About this house rental
Begin each day with stunning Medomak River water views from Jacobs Place, a unique and beautifully renovated 1884 Cape-style Saltwater Farm set on 15 acres of rolling meadows. This historic property has been transformed and redecorated by a team of architects and interior designers and features a modern architectural interior with big open spaces, taking great care to respect the original structure and features. This Maine home is luxuriously appointed and has been equipped to a very high standard to enable the owners and guests to enjoy it year-round. Every season offers it's particular charm - Spring and Summer offer the classic Maine Vacationland experience, Fall colors are beautiful and we love to spend late afternoons after a hike in front of the outdoor granite fireplace. Winter and especially the Holiday Season is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful interiors and chef's kitchen.
Its New England coastal retreat style, enhanced by locally sourced antiques and unique decorative touches, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is a wonderful place for families and friends to gather in a cozy and very private setting.
There are breathtaking views from the entire ground floor, including the contemporary country-style Chef’s kitchen with state of the art stainless appliances as well as cherry-wood countertops.
Sliding doors from the living/dining area open onto the spacious curved deck that runs the length of the home with steps leading down to the cobblestone circular patio area, which is equipped with a granite fireplace. Complete with built-in seating and LED riser lights, the space extends indoor entertaining outdoors.
The 2400 sqft home has a large open concept living/dining/kitchen space, mixing contemporary design with historic architectural features and custom-built furniture. The spacious ground floor master suite has deck access and a spa-style ensuite bathroom. Upstairs, the 2-room guest suite, 2nd guest room and family/media room offer plenty of additional space.
Your days might start (early or later…) with a morning walk down to the water, possibly with a thermos of coffee as we often do, to sit and enjoy the peaceful views from the bench installed at the water’s edge. Or for those of you so inclined, do your morning exercises watching the sun rise. I myself will tend to open the deck doors from the master bedroom and watch the view from there with my first cup of coffee. You will want to spend time relaxing on the elevated deck while planning trips to the beach or some of the nearby villages and towns such as Damariscotta, Rockland or Camden to name a few. Further afield, you will find spectacular hiking trails available in Camden Hills State Park or Acadia National Park.
If you don’t feel like going out for dinner, get lobster from a local supplier or decide to cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen or simply use the large gas grill on the deck for a simple barbecue. Later in the evening, light a fire in the outdoors granite fireplace, cook smores or just enjoy conversation with your friends and family.

Our family had an incredible stay at this beautiful Waldoboro property. Jim and Mia are very attentive and responsive hosts and the house is spacious, clean, and has amazing water access. We spent a lot of time out on the deck and on the small beach at the edge of the property. There is enough space that we were very comfortable.and the kids had enough space to spread out. Jim and Mia provided a booklet with lots of great recommendations. In the nearby area there are some great places to hike and swim and lots of towns are easily accessible. We had an incredible stay and would love to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again soon! We enjoyed our trips to Camden, Damariscotta and Pemaquid Beach but especially enjoyed our days at the house with its lovely patio and beautiful views. The house was very well equipped especially the kitchen and the hosts provided great information about sites to see in the area.

We have booked dozens of homes over the past 25+ years. This stay may have been the best. The home and the land are special. Quality all around from the bedding to the bath to the chef's kitchen - with perhaps the best hot water on the planet. So much to see and do within 45 minutes in any direction. A magnificent hiking trail and lake are just across the road. The relaxing view from the spacious deck of the cove and trees made it difficult to leave to sightsee. Our gracious hosts made our stay even better. They are kind, responsive and informative. Our stay could not have been better. Hope to return in 2024.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Property is exactly as described. The house is stocked with everything you need. The land is beautiful and the walk to the water is easy. There is a detailed packet with anything and everything you would need or like to know about. Hosts were wonderful and easy to communicate with.

Loved every minute of our stay. It exceeded our expectations! The house and property were gorgeous. The beds were super comfortable. The views were fabulous. And we did see a gang of turkeys. We will be back next year!

no bathroom downstairs for guest to use, only master bedroom. This property looks nice but not for the price, will never go back to this property.

I, my partner and my adult children and their partners spent a very lovely week at this home. The place was really special given the views from the porch and the inside accommodations. The kitchen was very well stocked with cookware, dishes, wine glasses etc. We loved the fire place and walking through the hay field down to the water. All in all I would very gladly recommend this home to everyone looking for a fun, peaceful vacation.

House is beautiful, kitchen well appointed. Excellent location.
A few things not up to par but overall, recommended.

The property is just as beautiful in person as in the photos. It is well appointed and one of the more upscale places I've stayed. The outdoor furniture was perfect - it's usually old plastic chairs, but these were great and we spent many nights drinking wine on the patio!
A couple of travel tips: GPS has the wrong house. Be sure you go to the right one. :) The roads are pretty dark and winding, so be careful when driving. Eat at Moody's!

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at this home. It's very clean, comfortable and well stocked with all of the essentials to make it easy and carefree. Each bedroom has it's own AC unit, which is nice for those warmer nights. Cool game/media room. Located about 2 hours south of Bar Harbor, there was lots to do and explore within only about a 30 minute drive in either direction. We had the luxury of talking to the owner of Odd Alewives Farmhouse Brewery (highly recommend) who gave us the scoop on some places to check out that weren't on our radar. Excellent hiking and swimming locales. Close to the grocery and a corner store that served some really great pizza, all of the conveniences were close at hand. There's a new gas grill and the outdoor space is awesome - we really loved having evening fires in the outdoor fireplace, relaxing with a beverage and having great conversations, especially at the end of a long day exploring the coast. The property and views of the water are excellent. It is quite a long walk (about 10 minutes) down to the water along the mowed path, so be prepared. It was a bit of a soggy walk and once at the water, it's tricky to get down to it, but we didn't find any use in swimming or fishing it. Getting to and from the house was easy, communication with the owners was a breeze. Wish list items would be a hot tub, cornhole, games, kayaks for the water; none were deal breakers. Would highly recommend staying here on your trip to Maine!

Beautiful, comfortable, quiet home with a fabulous yard for picnics and lounging and a lovely walk to the river. Easy day trips for kayaking, the beach, museums in Rockland, galleries in Rockport, shops and restaurants in Damariscotta and Camden and of course hiking in numerous locations.

We loved our stay. The home was exactly as promised and then some! Everything we could possibly need was at the home. We loved the view of the water and the comfort in every space.
There was plenty of room for all of us to have our own space. Also, the neighborhood was really quiet.
The town of Waldoboro was a 5 minute drive, and we loved the coffee shop there. It was also an easy drive to Damariscotta and Camden.
Overall, I would highly recommend this home and would definitely return.

We had a wonderful time. The property was large and comfortable, with lots of space for a large family, and more than enough for our family of 4. The list of local attractions was very useful, and when we lost internet access, the owners were very responsive about getting the issue fixed. The kitchen was well equipped, and we did a lot of cooking.

The house was perfect for us - 4 adults and two children. The house was clean and is well laid out. Nice and well equipped kitchen. Stunningly beautiful views from the house. We loved the deck for meals and relaxing. There were a few small issues that arose during our week but these were quickly and amicably resolved. We really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area - including some freshwater swimming, some ocean beaches, lobster rolls and renting canoes in a nearby estuary.

My brother and I stayed at this property while visiting relatives and doing a bit of family research, tracing several generations of our ancestors who lived in the Waldoboro area. Mia's home was the perfect launching pad to discover this beautiful section of Mid-Coast Maine. The view of the Medomak River every morning is gorgeous, as is the home and surrounding property. This rental home is tastefully decorated, has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Be sure to try Lusty's Catch at the Broad Cove Marine in Bremen---one of Mia's recommendations and not to be missed! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This was the perfect home for our family vacation. The home is spacious and has so much character. The kitchen is great for cooking and fully equipped. We spent every morning eating at the large kitchen table together and every evening outside on the deck and patio. The outdoor fireplace is beautiful and was put to good use. Thanks to Mia for sharing the firewood! The water is a bit of a hike to get down to if you are wanting a closer waterfront but it gave us a gorgeous view. Loved sitting on the outdoor chaise lounges with my coffee looking across the serene view. I can go on and on about this house. We enjoyed much needed solitude together with our daughter, son in law and 9 month old granddaughter. We also spent time sitting in the living room on the window bench and the chairs watching the baby play on the floor with her toys, all while enjoying fresh air with all the windows open. The master bedroom and bath are huge and stunning. Loved the detail of the red original front doors being the doors to our bedroom. The guest room upstairs with the adjacent sitting room worked out perfectly for our daughter and SIL to set up the provided pack and play for the baby. The parking across the road in their 3 car driveway was convenient. Again I could go on and on about how much we loved our stay. Long story long, we would come back again!

An absolute jewel....
Jacob's Place is an absolute jewel. Our family of 5 had an amazing week there. The inside of the house is gorgeous, spacious, uncluttered and and super clean. The property is private with spectacular views and charming outdoor spaces. The large deck is a perfect place for bird watching and relaxing and our family spent hours out there everyday. We tried many of the recommendations made by the owners and loved them all. We can't wait to return!!

Our best family vacation
The owners are lovely and provide a ton of information on both the property itself and Maine. The house is on a quiet street with a beautiful view of the lake. The house was well appointed and equipped and worked very well for a family with kids. We may be planning a return visit soon!

Beautiful property
We had a lovely stay at Jacobs House. We enjoyed our visit to Maine. We sat around the fire, did a puzzle and played games. It felt nice to be in the moment. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Also, for your prompt response when the internet went down.

Beautiful home and property
The location of the home fit perfectly into areas we were interested in exploring. There is privacy but you are not too far from town and access to main roads. There was plenty of space and stocked with all the kitchen items you will need. We loved staying at the home and would recommend to anyone interested in this area.

Perfect a ladies getaway
We felt comforted and joyful from the moment we arrived. The house is immaculate and well stocked. We could gather or spread out as the mood struck us. The fireplace in the back was a favorite. The sunrise over the river was amazing only to be outdone by the full moon over the river. The downstairs is very open with lots of windows and natural light. Very peaceful.

Remarkable and Relaxing
I can’t say enough about this beautiful home and property. We enjoyed every minute we spent here. We took day trips to see the sites of Bar Harbor (2:15 one-way), Boothbay (45 minutes one-way), Rockland Lighthouse/Downtown (30 minutes), and Pemaquid Lighthouse (25 minutes). You are also only 2:45 from Boston.
Mia and Jim were extreme accommodating and communicative. All of the amenities were as described with the exception of the outdoor hot tub. HOWEVER, the soaking tub in the master bath was a dream! The view out of the back of the property was gorgeous.

A hidden gem
We had a wonderful stay at the Jacob’s House. From arrival to departure, we felt like we were personal guests welcomed into an old friends home. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated and the morning light and sunset views can’t be beat. From the well stocked kitchen, to the spa bathroom, to the entertainers deck - this house is a do not miss. We can’t wait to return to this hidden gem!

Perfect Maine Retreat
We had a great stay at the Jacob's Place over the Christmas week. The house was beautiful! The Master Suite with the extra deep soaking tub was our favorite spot. But there were so many cozy places in the house to relax together as a family, but open enough that we could all spread out. The views were stunning. The walks to your private cove and pond made it a truly magical experience for us. The hosts were friendly, responsive, and very generous. We really lucked out with these hosts!. We are already planning our next visit! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful and peaceful getaway
My husband and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. We were looking for beautiful surroundings, comfortable and homey stay, with some perks like a fireplace, a big tub, outdoor space, and a kitchen/grill we could kick in.
This place had all of that and more. This is mid-coastal Maine. So, everything is a bit of a drive, BUT that's what we were looking for. We spent a lot of time at the house relaxing and it was well suited to that for sure. There's plenty of space to spread out for larger groups as well. The house has ample space and little spots you can carve out to read a book, daydream, sleep, relax, etc.
The master has a huge soaker tub that fills with water from the ceiling! It's a marvel and so relaxing. The back deck lines the whole back of the house and is so comfortable. The water is far, but a nice walk.
I loved everything about it and would definitely stay again. Mia was so communicative and gave a lot of thoughtful suggestions.

Peaceful vacation
It was the best way to experience Maine for the first time. It was so peaceful. We tried to come last year, but the lock down didn’t allow it. I’m so glad we came. We'll definitely come back. Thanks again Mia, for all the information, it was very helpful.

Peaceful and exactly what we wanted
This was a great spot for my husband and I and our 4 young adult children. Plenty of cool spaces to spread out, play games, complete a puzzle, cook together — all while taking in the beautiful view out the windows of the back yard/field to the water. We absolutely LOVED the hike to Peter's Pond (starting right across the street). Not too remote. Everything (exploring towns, coast, golfing to supermarket) within a 15-20 minute drive. We would love to come back.

Gorgeous home in rural coastal Maine
My family really enjoyed our stay at Jacob’s place. The home itself is absolutely beautiful with a refined rustic style, clean and well-appointed rooms, and an open floor plan. The game room, master bathroom, and back deck were particular hits with the kids. The home is situated along a quiet, meandering road and feels isolated from other nearby homes given the property size and abundance of trees and greenery. We enjoyed day trips to Pemaquid Beach (big hit with the kids) and nearby seaport towns (Camden, Rockland, Rockport all within 30 min drives). The home is also convenient to a full-service grocery store, making cooking throughout the week a breeze. There are a few things worth noting for prospective renters:
- The home does not have central AC. While there were well-functioning air conditioners in the bedrooms that made sleeping comfortable, the common spaces were a little warm for our liking (high 70s - low 80s), especially during daytime.
- The riverfront is quite far from the home, and while there’s a convenient grass path connecting it to the home, the riverfront itself is very overgrown, making access difficult. We were really looking forward to the waterfront but didn’t get much use out of it beyond the stellar views.
- The home’s location is very peaceful, but be aware that more active attractions are a good drive away. We appreciated being away from the bustle of a town, but families who prefer to be close to the action may find this home too remote.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to others looking for a relaxing Maine getaway.

Lovely property and amazing host
Such a unique property, from the family gaming room to the large soaking tub, and the amazing view of the large meadow and river beyond it. We had a very relaxing stay. Mia is a great host, communicates well, and provided amazing suggestions for exploring and eating in the region. Boothbay and Camden are easy day trips as well. Great location for a quiet Maine vacation.

We’ve rented through VRBO many times and I can honestly say, this was our best experience to date. Not only was the house beautiful, it was perfectly accommodated. Mia and Jim are the absolute best hosts. We and our adult children explored the vast property, enjoyed evenings by the outdoor fireplace, cooked in the well equipped kitchen and even had a rainy day game night in the upstairs game room. As the “grownups “ in the house, my husband and I spent a bit of time soaking in the soothing spa tub in our downstairs master suite. It’s a quick trip (Maine time) to Camden, Dammarascotta and Wiscasset for shopping and dining. Plus oysters from Glidden Point and lobsters from Round Pond made for deliciously fun family cooking nights. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Mia and Jim, and they are two of the loveliest people one could possibly know. The hosts, the house, the property and all the area has to offer - we couldn’t have been more pleased. Thank you , Mia and Jim, for a great family vacation!

Lovely. EXACTLY as Pictured. HIGHLY Recommended
My wife and I stayed a week at this property in April 2021. We like it so much that wanted to extend our stay ANOTHER week, but (sadly) the property was booked for the week after us. It is EXACTLY as pictured. The positive feelings of the place really strike you as soon as you enter. It is clean, well equipped, and everything about the property is of a high standard.
The views of the field and the water are lovely, with geese and turkeys, and other birds in abundance. We just *loved* soaking up the first sun of the season sitting outside in the Adirondack chairs.
Well heated (night time temps were in the 30s when we visited). Lovely remote-control propane-fired "woodstove". Comfortable beds with good quality sheets and blankets. Plenty of hot water. All manner of kitchen equipment, dishes and glasses, all in good repair. Big, clean, stainless steel topped, kitchen island made it easy for us to avoid cross-contamination for my wife's food allergies (including Celiac).
The owners provide excellent, clear, information about the property and things to do in the surrounding area... with OUTSTANDING attention to detail, and were *very* responsive to questions throughout the week.
While lovely and rural and quiet, the location is also surprisingly convenient. There's a small Hannaford's supermarket 10 mins away in Waldoboro, and a *big* Hannaford's is less than 20 mins away in Damariscotta (open until 10PM every night, except Sunday... when it's open until 9PM). A life-saver for us when we realized at 9PM on the day of our arrival that we had forgotten something important.
While the Internet connection is excellent, the house wouldn't be perfect for Work-From-Home as there's really not a great spot that's setup as a desk (unless you want to work from the combined kitchen/dining area). That's not a complaint... it is merely an observation.
We loved our stay, and we're already planning a return visit.
HIGHLY recommended.

Perfect couple's getaway location!
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. The house had everything we needed for a quiet trip away from the responsibilities of everyday life. Would be good for families too. Very clean, loved the well-stocked kitchen and unique jacuzzi in the master bath. Only disappointing thing was that we thought we caught a glimpse in the photos of an outdoor hot tub (which was not advertised) so we were hoping we might have that too! It is on the property but not actually hooked up. All in all we had a great time and definitely recommend.
