Very olde worlde, lots of character. Room was lovely and clean. The sloping floor was a talking point. Included free parking was a major bonus.
Although breakfast was lovely, the service was a little lacking. I requested fried bread instead of fried egg, our servers response: 'we don't do that' then an awkward silence, the glass of water we requested never arrived, we received the second helping of toast we requested, but no butter or spreads was brought with it or offered and we did not see her or anyone else for the remainder of our time in the dining room.

Historic inn with guest rooms easy walk from St Albans centre. Stayed 1 night as a stop on a journey and I thought it was great value for money. Oodles of character with wonky floors and four poster bed, and perfectly comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and freshly made, location was good with a couple of nice restaurants just across the road and the pub at the hotel was nice and comfortable. Didn't check out town centre but it would only be 5 mins walk away. Only thing is some window covering in the bathroom would have been good so as not to be accidentally flashing the car park when having a shower :)

Very good well cooked and plenty to eat. Staff good and receptive to needs
Had to wait a little too long, no other real issues with breakfast. We requested a room with the least steps, but initiallly we were given a small room at the top of the building. The hotel staff were responsive and offered us a much better room afterwards so the issue was resolved. Suggest staff check the requests made by clients on the booking form.

A lovely 15th century coaching inn near the cathedral. The bar serves cask ale and within a short stroll there are plenty of good other pubs and restaurants.
The bathroom needs better ventilation as the damp had damaged the floor and was causing some mould to appear in the shower cubicle.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet, the parking was easily accessible. Overall it was great for what i needed.

Large comfy quiet room. Excellent breakfast.
3.5
Great location, very quaint and characteristic and right opposite the cathedral where I enjoyed beautiful walks.
Lovely having the light coming into the room and the historical beams and decor throughout the hotel.
Not a lot of parking space so couldn't really park anywhere sensible. The spaces should be prioritised for hotel guests not rented out to anyone.
There were moths in the room, you could put cedar balls or take anti moth measures.
Behind the headboard hasn't been cleaned in a very long time, its very dusty! Not great for asthma!
Would be great to have alternative milk options for tea etc in the room.

Surprised how quiet it was

We had a wonderful time at this, perhaps the oldest building in St Albans. The staff were helpful and attentive, the room was comfortable, the hotel is decorated to emphasize its interesting history. The water was piping hot and breakfast was tasty. The parking was convenient.

Central location with friendly staff, lovely place!
3.5
Excellent location, opposite the cathedral and two minutes to the high street. Good restaurants nearby. Even if it seems like no staff are around, they suddenly appear from nowhere. Service prompt and courteous. Good selection of cooked breakfasts (lovely to see haddock or kippers on offer) and a very generous Full English. This is an ancient building (500 years plus) and has all the quirks and atmosphere that that entails, so be prepared for uneven floors and low ceilings, but that's all part of it. If staying, do check out the residents lounge on the first floor with the amazing Tudor gallery.
Some of the decor is a little tired - but everything was definitely clean. My mattress wasnt great but I told them at the time and they assured me it is being changed and offered me a different room. Even with these small issues (which can be, or are being, fixed) I would be happy to stay again.

nice building and friendly stuff
got the attic room which was cold and didn’t have window that could look out so room was dark
poor lighting to get dressed to go out in evening
heating didn’t work was freezing until we asked for heater

The White Hart is central for all amenities and has a lot of character. Our room was clean and cosy with everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious! Very good value for money.
A slight draft from the window but as a listed building we understand that double glazing is not permitted. And besides the room was plenty warm enough for us

Breakfast was good. Location was good
Lots of stairs and very uneven floors. Wasn’t ideal for my elderly parents

The customer service at the hotel was good.
I am originally from this area and was expecting a better experience from this hotel. The room we were assigned (no. 3) was extremely dated and showing old age with worn and dirty carpet, dirty curtains which did not fit the window! There was a black out blind which did help but cracked window panes which was unsightly! The ensuite facility was very poor with a shower & toilet ony, the sink was outside the ensuite and in the room with a mirror with very poor lighting. In addition as a Resident we were not offered out of hours access to the bar which closed promptly at 11pm!

I love the location right in the centre of the city. All great pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
The room was okay but the shower room was no bigger than what you would expect to find in a caravan.
3.5
Location is great, exactly in the Center of St Albans and not far from St Albans City train station.
Room overall condition was bad. Photos are really far from what you get.

Lovely old building. Beautiful panelling. Very convenient location. Good breakfast.
It’s a little tired. But that didn’t diminish our enjoyment.

olde worlde appearance
the staff were lovely and accommodating
it’s just very in need of some TLC

The hotel was full of character and it still had the atmosphere of an inn and not a bijou hotel. The staff were both helpful and friendly, the bedroom was comfortable and the food well cooked and tasty. The position of the hotel was ideal, central and opposite the cathedral.
There was nothing I disliked but the bedroom we slept in could have done with a lick of paint. The parking was limited and we ended up in London Road car park which is difficult to find.
3.5
The original Tudor features, the quirky layout of the bathroom, the wonky floors and the location. Housekeeping staff were especially friendly and helpful.
The tatty, torn, ancient net curtains and the shabby broken, miss-matched furniture. We also didn't have cold water despite two attempts by maintenance to fix the issue. This meant we had no drinking water throughout our stay. Breakfast service was very slow.
2.5
I'm struggling to find something.
The room was very basic, the bed had seen better days and sleep was poor as it was so uncomfortable, I was woken at 5am by somebody dragging bins across the yard.
