Well prepared fresh food.
Comfortable clean room.
Pleasant unhurried atmosphere.
Shower didn’t drain well.
Room was too hot despite turning radiators off.
Good to be able to open the window but this created a lot of noise from passing traffic.

Massive dead spider in my room.

Hotel management was extremely helpful and very hands on. Food was excellent and well priced. Sited on the edge of Dales with wonderful walks from the hotel. Popular at weekends but there was sufficient staff to cope. Dogs and muddy boots friendly.
There was no wardrobe in our room, just a short hanging rail with only drawer. Obviously no lift so if you can’t carry your luggage upstairs check there is a ground floor room available.

Breakfast was very good quality and service excellent. Room was facing the road which is busy, the room was quite warm so the window needed to be open .
Dinner was very good but you need to book as really busy
I think they might need to provide a fan which would help to sleep more especially in the middle of a heatwave. A lighter duvet may also be beneficial to be cooler.

Breakfast, and dinner were jolly good and the staff were the best.
Access to room 10 was a bit of a piggle. Not a big deal since our bags were small.

We knew the room wasn't one with a view but we didn't realise it would have film on the window so we couldn't see out at all! There was very little light in the room, no WiFi, and no mobile phone network at all, which made it feel like a prison. The room also smelt like a wet dog. The staff didn't make any effort to greet you or offer assistance when you walked in. Overall, our experience was terrible. We had booked 3 nights but left after 1 night. We wouldn't have even stayed that one night but were knackered from our drive.

The place is beautifully located: you can start your walk across the peaks straight from the bedroom. Heather was smelling awesome in the summer sun. Amazing views only 30 mins into your walk. The bedroom was roomy (but perhaps not suitable for families with more than one child given the type of beds provided). Clean. Quiet. Peaceful. The food is fantastic and great value for money. We really liked that aspect (two adults, one 6 years old, one 15 years old). You can actually walk to the wild swimming gorge nearby. Pretty woodland. Walks that can extend along the river. Try the shower gel. Best smells ever - and I travel quite a bit.
We were told only a week before travelling that the restaurant was closed after 5 (so no dinner and no drink - we had late lunch instead). Breakfast was starting only after 9. All because if a function that booked the entire restaurant. The staff tried to be friendly but they looked stressed and one really want keen on us being around eating between 4 and 5 pm. It felt we were in their way. The morning wasn’t that much better in terms of staff being welcoming. I felt stressed myself about these restrictions.

Nice sized room. Good location.
The mattress was too firm. The room was cold in the first night.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room really clean and away from restaurant. Breakfast lovely.
The room was so noisy - you can't change the location, but for a light sleeper, the rooms are on the bend next to the main road so the road noise was terrible. We were in a ground floor room and anyone walking in the room above is also very loud and rattles the light fitting! Curtains are no goof at blocking light, could do with an upgrade.

There was nothing not to LOVE about our time at the fox house. From the moment we checked in to the end, the staff were above and beyond friendly. some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. The sweetest place, quaint and iconically British, lovely breakfast, comfortable, well equipped rooms. I can’t recommend the Fox House highly enough!

We had an amazing stay - the room was beautiful, the staff were really friendly and the location was ideal. The bonus was how amazing they were with my mum who is coeliac so needs to eat gluten free. Other places don’t always understand, whereas the people at Fox House were amazing and so accommodating.
We’ll definitely be coming again and just a huge thank you!
It was perfect, there was nothing we didn’t like.
