Definitely recommend this place !

- great breakfast ! lots of choices - easy parking 1 block away (easy in & out to roadways for day trips) - good water pressure - GREAT, GREAT location onthe canal in the middle town. Easy to walk thruout the old town.

- disappointed not to be in the old original building, however, my room a few buildings away was great ! (see pic below) - no safe for passport & valuables (I understand that it isn't 'needed', however, it is still uncomfortable for travellers not to have this standard item.) - WIFI is unsecured (which is also unusal these days for travellers) - had to ASK for a hairdryer and then discovered it wouldn't work in the bathroom outlet. - I was in Rm 32, it definitely was not soundproofed as I easily heard conversations, showers & toilets around me.

Comfortable apartment in the middle of Dokkum

Friendly and helpful staff, made us feel welcome. Spacious and comfortable apartment right in the middle of the old town. Shops and restaurants only meters away and short city walks with historic sights possible. Lots of privacy with the apartment separate but right next to the hotel and the comfort of a balcony, washing machine and plenty of space to prepare your own food. Well equipped kitchen and modern bathroom. A lovely balcony. Enjoyed preparing food in the kitchen and eating it with my family at the dining table. A place I would like to come back to. Very pleasant stay!

When we wanted to watch television it was hard to sit with more than 3 people. A little different set-up of the room could easily remedy that. The balcony was clearly not yet used after the winter and very slippery and dirty due to the algae growing on the rubber tiles. With a good scrub, easily fixed. Unfortunately there was no brush otherwise I would have done it.

Really impressed with staff providing vegan food for evening meal and breakfast.

Took me a little while to realise my room was freezing because the radiators were turned off. After adjustment of the thermostat the room was fine..

Old building without lift, my 90 year old mother had to walk all the way up to the top floor, it was really very heavy for her. The room was very old and the toilet/shower room made so much noise, we couldn’t sleep.

We enjoyed our stay.

It was an appartment with 3 bedrooms our own sitting room own front door. As we were two couples plus a child we would have prefered 2 double bed rooms but was acceptable for 3 nights a double and 2 twins.

The very steep stairs especially with the small child we had to keep the living room door locked so that the child didnt get out as they could have easly fallen down the very steep stairs. In the uk we wouldnt be allowed to have such stairs but we found a number of place in the Neitherlands with exactly the same extreemly steep stairs.

In general, everything is very well taken care of in hotel and restaurant. Just in my room the “hook” to hang the shower was broken which meant I had to hold it myself. It’s something that can easily be fixed.

Restaurant and location are biggest asset

The location and ambiance of restaurant are great. There is a secure parking for bicycles. Dinner choices are excellent.

The room is very small and the bathroom has the size you expect in a camper. Both could use improvements. TV and coffe machine not working properly.

Great location in centre of Dokkum. Very pictoresque with nice view on the channel side and good place to explore Dokkum.

My friend did not like his bed. My room on the backside on the alley was noisy.

Great location, with a very nice view. Lively, but not noisy.

It is a cafe/restaurant with a hotel and not the other way round. The reception is located at the bar and the staff is extremely busy with serving the meals so they can't really give the necessary attention to the hotel guests.

Master Cards refused

The situation on the bank of a canal. OK continental breakfast, tasty dinner.

Check-in staff refused to accept my Master Card, and the restaurant staff later refused to accept any credit card, including Visa. When I refused to pay in cash, the bill was charged to my room- and paid with Visa on checking out. The hotel needs to sort out its policy and educate its staff.

Friendly staff - a nice hotel in a beautiful town

Great location and friendly staff. Nice restaurant and lots of options. Clean room, good size.

It was noisy - this might have been just because first day after lockdown easing. The shower and toilet were clean but rather small.

Could be better

It worked in a way as we were soaked to the bone upon arrival and could be in our room quite quickly after payment. We could also park our bikes in their garage area in a third building. After remarking on how unkind their serving is, the staff changed her behaviour towards us positively and the cook is good, too. The dinner was good quality. In the end it just worked for our 1 night stay.

Hospitality is not part of the game here. Despite its name that sounds to be a traditional hotel incuding its services, it just reached the level that one calls a hotel. There were bugs and spiders in the room, nothing too harmful, but could have been cleaner. We were not in the main building either, had to cross over in rain each time. There was no openable window in the room to air out. The air was stuck in the room and only a door to a back area was our option to air out and the main door to get a draft at least before sleeping. I would rather have changed for sth else normally, if we weren't so badly in need of a hot shower straight away being soaked in cold rain previously.
