About this house rental
Chapel Bethel was last used as a Chapel in 1982 and had been unused and unloved until we started the conversion which was completed early in 2006. It is a fantastic property set over three floors and offers spacious and flexible accommodation for a large family or number of families.
Trawsfynydd is located within the Snowdonia National Park and is within easy driving distance of Zip World, Snowdon, Porthmadog, Portmerion Italianate Village, Ffestiniog Railway, Llechwedd Slate Caverns and Harlech Castle. The fantastic beaches at Cardigan Bay and the Llyn Penisula are nearby. There is a good selection of shops within the village and pubs serving food close by.
On the ground floor are two bedrooms - one double and one twin. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with separate bath and shower. The well appointed kitchen, dining area with seating for 12 and comfortable sitting area can also be found on the ground floor. The kitchen is fitted with a built in double electric oven and a 5 ring gas hob. There is a large fridge and separate chest freezer plus plenty of pots, pans, cutlery and crockery.
On the mezzanine floor there is a second sitting area with wood burner and TV with freeview and a DVD player. There is also a bedroom with bunk beds and a cloakroom.
On the top floor there are three further bedrooms - one double with en-suite shower room, one single and a family room with one double bed and 2 single beds. There is also a bathroom on this floor with separate bath and shower.
Due to the nature of the building, there are secondary means of escape from the first floor. Only able bodied people can be accommodated in the mezzanine and 1st floor bedrooms.
Outside is parking for up to three cars and there is a garden area with feature slate table with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
Heating is provided by gas central heating.
There is no WiFi at the property

We were a bit shocked when we arrived that the property was situated on a narrow road with houses on either side and opposite. Soon got used to the parking as there is room for three cars on the drive.
Location is very picturesque and the kids loved it down by the river in the village.
The bedrooms and living spaces were fantastic. Only negative was the unpleasant drain smell which we could not get rid of, even after the host suggested running plenty of water down the traps.

We had a really great week here.
The property is huge with multiple areas to relax. The kitchen is very well stocked. The location is fantastic to reach all major north Wales tourist sites.
Some minor negative points.
No WIFI or microwave and the TV should be upgraded to a larger one.

Such a beautiful and spacious home, we felt it had all we needed and much more, lots of space for our 4 families to get togethe. Well set out and excellent space for everyone to be able to eat, cook and play together with everything that we needed. The kids loved the upstairs seating area as the was so much space for them to play. The adults loved we could keep an eye on them while we had space to cook and enjoy the safe feeling they were close by. The bedroom very spacious and nicely laid out and lovely and clean. The area is lovely loads to visit only short car ride away. The host is very helpful snd friendly.

We all enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. It worked really well for grandchildren from two 3 yos to 20, safe for the little ones to go from floor to floor, and we all liked the way we could be in different spaces but we could hear eachother which was very companionable.
We welcomed the good number of bathrooms and loos.
Wonderful kitchen / dining area which encouraged all our gang to join in cooking and clearing, and great for us all to sit round the fabulous table.
Our littlest one had been concerned about a freezer bit enough for his ice-cream reqirements, it was ( phew) and kindly supplied with a generous stock by Kath.

Fabulous property. Even managed 4 vehicles on parking which is on site. Amazing property.

Fantastic property. Very spacious, lots of cooking and kitchen supplies and an ideal base for exploring local area. Stayed with 3 families with various ages and we had a fantastic time and loved it

We enjoyed our stay here, it’s ideally located in a village but with a shop nearby. We were three families and the layout of the property was ideal for this. We visited Snowdon and the deep mine which are both about a 20 minute drive away

The property was clean and had ample space for our group. Kitchen was really well equipped.
Easy check in process.
The general area is lovely, only small downside is not lots within walking distance.

This has been a perfect venue for our family gathering. It is extremely spacious and there are plenty of bathrooms. We really enjoyed sitting round the table as a family and there was loads of space and room for everyone.
We enjoyed eating outside at the slate table but would bring a cushion out next time!!
Thanks for having us and we would like to return xx perfect location to go up and down the coast! Xx

The accomodation was lovely but it needs more cleaning and maintenance as there was a few oroblems
Lovely but we would not go back until it had a thorough clean and sort out the maintenance problems.I messaged Kath about a few problems which she promptly replied but one of the problems was a broken toilet seat on our first day and the smell in the same bathroom but it was never repaired or sorted .

Pictures over promise, TLC required
First impressions are good, large spacious property.
However the closer you look the more disappointing you become. Making your own beds after a long journey isn't ideal.
A bit of a local information pack would be helpful, amenities etc.
Had to clean the entire cutlery draw on arrival, also found dirty cups in cupboard. Some new plates and bowls would be a fairly inexpensive improvement. Overall the cleanliness was disappointing.
Two of the double mattresses are lumpy and have a dip to the middle.
The top floor bathroom w/c pan has a brown stain, due to the constant running of water overflowing from the cistern. This isn't an overnight thing. It must of been running for days if not weeks. Sadly this reflects poor maintenance and the lack of reinvestment.

Very spacious and perfectly situated for exploring Snowdonia. There are local shops & a pub within 5 mins walk of the property but there aren't any supermarkets in the local area.

We loved The Chapel
This was perfect for our family of 11 across 3 generations, especially being able to dine all art one table. Location was handy for our cycling and walking outings and not far from the wonderful beach at Harlech. We all had a lovely time, thank you.

Lovely property - great layout and a superb base. Worked well for two families with different aged children. Well stocked with good parking. Thank you so much!

lovely place
great house lovely area. kitchen easy to cook and serve up food for large numbers. I hadn't read the instructions so take towels ( if not Tesco in Portmadog has some ) . Bit unusual to make up own beds but not a problem. we were blessed with great weather so we're outside lots and played cards in the evenings but might be good to update television possibly. no WiFi a blessing for me but again unusual now in holiday homes. all in all we had a great few days and the countryside is stunning. everyone was very friendly in the village.

Great space
Plenty of space for all to eat around the table.
3 areas where 6/7 can sit, with all being able to sit together on the first floor. Great for a trip not in the summer, managed an Easter egg hunt inside the house for the three girls.
Very quirky layout with plenty of bathrooms.

great find for relaxing weekend
very spacious and accommodating property that made for a great base for a sociable weekend. Great location with easy walk from front door into countryside. Convenient local pub, though can’t say what it was like as the chapel was too comfy to leave, with a great kitchen for cooking in.

Lovely stay
Firstly the good:
The chapel was lovely and included various bedroom options, from bunk bed to twin + 1, twin, doubles and single. Whilst not all bedrooms were en-suite, there were enough bathrooms and baths!
Communication for Kathryn was always fast and she was really helpful.
Two relaxing sofa areas - 1 on the mezzanine with a tv and dvd.
Well placed in the village, the Cross Foxes pub, served nice meals (good value) and was a couple of minutes walk away.
We had a lovely walk round the lake and over the footbridge.
Now other things to note:
Whilst the information was clear and concise (so we were pre warned) - only having the hot water on for a few hours in the morning, after a hike or just a want for a bath or shower later, the hot water being on for a couple of hours early evening would have ben helpful.
Again, we can’t complain we didn’t know but check out at 10am felt a little early (11am would have been so much better - time for more relaxed showers and breakfast before bed stripping, bin emptying etc)
However, these little niggles didn’t impact our sta too negatively, they were just things that would have enhanced it.
All 8 of us had a lovely weekend break and said we’d return.

Large and cheap space for families
The space is large and cheaper than most places for multiple families to stay. The double metal frame beds are not really suitable for 2 individuals you end up sinking in the middle, but the divan and the singles where ok. The house was genarlly clean with some dusting required around the lamps and corners of the rooms. All in all we had a lovely time.

Lovely property great facilities and access to the outdoor sports locally. Do believe you can only bring 3 cars the parking is tight but you can fit 3

Fantastic property - but terrible beds
The Chapel was really lovely - very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The photos don't actually do it justice as it is much bigger and better than it looks. The downstairs living area was very comfortable and perfect for the 6 of us to socialise. We also bought some firewood and sat in the mezzanine area in front of the wood burner on one of the evenings which was really nice and cosy as we heard the rain battering the roof! The only negative thing about the whole property were the beds. The mattresses were probably the most uncomfortable we have slept in - they were thin and sagged in the middle. It was a shame as every other attention to detail throughout the house was top quality. So with new mattresses this would be a 5 star property!
The local area was ideal for visiting and climbing Snowdon. There's not a lot in the village except a convenience shop and a pub. The staff there were very nice and friendly but the food in the pub was awful! Take our advice and drive out of the village to eat!
But all in all a very pleasant place to stay.

Lovely and tastefully decorated Chapel. Very well located for a number of outdoor activities such as rafting, mountain biking and climbing.

Beautiful spacious accommodation
We needed lots of bedrooms which this place certainly had. Plenary of room to spread out if needed although we spent most of the time around the large dining room table.
Says only gets three cars in drive but if you can drive well, easily get 4 in.
Lovely, typical welsh village so beautiful to walk around

Great Location
Everywhere we wanted to go was 20minutes away - the chapel is a perfectly located spacious accommodation for 2 families with children. Loved the village, we had great weather so a more useable outside space would have been a bonus. Owner was responsive to queries.

Large family friendly property
Great communications throughout, we had a few minor issues however nothing that detracted from the overall stay.

Quirky but spacious.
Plenty of room for all to have own personal quiet time, plus shared areas big enough for everyone. We didn't miss WiFi because we took games and played together. There's parking for three cars but it's tricky to get in/out if all the neighbours are home as it's a narrow street. The children loved hearing and spotting sheep. Great location for steam trains and beaches.

Sunny trip to Trawsfynydd
A great house over three levels. We stayed there - two families of four (mostly) adults. Plenty of space to spread out - or to be together. Definitely recommended!

Beautiful, spacious and characterful property
I cannot praise this location enough. The chapel was beautiful with a well equipped kitchen, large comfortable lounge spaces and lovely bedrooms. We were fighting over who got to try which bathroom as they were all so special! The village was lovely and right in the heart of the gorgeous parts of north wales and the locals were so friendly and helpful - the local pub is well worth a visit for food, especially at weekends when they put on a fuller menu.
We will be back as we didn't even begin to explore all of the lovely roads around the area.
