Location.
Staff wonderful so so friendly!
Nothing - loved it so much but it was just so disappointing we didn’t get the room/ suite we had booked -a lot of miscommunication Via booking.com and Fonab and we’re still awaiting reply from the latter -was given a castle room by Fonab and although nice was not what we had booked - will be wary booking again - just proper disappointed I!

The view and location is absolutely fantastic. Lovely, friendly staff who were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you.
No turn down service. Was told it is only available on the 2nd night. Still wasn’t offered it even when asked for it.
Room was a bit tired in all areas. In particular carpet well worn and saggy. Bathroom floor tiles cracked.
Staff uniforms not 5 star standard. Hole in one of restaurant staff trousers.
Glasses outside sat on a table the whole afternoon without being cleared.
Went to order drink in bar. No staff to be seen so gave up after lengthy wait.
Dirty glass at breakfast.
Spa not fully operational.

I loved the main building, the anex we had the room in, our room, the gardens, the exceptional breakfast, heartwarming introdudtion of the place also the receptionist was really nice. I have been to numorous hotels, but this one was different: somhow nicer and also more friendly, like made me feel comfortable from the first moment.
I couldn't mention anything, I didn't like. It was amazing.

Have stayed in nicer 4-star bedrooms.

Loved the food, paid extra for evening meal
We asked for twin beds on arrival but this wasn’t done. We were then promised that our new room would be arranged for twin beds at 6pm. We arrived back at our room at 9pm and the bed hadn’t been changed as previously promised 😡

1. Absolutely stunning scenery of Loch Faskally and Ben Vrackie. 2. Hotel staff are mostly lovely and very helpful, especially the Concierge staff. Any problems at all, staff immediately sorted. 3. Beautiful old hotel building, like something out of a fairytale.
I ordered the ‘Fonab breakfast’ of bacon, egg etc. as a little ‘treat’ for myself. It came swimming in grease. The waitress didn’t ask if I had enjoyed breakfast, which was on my plate as she collected it, or I would have given my feedback.
I felt the modern-looking lodges, may be prone to be noisy. I had to be moved from the first lodge I was put in, due to hearing everything from my upstairs neighbours, although it was only people’s everyday noise. Every footstep was heard as if they were in my room, plus creaking floors and doors.

service, facilities, dining are all 5 star.
nothing, everything was outstanding

Breakfast was superb. Best full scottish I've ever had. Delicious.
Room very clean and comfy and serviced twice a day.
Spa and pool clean and couldn't be more convenient for the hotel, literally 2 mins walk away.
We had one dinner in the brasserie. Food was very nice but at nearly 180 pounds for 2 it didn't feel exceptional. Portions very small. Mussel chowder was 3 mussels with a small jug of curried sauce. Waiters were nice, friendly but service a little haphazard. Eg no spoon for the soup, took some time to bring one. No wine list brought. However the location and view is exceptional and the wine list enormous. If you have very deep pockets and aren't too hungry you may appreciate it more.

The friendly staff sets this hotel apart. nothing was any trouble for them. I have stayed in a lot of nice hotels around the world and I can honestly say that Fonab is in our top 3.
Holly and Davie at Reception are an example of how to treat customers. They are both fantastic people who do a sterling job.

It was all amazing, the room was so comfortable, the facilities were so relaxing and the food was delicious. Nothing was any problem. The staff were so friendly & very attentive. Thank you for making our mini moon such a memorable stay :)

Breakfast - was great, but the breakfast I have had in Pullman in Germany was the best.
There was nothing I did not like

It’s a castle (well, a folly really). Very clean and comfortable rooms. Decent in-house restaurant with good wine list. Destination Tesla chargers.
It’s more costly than, say, (real) castle hotels in Germany. Not much going on in the surrounding area (Pitlochry has a population of 2500).

The location is great castle, nestled in woodland, Dark sky allows for plenty of stargazing at night, just off the a9 and adjacent pitlochery dam. Most staff were super friendly and pleasant, particularly Davey the concierge in his tarten trews. The standard woodland lodge was a nice size spacious quite large even for thier smaller room. Facilities where excellent, rooms kitted with coffee(nespresso) and tea maker complete with complimentary water and teacake. Bed and pillows really comfy, and thier was a selection of available too. Large bath, changing area was a nice touch. Large tv, two chairs plenty of sockets, one radiator in the changing area but additional heater in the cupboard not that it was needed. Would recommend everything but the brasserie.
5* place with 5* price tags, but a few mistakes which let it down. When phoning to book the line rang out 3 times with 10 minute gaps in between got through on the 4th call. Lodge was tidy although the bath matt had a hair and some dirt on it. Spa didnt answer the phone when i phoned to enquire about swimming. Spa was nice but the pool and the room where on the cold side, Particuarly outside the sauna and steam room. Brasserie service was slow and not attentive, concierge led us to the restaurant had to wait 5 minutes to get someone to welcome us for a booking, the napkins provided one had a hair on it the other a stain, i was ignored waving at a waiter twice before being provided another napkin with a stain, Someones folding these and not flagging stains, for a 5* place these mistakes shouldnt happen. Brasserie was overpriced, when i checked the bill two items had changed price from the menu presented at the start of the evening. Manager correnced this after 10 minutes fiddling with the till. Although rounded the change to the nearest pound. They also failed to see us out of the restaurant and hand us the coats. While the food is good tasty and proportioned its not outstanding think of a reasonable price for a swanky place and add £7 your about the prices in the brasserie.

Food and drink were expensive and the gratuity being added on to every drink without being informed isn’t right .

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The spa was lovely. We had a very relaxing stay.

Almost everything. The room was great, the breakfast was excellent & the staff were very good. A special mention for Davie who met us at the door, took care of our luggage & looked after us.
The high drinks prices.

Dogs off the lead in outdoor spaces.
During breakfast lawns out side were being used as dog toilets.

our room …
tatty furnishings & scuffed walls
difficult to open main door
Extreme difficulty in contacting management about our room.
Extremely disappointed & disgusted with management staff not returning numerous calls and email about our complaints.
Cannot believe this is a 5 star property due to lack of management handling of customers.
This was our second stay at this property the first being excellent.
It is highly unlikely we would stay here again unfortunately.
We’ve stayed in nicer Premier inns which had excellent after sales customer services
