everyone’s favorite part of the weekend. I was nervous because we’ve never really been out of the house with our pandemic baby, but this rental was really large and easy to keep him out of trouble - by the time he toddled over to something that looked dangerous/fragile, we had enough time to get to him to supervise or stop him. I brought lots of baby gates and fences, but really only needed to block the stairs and move a couple fragile things to higher places. Even the gorgeous deck was pretty safe. One of the rooms downstairs was perfect for my son because it stayed dark for his daytime naps, and was right next to our own master suite. My parents were also very, very happy with their gorgeous master suite upstairs.
The house was very clean - it was obvious the windows and glass around the deck are cleaned often, because there was absolutely nothing to distract from that perfect view. I felt comfortable letting my baby crawl and roll around on the floor, which is really impressive for a house that allows pets and is right next to a sandy beach.
We loved having the convenience store across the road, and the location was a great central location to check out Newport and the Devil’s Punch Bowl to the North, or Yachats and Cape Perpetua to the South. True, there’s no direct beach access, but Seal Rock is a reasonable walk away. It’s a busy road, but the shoulder is wide and I have no shame in wearing high-visibility vests that I keep in the car anyway.
The rental management company was very helpful with a small snafu when we got locked out. None of us had cell service at the house, but I was able to call them from a 5 minute drive away, and they answered during weekend hours.
We hope to make a tradition of renting this house which has a very special place in our hearts; it’s where my parents finally got to meet my son after a heartbreaking year of waiting out the pandemic.

Our family had a fantastic time enjoying the ocean view and comfortable layout of this house. The beach access was a short walk from the house. It was a great weekend getaway.

Amazing view
We held our family reunion at this property. The house was the perfect setting and size for us. The little store across the road was well stocked and the owner was so friendly. It was a perfect week.

Great view
House is very spacious and has a wonderful view. Beach access is a bit precarious- walk down 101 past a few houses (very narrow, no sidewalk) to narrow foot path. Path wouldn’t be for seniors or anyone with any health issues. I would rate the house higher, but it was dirty when we arrived. Literally - dried food scraps on the floor, food stuck to cabinets. Very disturbing during a pandemic. Also, each bathroom had one towel. This seemed problematic for a house that sleeps 10. After a day, we discovered all the towels were still in the dryer.

Wonderful Ocean Experience
Beautiful views and plenty of space for our quilting get together. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For future guests, the main living area is upstairs so we lugged a bit of sewing supplies and coolers up the stairs, but once we got settled in we were good. Found several ways to the beach - a map would be nice. Would love to come back to this house again.

BEWARE this property rental company - make sure the next COVID19 closures give you 60 days notice
I would give Meredith Lodging 0 stars if possible. I contacted them a month before our stay to inquire about the possibility of moving our stay to a later date, since we were scheduled to arrive less than a week after the town reopened for visitors. They responded to my message without bothering to answer my question and without regard for the pandemic and the closures it had caused. They simply informed me that they are sticking to their strict 60-day cancellation policy, and did not appear to care about anything else happening in the world, other than whether the county was preventing them from renting. I told them we had several other people in our group concerned about the COVID-19 virus as they have health issues, but Meredith Lodging didn't care enough to respond.
If you check Google reviews, you will see many other people having issues with Meredith Lodging. If I were to only leave a review for the beach house (Ocean Dream), I would give it 3 out of 5 stars for the following reasons:
Pros:
The house is large, and has lots of space. The kitchen layout was very nice and comfortable to cook in. The house also has beautiful views of the ocean and a propane grill.
Cons:
Location - the house does NOT have direct beach access, which we didn't realize when booking. This wouldn't be a big deal if it was within easy walking distance, but you have to walk along highway 101 to get to the beach. This is not ideal if you have a group with small children, and this needs to be stated in the house description.
The large master bedroom upstairs needs curtains. The large picture window has wonderful views, but if people are on the back deck they can see directly into the bathroom (not so wonderful views)!! This is incredibly awkward if there are people milling around and effectively makes this bathroom unusable during the day. Also, if a few people walk across the large upstairs deck you can feel it shifting from side-to-side, which feels incredibly unstable (I'm not saying it is as I am not an engineer, but having the deck move underneath you is VERY unsettling). Finally, there was nothing in the house informing us of local COVID-19 restrictions, places open, etc.
SUMMARY-
We will NEVER be renting from Meredith Lodging again due to their blatant disregard for the situation caused by COVID19. They seem incredibly unwilling to help their guests. There are plenty of other nice beach houses with property owners that are willing to work with their visitors
