The staff were polite and friendly and the bathroom in the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice with a good selection of food available
The bar wasn't open and there was no dinner service of which we weren't informed when we booked. The swimming pool didn't meet our expectations.

Stairs and no lifts, sound insulation from room above

Cool faded glamour (we were in the Grand hotel bc building), lovely staff.
Room decor a teeny bit tired, bathroom silicone needed re doing (bit moldy) and middle of the night fire alarm/evacuation was a bit of a hassle. But I’d definitely book again, I liked the place. It’s charming.

Front desk very helpful.

The room was a lot nicer than we had anticipated.
The bed was firm and the pillows were quite big we had to use one. Reception staff were lovely
Shower took a while to warm up
Breakfast was not great - if it wasnt included we would not of eaten - the breakfast waiter as my other half said to me felt like he was a bit off with us (as a gay couple) as he hardly spoke to use or made eye contact but 2 women walked in and he was talkative with him

Great location for the beach front, good size room, lovely rainfall shower, allocated parking, good breakfast
Our room was an adjoining room ( locked on both sides as we weren't with the other party), however sound travelled through the door - we were woken very early by a noisy child and their television - not the fault of the hotel but perhaps something for them to bear in mind when allocating family / non-family rooms.
Room was very hot but they do have a small desk fan in the wardrobe (unfortunately we didn't spot this until we were leaving as we didn't use the wardrobe!)

It was like an apartment, very spacious, lovely architecture and high ceilings, quality black out curtains, having access to the terrace, really good powerful shower. The hotel it self has lovely decor throughout from the reception area to the hallways, the lounge, and the dinning area with outside view, and a nice size indoor swimming pool.
I really cant say that there was anything i didnt like.

The staff were friendly and helpful
Where to start. It’s very tired. Our room is not fit for purpose and should never be rented to anyone until serious work is done on it. Seems to be neglected all over very sad.

Great location & friendly staff
The hotel was tired both in side and out
The room had a stale odor
The room was tidied but wasn't hovered in 5 nights some of the sides were not cleaned
Shower head was shocking
Outside pool was closed & the inside pool area was grubby, jacuzzi was fairly disgusting

The breakfast was nice and the location was good in some respects.
1. We booked Abbey Sands Executive Room and for moved to a Family room in The Grand.
2. We were directly over the train station and had the rumble and announcements non stop.
3. Nothing executive about our room, tired and dated.
4. We were pretty much the furthest room away from anything and only 1 lift working.
5. My wife ordered a Pina Colada. They made it all wrong and didn't even put pineapple juice in it until we asked.
6. No spa or sauna.... apparently burnt down.
7. Floor was uneven, like a fairground wobbly floor. Really hurt my knee scuffing on it.
Overall the Torquay Grand Hotel was extremely Bland Hotel. It was not the experience we paid for nor the hotel we wanted to stay in.

Size of room, location and friendliness of staff. The breakfast is worth every penny.
Decor could do with a bit of an update/attention.
6.0 / 10.0
The hotel was a bit tired decoration wise and the tv was small. The outdoor pool was not in use and the indoor pool was very small. Mattresses were very hard on the bed.
Beds, and air conditioning would have helped.

You transformed us to Grand Hotel, so we never stayed at Abbey Sands Hotel. That why I can't rate a stay there
