Lovely grounds. Single room was spacious and very clean. Large ensuite with bath. Bed quite comfy.
Woken at 0530 by noise below window. I did mention it on checkout and told possibly bins being emptied. There's nothing else to fault.

Warm welcome. The food (evening meal and breakfast) was cooked perfectly
Dinning room lacked something.
The lack of ambience was such a shame as the food was perfect

Location and outer shell of Wortley Hall was excellent and promised so much, however...
Once entering the hotel it shows as very tired. Cheap woodchip paper on walls which in places was peeling away. The paintwork was also peeling in various places. There was a strong unpleasant musty smell. We stayed for 2 nights and on both nights there was a wedding party. Whilst I am sure everyone was having a good time, which is great, we as guests were unable to sleep because of the continuous loud music and people shouting. Once the music stopped at midnight and 1am respectively, then we could hear furniture being dragged along the floor below us. All in all we were unable to enjoy a decent night sleep on either night. The breakfast on both days was luke warm, had it been hot, it would have been good. In my view our stay was a complete waste of money and we won't be returning.

Great location and setting. Lovely gardens. Large rooms and very comfortable. Plenty on parking space

Surprising amount of history and character to the hotel, and very friendly staff. The original features of the building and memorabilia from its long connection to the unions set it apart from the standard. Hotel also has large grounds worth exploring. Room was comfortable and recently decorated.
No major problems - WiFi is a bit weak in the far reaches.

Room was lovely, decent size and well appointed with towels, toiletries, iron, TV hairdryer, good storage, shower was smashing, really hot and powerful. Pillows were a little hard.
Fab assortment of foods for breakfast, cereals, breads, fruit pastries, juices as well as the cooked buffet.
Staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful as it's easy to get lost.
Lovely quiet location set in spacious grounds which are worth exploring. Easy access to M1
Nothing. Stayed overnight and it was perfect for our needs.

Wortley Hall is a great place to stay. The grounds are beautiful and extensive so very relaxing to spend time in and the Hall has comfortable rooms with lovely views. The staff are all very helpful and pleasant. There is a good choice at breakfast and our evening meal was delicious.
No complaints at all.

Good location, breakfast was very good and staff very friendly and helpful.
Room was a bit cold, but it was a freezing cold night (-4 deg), we had the heating on full but it only just comedy.

Lovely building and grounds, staff very friendly and helpful. Allowed us to check in 2 hrs early to get changed for an engagement at no extra cost.
Lovely room but located at rear of hotel which was above the bar rear area which was noisy at times until midnight. However, there was a wedding on so most other rooms were booked up.

Beautiful interior decoration and the gardens
Only 1 little bar was open with not much choice of drinks

The building and views
Top of the ceiling in our room needed redecorating because of old damp reappearing

Great location with lovely grounds, staff are also very helpful and friendly.
Room and bathroom are both very tired and in need of maintenance and updating throughout. The quality of the breakfast is also very poor.

This is such an amazing building. The room was cosy and welcoming. I had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time the bed was that comfy.
The only thing that could have been better was the Wi-Fi. We had poor signals on our phones and the Wi-Fi was basically none existent in the attic room we had.
This was slightly inconvenient when trying to keep an eye on our children at home.

Very nice breakfast, especially the local sausages
Mini suite only had the one armchair so felt more like a deluxe room than a mini suite

Beautiful on the outside.
Accommodation very basic and building very tired.
Wedding receptions and corporate events take precedence over paying residents.

The location and setting is beautiful
The atmosphere is a cross between a working man’s club and a Masonic lodge. It was tired, run down and a strange mix of atmospheres. This is a pity, as a standard hotel that was renovated a bit without the Labour and union movement overt feel, it would be an amazing place.

Building itself is beautiful aswell as the grounds and the staff are very friendly. Bed was comfy and everything appeared very clean. Shower was much better than it first appeared also.
The room served the purpose of our one night stay.
Our room was very dated. We understand that it's an extremely old building however some rooms appear to have been re done and others are stuck in the 80s/90s. Think the decor was older than myself and there were large cracks in the walls. It unfortunate but I wouldn't stay here again if I was staying in the standard room. Any nicer rooms I think are the more expensive ones and paying more just for what would be a standard room elsewhere seems silly. The price via booking.com was good value however the price listing from the hotel itself for the room we had was far to expensive. We only stayed for one night and that was definitely our limit with the room itself.

Beautiful location excellent food breakfast 10 out of 10

Gardens are lovely, after breakfast we sat in the garden took in the views and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, and enjoyed the company of the ducks. Very interesting history of hall and rooms used for functions. (Please note there weren’t any weddings taking place when we stayed so can’t comment when hotel is busy)
Nothing major, in the room we had because I have mobility problems found the shower was a little small but it was perfectly adequate.

Creaky floor boards :-)

Good service, excellent food, reasonable bar prices, super comfy bed
Very slight plumbing issue on shower head

The breakfast was excellent value, the staff were brilliant and welcoming and the ability to stay at the venue of our friend's wedding was great.
The room was fairly small and the building is in need of quite a lot of maintenance due to the age of the property itself.

The staff were lovely, Brooke on reception ,and Katie at breakfast deserve a mention,
Our first room had some issues, but Brooke sorted it out quickly and with a genuine smile,we reported it the next morning, and Within 5 minutes we had another room, and on checkout day, she was happy to talk about the hotel, and its history, and its not for profit basis,
At breakfast, Im an awkward guest, veggy and coeliac, and can only have twinnings tea,(Tetleys are sealed with wheat) and she went and searched for some for me,the dining room was full our first morning,as there had been a wedding the day before, Katie served everyone quickly, without looking stressed, with a smile on her face
perfect customer service from these ladies,
The hotel, is lovely, needs a bit of touching up paintwise, it is faded glamour, but both rooms we were clean, and its a lovely stay ,with lovely staff,
The breakfast for meat eaters is very good,
They provide cereal for coeliacs,
We ate in the bar ,and the veggy/coeliac curry with flatbread was lovely, and my husband said the fish was delicious,
Our bed in Tom Mann 5, had a stained mattress, and it wasnt very comfortable, so not a lot of sleep, but we got moved quickly the next day,
The switch to turn on the towel heater is very well hidden behind the tv, maybe a bit of signage would help future guests,
As Im vegetarian, and coeliac I asked for poached eggs mushrooms and tomatoes,my plate looked very sorry for itself with my ONE poached egg, ONE tomato and a spoon of mushrooms,
In the breakfast room, there are lots of pastries laid out, but no gluten free ones, no gluten free bread or seperate toaster
and nowhere on the menu ,does it say you can ask for this,
The fresh fruit is next to the pastries, BOTH UNCOVERED,so a massive risk of cross contamination,so a veggy coeliac, will go hungry at breakfast here,

The breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice and well set out.
The setting and the hall itself were beautiful.
The room was small, we'd asked for a twin and were shown to a tiny double, although they did move us when we asked. The shower was tiny, good job we're not large folks. The beds were very uncomfortable as were the lumpy pillows. Doors were slamming all night...not particularly the hotels fault, but slow close brackets would help and better fitting doors would block sound. There was a 2inch gap under our room door!

Fabulous setting with a great history.

Plenty of choices and good quality breakfast.
Huge bed ,but definitely need new mattress.
Carpet could do with a shampoo as stained
