Outstanding service; classic hotel with lovely lobby and large rooms (ours had lovely view of ocean and Otaru canal area). Great location with parking next door and step out of lobby into walking mall, yet only a few blocks to 'sushi street' and Otaru canal area. Breakfast was expensive, but very good with a vast selection. Highly recommended.
The bar/lounge area on the upper floor of the hotel seems to no longer be operating as a bar (only being used for the breakfast buffet) which is a shame, as it has amazing views and is a lovely venue. Hopefully it will open again in the evenings. currently, the view can be enjoyed at breakfast, at least.

The location is very good as it's in the middle of the 2 main arcades of Otaru. Just a 5 minute walk from Otaru Station through the arcade, it was nice to see locals buying seafood from the traditional kind of shops that you rarely see nowadays. The hotel has good brightness and the look of the lobby makes you feel the excitement of traveling. I really liked the neat setup of the rooms and the spacey bathtub. Was happy that they had my room on the edge of the floor as I requested, and the lady at the front desk is exceptionally welcoming! Check-in is from 2pm, which is hard to do in Japan which I respect them for having the option!
I had a ? to a bit of a possible inefficiency. There were about 3 bellboys but they hadn't taken my luggage that I checked in that early morning. Of course, I don't mind carrying it up myself but was surprised that it wasn't done like a lot of other hotels do, and when there are 3 bellboys standing in the lobby. You would have to pay just an extra 300 yen to use the public bath in the hotel after check-in, which I thought was a bit silly... They could just charge it from the beginning so we all don't have to take the time for this. The room wear is only allowed to be used inside the room, which means you would need to get dressed "properly" to get to the public bath within the hotel, pay 300 yen, come back to your room, and finally use your room wear. I know it's like that in some luxury hotels but I didn't quite see the relevance here..it's just inconvenient. I ended up just using the tub in my room to avoid what I thought was an unnecessary effort. Maybe I'm the silly one saying this, and the room was really affordable so it's not a complaint, but just thought I'd share the awkwardness I felt with the system.

Location was good. Staff was helpful and nice.
Seems a bit pricey for the room size and amenities.
