Their dog friendly service was superb - able to take the dog everywhere. We had a lodge - lovely!
All good! Can't think of anything!

A little noisy from other guests in the hallway

Great food. Dinner and breakfast.
Friendly and responsive staff.
Decor is a bit over wrought. Room a bit small for 2 adults plus 2 children.

An exceptional place to stay. The decor is eclectic and inviting, the bed was soooo comfortable, the staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was amazing. We have to give special mentions to Georgie and Oscar who were wonderful and could not have done more to make us feel welcome, they really looked after us. The welcome pack for our little dog was so special, she had such a fuss made of her. A destination in itself. We can't wait to go back.
I couldn't find fault with anything

The staff were fantastic, helping us with recommendations of where to go in the day.
Lovely quirky pub and unique rooms with funky decor and a lovely free standing bath.
Food in the restaurant was great too and very prompt service considering how busy they were.
Unfortunately the bed was far too soft for our liking which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.
The room in the suite was too hot and we were unable to turn down the radiator and no windows to open.
We were gluten free of which we were catered for but it would be helpful to make a note on the menu of what is gf as you do with vegetarian options to prevent the chef having to scribble on the menu each night. Also was a little disappointed with lack of gluten free continental breakfast including granola and cereals when there is a shop next door that sells it. Saying that the gluten free bread with the cooked breakfast was delicious so still something on offer for us.

Beautiful rustic ambience with its own quirky touches. If you are so inclined I would highly recommend you to book the 5 course surprise taster which is a lovely experience.
You can't get to Narnia.

Attention to detail, interior design, great food,
Very warm rooms at night (fan provided, not sure what improvements could be made in the hotels defense, Air con refit would be tricky), Comfortable beds but a little (alot) too soft for our liking.

The pub was still a pub, which speaks in it's favour and the rooms were really lovely. The garden at the back was quite exceptional and I would have loved to see it in use. We had really nice light and fresh food in the evenings and the breakfast was quite serviceable but I wasn't very hungry either!

The breakfast was very good. Location Great!
The Gardens around the lodges were a bit neglected. I saw them on Gardeners world and had high expectations. I know we have a drought but it was more than that, they need a little TLC, to maintain the fabulous planting and design. Our patio was a bit unkempt too.

Excellent food and service from friendly staff. Quirky interiors.
Very limited car parking spaces. Dodgy stairs up to bedroom. It was rather noisy overnight but we understand this was due to road closures on A21

Characterful, lovely welcoming staff , quirky room
Very low doorway in between bedroom and bathroom , easy to bang head … even with a reminder above it !
Food in restaurant good but pricy for what it was .

A quirky little pub hotel with great staff and very dog friendly. Although the room was billed as a "small double" it was quite large and comfortable. The breakfast was substantial and our dog even received a sausage! We ate in the restaurant on both nights and thought the menu, although quite limited, offered reasonable value for money.
The small double was situated directly above the kitchen which was quite noisy and we had to ask the manager to turn down the music on a couple of occasions. Only a minor issue and was quickly resolved. Another point to note is that the doors seemed to slam shut quite noisily and could benefit from soft closings.

Room was very quirky but comfortable
Breakfast.would have been great, but was letdown by poor service. Took ages to get it, then had to ask for more coffee, toast some of which never arrived
