Peaceful spot and a warm welcome.

The apartment is located in the hills above Kandy in a beautiful and peaceful location. We were walmly welcomed by the owner who described everything we needed to know about the apartment and our stay. Guests also have the use of the lounge space in the house. The apartment has a private entrance and balcony and is very comfortable. The owner was incredibly helpful and provided good advice on our onward travel and the things we wanted to do in Kandy. We had both dinner and breakfast which were both delicious.

Some tuk tuk drivers didn't want to drive us back to the accommodation or wanted to charge us a high price because of the distance out of town.

great, quiet place to stay in Kandy

Excellent place to stay, away from the 'busyness' of the city, but still close to get into town. The hosts were amazing and the meals were fantastic!

Best stay in Sri Lanka! Great hosts

We couldn’t believe how nice the place was: spotless clean, amazing view and great location in the Hanthana mountains on a 15 minute ride by tuktuk to Kandy. We travel with our 2 year old and the room was large enough for the 3 of us. We also loved the balcony to relax on at night and take in all the sounds. Ananda and his wife are great hosts. He gave us local tips and prepared us a great freshly made local breakfast both days in his wonderful home. They are a well-traveled family with lots of great stories to tell. The best stay in Sri Lanka.

Hanthana Rooms is the best place to stay if you want a quiet spot in busy Kandy. In the middle of the forest with a beautiful view you can relax and calm down. Ananda and his family are always available and will help where they can. The dinner is typically Sri Lankan and just a dream. All in all you can only feel good and be highly recommended 100%.

I had a peaceful and enjoyable time thanks to the care and attention given by the owners and staff.

This is my first time reserving a room through this website, but I have stayed at HHR for months at a time during the pandemic. I first heard of them thanks to a friend, Shereen, who runs a salon nearby. HHR is run by a lovely couple, their staff and their sweet dog, Randy. They are very hospitable and accommodating but most of all, they are very warm people with big hearts. I have traveled to many parts of the world and have only met a handful of people like Ananda and Nimalka. I look forward to staying here again when I return to SL.

Don't miss this gem of a guest house, nestled in the quiet hills of Kandy. Great for families.

The Guest House is surrounded by a cool and lush forest, at the end of a quiet residential street filled with beautiful white villas. It is a paradise of flowers, trees, monkeys and all manners of birds. We came for 2 days, but ended up staying 10 days !!! That should say it all. We felt welcomed and cared for by our host, Ananda and his lovely wife. The 2nd floor AC family room was large with giant wall-to-wall windows and a private balcony overlooking the jungle canopy. My husband and I relaxed there, watching the parrots at sunset. The cool mountain breeze meant we weren't bothered by mosquitos, and all 4 of us slept like babies. Ananda provided all transport to Kandy, even Sigiriya. Best of all, he expertly helped us to organize doctor's appointments, covid-19 booster shots...anything we needed! We enjoyed hikes to tea plantations nearby, and we took all 3 meals per day at the guest house, which was easy for us as a family and delicious, with a changing menu everyday. This place was the peaceful rest we needed after travelling for a month, and it was a great jumping off point for Sigiriya and/or Ella. Highly recommend Hanthana Holiday Rooms! It is a hidden oasis -- only 5min drive from the center of town -- but removed from the hustle and bustle of Kandy city.

Amazing stay in Kandy with lovely hosts

We enjoyed our stay in Kandy a lot. The room was spacious and clean. The host was incredibly friendy and helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast twice here and it was very tasty and plenty. The accomodation is located in the hills at a 5 minute drive from the city center of Kandy and the trainstation. We would like to come back one day!

Super clean and modern homestay with lovely hosts

Beautiful homestay located at the edge of the forrest with big separate guestrooms and shared kitchen/ living area. Big balcony to enjoy the sun and the jungle sounds with a coffee in the morning. Super clean and no mosquitos at all! Ananda and his wife were lovely hosts taking care of us all the time. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner can be ordered. Laudry service for 700rs (1-5kg) and scooter rental 1000rs/day (cheapest option in Kandy). The modern homestay is located a bit out of the city center of Kandy. But a Tuktuk ride to the center is just about 10 min for 250-300rs (=1,50€). Highly recommended! Best and thanks for the hospitality Luisa & Lukas

The hosts are very friendly and took care of us in corona times. He helped by calling other hotels and informed us about all the gov. decision. Would defently recommed and come back at all times while being in Kandy!

Lovely Host

The hosts were really lovely and helpful. We were picked up from the station which was really helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was decent.
