Excellent breakfast. Great, helpful staff. Beautiful gardens. Good access to Chatsworth, Buxton, Matlock, Cheshire.
Nothing!

The staff would certainly make you feel welcomed and special. Great management.
Restaurant is brilliant, breakfast was perfect.
And the lunch pack even on the day of departure was a fantastic touch.
We also loved the well-maintained beautiful garden. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you all.

The packed lunches are an excellent addition which meant we could do a full day hike without having to think of anything.
The evenings playing board games in front of a log fire the perfect end to a day of walking.
Very comfortable rooms, great breakfast, lovely helpful staff.
Highly recommend, we will be back!
Nothing really.

Breakfast was delicious and included proper Staffordshire oatcakes!
They upgraded my room for free and there was a complimentary prosecco and packed lunch.

The staff were all excellent, food good and lovely extras such as complimentary drinks in the room and a lunch to take away. Room was lovely but wish I’d taken some indoor footwear as stone floor was a little cold and wasn’t completely clean. we had planned on taking a dog but changed our minds due to the weather so we had booked a room for a dog to stay.

Full of character, warm, cosy, so comfortable and perfectly situated to reach many of the gorgeous places in the area.
Can’t think of anything

staff, food
room was quite stuffy and smoke came up from staff smoking outside

Couldn't believe the place was available. Historically interesting and a real atmosphere and beauty. A working business that seemed to run well for the staff also
My milk in the fridge was sour, unless it was yoghurt.

Hotel would not allow me to change dates even though I explained my husband had been rushed into hospital. This charged over £180 for a room we could not use. Booking.com customer services also unhelpful and did not respond to my requests for help.....they asked me to review my stay!!!!!!????

staff was amazing and the service they provided was excellent

Great value. Very lovely and attentive staff.
Room a bit small. Decor could be refreshed.

Excellent quality breakfast. The restaurant in the evening also had lovely food. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Added bonus of a packed lunch each day which we weren't expecting! Location was great, close to lots of excellent walking routes and Tissington Trail for biking.
Room was quite small (expected as old building) but had sloped roof and was not good for us (as we're tall). Partner kept hitting his head in the shower as it was so low, so if you are tall I would recommend mentioning that when you book so you don't get a room with sloping ceiling!

Clean, friendly, great location, gorgeous setting and old buildings. Dog friendly, fab breakfast.

Liked the extras, drink in the room, packed lunch, real milk in the mini bar and underfloor heating in the dining room
Nothing to dislike

Breakfast really good, location good for walking, and if you want to drive to Buxton, Ashbourne or Matlock. Also the packed lunch was a nice touch.
Shower in room poor no pressure, tv took some sorting, room could have been cleaner.

Packed lunches! Who does that? Amazing!
The deco could do with a (professional) spruce up.
