The whiskey bar was fantastic, dined in there twice.
Luv the whole decor, maybe new carpet needed.

The close proximity to the Opea House was a bonus. The close proximity to the Cahill Expressway and the Motorway out of town was excellent for me and saved me a heap of driving time between appointments in Holsworthy and Kuring-gai. I also benefited from the carpark having an elevator joined between it and the hotel Lobby and acommodation levels.
The hotel is an example of the splendour of original Sydney high level accommodation. Some of the artefacts held by the hotel are showing their age such as some of the Persian carpets and a heavily ornated clock (needs a good clean).

Location was fabulous. The hotel is beautiful but could do with an upgrade but I imagine that would then reflect in price. The staff were terrific and we enjoyed our stay.
The shower - hardly any pressure
4.1
Very comfortable and warm
It would have been nice to have a couple of bottles of water complimentary

Everything went fine, the room was spacious and if you are going to the opera house the location is great.
Bit of repairs needed in the toilet skirting boards but seriously it was great.
4.1
Location fabulous! Close to circular Quay railway station and ferries as well as the Opera House! Breakfast was good but the coffee was very strong! Large, comfortable rooms and very friendly service. Restaurant was well priced!
The deodoriser used in the foyer

Location is great, decor is great but in need of a spruce up, wallpaper falling off walls, bathrooms looking very tired.
Property needs upgrade.
The front of house staff needs to be improved a lot. The gentleman who checked us in didn’t seem to listen to us and we requested a 12 noon late checkout which he agreed to do for us , he forgot to do it.
Room service late in the evening is terrible. We had a pizza and hummuos, both of which were sub standard. The pizza was probably the worst I’ve ever had in a hotel.

Location was good, bed was comfortable
We were forced to pay an additional $64 for breakfast which we did not have. We were offered a discounted breakfast voucher on arrival but given no advice that this voucher was non refundable and would be charged whether we used it or not. The reservation manager on check out was not interested at all in the unfairness of this and insisted that we should have read the fine print on the voucher and that the hotel had no obligation to tell us that it was non refundable nor had any intention of discussing the problem. We felt ripped off and will not ever return. We will advise all our acquaintances both professionally and personally of our experience and impress on them never to stay at any Sir Stanford Hotel.

Friendly staff , spacious rooms and very comfortable beds . Lovely view onto Macquarie St . Very central to the Botanical Gardens and Circular Quay.
A little dated compared to most of the hotels in the area
4.1
Great location just a 2 minute walk from Circular Quay.
Even had a room with a small harbour view.
Historic hotel with beautiful old world charm.
4.1
Location was spot on for us - less than 5 mins walk to the Opera House and Circular Quay.
The room was huge. The bed huge. The bathroom huge. We had a juliette balcony, which was nice to let fresh air in. We could see the new huge cruise ship in the harbour.
There was a fridge in our room which was handy.
The toiletries provided were lovely and stocked up each day.
The shower was spacious, powerful and hot.
Breakfast was extra and OK. We only had it one morning as we were so close to a lot of eateries we just ate on the go the other mornings.
The room is looking a little tired. I imagine it was beautifully grand when it was done last but is now getting ready for a refurb. For example, in our room, the lampshades were torn, and the wooden furniture was marked with scuffs and cup stains, and the cupboard door to the fridge was hanging off almost. It was clean and comfortable, and everything worked however..

Staff were so great at making us feel welcome and to work out logistics of coming and going. Location was awesome.
Can't really say there was something I didn't like.
4.1
Great location and rooms comfortable and spacious.
Needs a little maintenance. Some doors stick and some of the old furniture is in need of repairs.

I love the classic look and feel of the hotel. We had the terrace room for our anniversary stay.

Pleasant surprise to receive an upgrade.
Room was very spacious and with a view of Circular Quay 😊
Daycore and furnishings were a bit dated

The hotel is old but modern. We loved the art work, and the staff were amazing. Just around the corner from Circular Quay.
Nothing

Close to everything
Breakfast was okay but could be improved

ロケーションが抜群
夕方、ホテル前に停まっている車の安全装置の音がよく鳴ってうるさかった。ホテルのせいではないでしょうが2日ともによく起きていたので。

Excellent location and pleasant interior .
Lack of restaurant and bar on Sunday evening. Poor uncomfortable chairs in breakfast room. Poor breakfast selection

Location and friendly staff
Nothing the hotel is great

We've been staying at The Sir Stamford for around 17 years due to its proximity to my daughter's medical professionals. The location is unbeatable
The coffee cups in our room weren't clean. The left hand tap in the powder room leaked all over the basin each time we turned it on. All of the air intake vents throughout the property were in dire need of cleaning. Of recent years the service has fallen by the wayside. There's no longer a valet to park your vehicle, they've removed the doorman. Those little things really make a difference to a luxury hotel.

Lovely spacious room with all facilities, very clean

We love sir Stamford for its old school feel, friendly and helpful staff and central location.
Nope. It was all good 😁

Decor

The room was large and spacious and quiet, the bed very comfortable. The Highlander Whisky Bar had a good collection and was a good meeting point.
The fittings in the bathroom and the room generally were dated and the shower leaked persistently.
4.1
Fabulous classic style hotel in a perfect location.
Upset to think this classic hotel could be demolished next year as the site has been sold.
4.1
Excellent service and such an elegant hotel with a great location.
I don't have a bad word to say about the hotel.
4.1
Free upgrade. Very helpful, friendly staff

Quiet luxuriousness of heritage style.

The service and the staff were excellent and the food was wonderful. The room was beautiful and we loved it.
4.1
Beautiful room with a fabulous view looking out over the harbour from Macquarie street. Just a great atmosphere and easy to walk to the art gallery. Convenient for the ferries and the Opera house, we always love to stay there when we visit Sydney.

Location. Large room.
The bar closed at 9.30pm. I would have expected better tea and coffee facilities in the room. The sachets looked tired and wrinkled. Only instant coffee provided. Surely coffee bags are a better choice. There were no biscuits provided for tired travelers. I ordered coffee from room service which was most welcome but i would have thought that a small biscuit would come as a standard. I felt it lacked hospitality. The room was very tired furnishings chipped and worn. Staff across the board lacked polish. Walls were very thin and when I complained I was told that if it happened again to call staff and they would come up and listen. I tried to make the point that neighbors weren't being loud they were just talking and perhaps it was that the rooms were badly laid out. Rooms were hardly welcoming

nice room
