Not great.

Nothing amazing stands out.

Owner is very unfriendly. I went for breakfast and was standing outside in the cold next to their coffee shop. I asked the owner and a staff member twice where breakfast was, and they were going to get "someone" to help me. On the third time, I asked if the breakfast was in the coffee shop, which it was. There was no menu, and the lady.was not very forthcoming about what choices there were for breakfast. When I booked, it said the room was 16 m2. It was more like 8. I would definitely not stay there again.

Definitely recommended - a small highlight of our trip.

The ambiance of this little hotel was wonderful - an unexpected jewel in its small town. The breakfast was excellent, and the service by the enthusiastic staff a real pleasure. It is well located on the hill as one enters Barrydale on the east from the well known Route 62.

Cannot think of anything to dislike.

People and staff was absolutely well mannered and friendly. You could ask them anything.

We really enjoyed breakfast. Lots of food, but it was presented well. Well done to Bianca, what a friendly lady. Well done to the chef.

Would have liked a bigger shower and not a bath.

Barrydale- nicht viel mitten im Nichts

Das Hotel ist sehr gut, überrascht in dieser Lage! Das Wort "Pool" ist vielleicht etwas zu viel, war uns aber nicht wichtig und der Innenhof sehr hübsch.

...alles sehr gut. In Barrydale sollte man eher nur einen kurzen Stop einlegen, nicht übernachten. Das Karoo Lodge Boutique Hotel war für uns eine glückliche Wahl und ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt.

Location, staff, food, off street parking, bed comfort, cleanliness. Breakfast included in the price.

Shower pressure and hot water temperature fluctuation. Our room (no.4) was on the small side, but the owner had offered us a free upgrade and showed us the two available options where the rooms were much bigger

What a fantastic little boutique hotel. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. Dinner and breakfast were great. Very comfortable, well appointed room. Quiet at night. Would recommend it to anyone.

Was disappointed because of being welcomed by someone with no interpersonal skills.

The establishment was good, although we did not have time to experience it in its entirety, because we arrived late, and opted to leave early the next morning.

We booked the place while on the road and arrived about 2 hours later, after a long 5hr drive, but was met by a grumpy, obnoxious person. He complained about it not being a 24hr establishment (we arrived just before 11pm as opted on the site). Yet, there was an OPEN sign over the door in red and blue lights. He also said he couldn't find the booking and suggested we pay the nights accommodation, which we didn't as we already paid online and had confirmation. We then opted to leave early the next morning, without having breakfast.

It was still pleasant but not first choice.

Good location and attractive property with comfortable room at good price which included breakfast.

Staff were matter of fact and did their job but not overly friendly. The load shedding was unsupported with no standby light and no fan operating during the power out and it was particularly warm.

Safe inland pit stop

Very nice place and clean. We felt safe, the area is quiet. Top English breakfast with also a yogurt & Muesli buffet.

Very friendly staff & a comfortable bed. Only accommodation nothing else.

No breakfast served that is all closed only accommodation now. We were surprised by that.

It was bitter cold luckily I took my warm water bottle.

Staff are friendly and keep the place going.

There was no soap or shampoo provided and we hadn't brought our own the frist night. The place, in general, has lost its character over the last couple of years. It used to be really, really nice.

The staff were very friendly and the location was great.

We got a room with two single beds instead of a room with a double bed that we booked. They offered to move us the next day but it was too much of a schlepp. The room was very hot. There was a small fan, but very noisy. Mosquitoes bit us during the night. We had two restless nights' sleep. No ice or drinking water on the premises. The tap water tasted terrible.

A great place to stay and very well located in the town. Will recommend to anyone visiting Barrydale

The lodge was clean with large rooms and very comfortable. The staff was really very friendly and accommodating. The location was great and within walking distance from the main attractions in the town.

The website still advertised that the price include breakfast and it didn't. However, there are many small restaurants within walking distance offering meals and drinks.

The room was big and spacious. The greeting was warm and friendly.

Staff were not on duty - only available by phone There have been water shortages in Barrydale for years so why have they not removed the bath and put in a decent shower - we hate showers over baths with tatty shower curtains.
