Very peaceful with lovely views from our balcony. We unfortunately couldn’t try the restaurant for an evening meal as they had a family emergency.
The Lidl down the road did a lovely salad and meats

Nice staff and good restaurant. Good quality and value for money for the 3 star hotel. We were upgraded to a larger room, appartement.

Really beautiful hotel and one which I will 100% visit again. Really nice breakfast and friendly hotel staff. The rooms are very beautifully decorated - so much so that out of all the hotels we visited in South Germany, this stood out and over ceded our expectations!
The internet speed in the basement is unfortunately very slow, so we would have to go upstairs to get the work done. The menu didn't have many vegetarian options. There is also bad cell reception in general. But all of this is nothing compared to how beautiful the hotel is and how secluded it feels from the rest of the world.

We had a comfortable and cosy room with a terrasse.
The hotel was understaffed which sadly led to some mistakes. We were given a wrong dessert and a faulty bill. Luckily I was on my toes. Otherwise we would have paid the room twice. The automatic non-refundable payment made by Booking wasn't deducted from the bill. Big mistake, in my opinion, which is so easily avoided since the hotel owner just has the check the booking details on the computer. Sloppy.
The sauna was a bit meh.

Everything was super nice and we would love to spend a longer time here. Lovely hotel, large comfy bed, extremely kind and accommodating staff, great breakfast with a variety of sweet and savoury options, sauna and solarium available on request. Pickup from train station was arranged at short notice, which we greatly appreciated as our trip was very spontaneous. We enjoyed our delicious and hearty dinner at the restaurant. Through our stay we also received a free Hochschwarzwald Card with discounts and offers for local sightseeing.

Charming hotel in a quiet village somewhat off the main road, with various good hiking options directly from the hotel. I love the rustic decor of the both the rooms and the restaurant, and the balcony from my room had an impressive view of the mountains.
One of the rooms we had (on the ground floor) was long and rectangular, with only bay windows on the far side of the room, making it rather dark even during daytime. It was also fitted with a rather bulky double bunk bed (accommodating up to four people), when a normal double bed would have been more convenient and spacious. Also note that the terraces are located between the bays, meaning that one of the bay windows looks onto the next room's terrace. The other room (on the first floor, with a balcony) was perfect though.
At breakfast, there was no fresh fruit and the bread wasn't very fresh either.

I liked the hotel, itself. Friendly staff, great breakfast, good location, and good value.
I booked and paid for the standard Double Room. When I arrived at the hotel, there was no one at the front desk. There was an instruction saying that I got an upgrade to a better Double Room. However, it turned out it was a double booking that someone else was already staying in the room (#01) that was assigned to me. Not knowing what to do, I took the next available Double Room (#02). Then, someone showed up later at night and claimed it. I had to move to another tiny single room for the night. A gentleman at the front desk the next morning, apologized to me but this was already the after the fact.

Perfect base camp for hiking and biking tours in the Southern Black Forest. Easy walk to the Feldberg summit right form the house.
Very friendly staff and excellent inhouse dining.
It's a bit of a drive to get there but didn't you want to get far away from the madding crowd in the first place?
