Great Stay
Clarence & Toni are both amazing hosts! The apartment is exactly as pictured. It is homey & dated, so if you prefer updated modern lodging, look elsewhere, but you'd be missing out. It has everything anyone could need supply wise from kitchen supplies, toiletries, linens & food. Clarence provided bread, chicken fresh eggs, milk, applesauce, pudding, crackers, popcorn, granola bars, single packet oatmeal, bran cereal, tea bags, coffee, sugar, water bottles, brownie mix, peanut butter, & jam. This was a God send for our week stay as we didn't have to go run down food right away after a lengthy trip from the east coast. As others have mentioned, there are some house rules such as taking off your shoes before entering (they provide house slippers), & for a week+ stay asking permission to use the shared washer & dryer. WIfi code & apartment tour, house rules provided at check in. They do store some food (in freezer) & bottled wine in the a closet in the apartment. Clarence & Toni live upstairs so there are typical daily movement sounds. It is quiet at night after about 10pm. Ear plugs recommended if the sounds concern you. We never felt the house rules, item storage, or upstairs sounds made any part of our stay inconvenient. The back yard is delightful with flowers, fruit trees, chickens, squirrels, and a picnic bench. Spent a lovely afternoon watching the squirrels & listening to the birds. Words really don't do it justice. Mukilteo is a lovely small town. Staying at Clarence's is about as close to being next to the ferry as you can get. Wonderful walk from lodging down to the beach, lighthouse, & ferry terminal. Plenty of places to eat near the waterfront & in the town business district. A small retail center with Red Cup Cafe ( great little coffee shop), restaurants, a gift shop, & a local chocolate shop a half mile walk from the lodging. (Check for operating hours.) The town community center is across from the retail center & is a beautiful venue. Charming town, especially with the sun out, magnificent views of the Olympic peninsula? (Clarence correct me if I'm wrong) to the west & Mt Baker to the east. You can ask Clarence & Toni anything, they are willing to help, fun to talk with & generous. A highlight for us was Clarence & Toni sharing tree picked pears & apples, and potatoes from the garden as well as giving us our own jug of his homemade apple cider made with their apples.. It was delicious!

Beautiful Property
My family and myself stayed here for 3 nights, with a 3 year old and a 7 year old.
The host was very welcoming and congenial yet conscious of giving his guests privacy. The living space was great with a living room and two bedrooms, so when we came back from our day time adventures, we made our meal and rested for the night. There was a park close, within a 10 minute walking distance! The only part that I would caution to families with small children, is that there are a lot of porcelain, glass, and breakable items. Our kids did great and it wasn't a problem for us. I hightly recommend staying here.

Lovely Stay
The property is lovely. His backyard is wonderful. I wish we had more time to sit and enjoy the serenity he has created. Bees, chickens, flowers, produce, bits and pieces of art, combined with different seating/lounging areas really made it feel like a complete backyard experience. The inside was just as lovely, covered with little nick-nacks from his own travels around the world. The kitchen was fully stocked: eggs, bread, meat, juice, butter, milk, cookies, and snacks. We never even had to go to the market. The beds were comfortable and clean. Clarence really went out of his way for us. He was always available for questions, and full of ideas of what to do, and tricks of the "locals". We loved our stay and will stay again if we find ourselves in the area!!!

FANTASTIC STAY
My recent stay at the Elstad property was fabulous. Clarence remained in touch with me prior to my and my mother's arrival and warmly greeted us. He was an absolutely gracious host. The bottle of wine was a nice touch and really tasted good. We wanted for nothing and he was always available to answer any questions we may have had. The house was very accommodating, at ground level so my 82 year old mother did not have to climb any stairs. The location of this property is to die for: We walked to the beach, ferry, restaurants. It was simply delightful. I will be seeking this property on future visits to the area and highly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting the Seattle/Everett/Mukilteo area.

Friendly and thoughtful host
We appreciated being welcomed so warmly by Toni, even though Clarence was away during our stay. The fresh eggs, homemade wine, and new potatoes from the garden were wonderful treats. Not having to rush out for food and having staples was a big plus, especially since we arrived by plane and after a week long cruise. The beds were comfortable and although a tad small overall the apartment was fine for 3 days and the 3 of us. We all enjoyed the many souvenirs displayed from Clarence's travels and our 13 year old especially appreciated the novel salt shaker from Holland. I did not realize until we arrived that there was no dishwasher. Kitchen was adequately stocked. (Lots of wine glasses and what we needed for cooking but we would have liked a few more dinner knives and drinking glasses.) It was very pleasant to hang out in the backyard with the free range chickens after short drives to great hiking and a visit to the Boeing Factory. It was a little disconcerting to find out about the house rules after we booked it (e.g., no shoes in the apartment, Clarence has food in the freezer and lots of wine stored throughout the apartment not for your use, the washer and dryer are only for use if you stay a week, leave the apartment cleaner than you found it) even though we had no problem with any of these requests. Otherwise the description and other reviews are accurate and we felt like this was reasonably priced for a great location and pleasant get away.

Great host, location, and apartment!
Clarence, the host, and his family were very pleasant, organized, and unobtrusive. The apartment felt very homey and provide all the needed amenities. The location was far enough away from Seattle and close enough to the ocean to provide a relaxing & enjoyable environment; however, Seattle was only about 40 minutes away. Everette was very close and took care all our grocery and shopping needs (Cabelas, outlet mall, casino, and gym are a short drive away).. The backyard contains a beehive, garden, and a quite sitting area. The apartment was roomy enough for two couples and a teenager. Audio, video, and internet are provide: however, there is too much to do outdoors to use it much. Outstanding host, apartment, and location. We will probably book the same location on our next visit.
