Great social hostel

Very friendly staff with extensive cooking facilities. There was a great common area with books, a TV and a pool table which led to quite a social atmosphere. Location was great, neR to two supermarkets and with loads of trails either starting nearby or within a short bus ride away.

My room said "Lake View" but the hostel isn't witoon sight of the lake. Bit confusing.

Exceptional

We had good experience on this book, the receptionists was really nice and informed a few tips about places to visit and etc. If you want to grab a beer or soda they have a bar also and they are very receptive. Totally recommeded.

Passable

A member of the staff decided to think on my behalf, and decide that I am an introvert who likes calm places. Never asked for her tip but when such advice is based on a negative assumption it is insulting. Keep an open mind about your guests.

Great base

Really nice place to stay. It's very spacious with hammocks, bean bag chairs etc to chill. Free pool, table tennis, swimming pool, deck chairs. You could rent kayaks and surfboards. It had a TV in the lounge and they played live football matches like Champions League. Plug sockets by beds but no curtains, AC in the room and also decent sized lockers. Really nice bilingual staff. Possible to meet other solo travellers also. The hostel was always clean and has a good kitchen. WIFI was strong and worked everywhere. Highly recommend Geckos as a base for exploring Floripa!

Extremely over priced for a an outdated building. The staff are lovely and helpful! Sociable hostel and great location. But extremely outdated and facilities broken, not worth the price.

Exceptional

One of the most social and fun hostels I’ve ever stayed at. came back for a second time because it was such a great experience. The staff is super friendly and have a lot of tips for what to do in Floripa. Perfect for solo travelers because it’s easy to find likeminded people there. also the location in the middle of Lagoa is perfect.

The staff is absolutely amazing, the rooms are clean and spacious. It's the best hostel I've ever been to.

The only thing that's not perfect about this place is the kitchen stove, which is quite weak. A little bit more fire would go a long way cooking wise.

Overall great place!

The pool was nice, kitchen was spacious and staff were lovely.

Private room was more expensive but the dorm room looked nicer! also someone ate our food quite annoyingly…

Good time!

The location is very good in the center of Lagoa da Conceicao and located nice in the middle of Floripa. The rooms are simple, but nice and the beds comfortable. The kitchen is big. The hostel gets cleaned a lot! Meeting new people is very easy.

Everything was fine, thanks for the stay!

It was a great time!

There are many amenities. All the guests and staff are very friendly and willing to engage in social activities. It is very close to the "downtown lake area", so almost everything you need is within walking distance.

It says it has a lake view, so you'd think it is implied that is just in the lake. However, the lake view is over the horizon because of the houses on the other side of the street that meet the lake.

Great place to stay when in Floripa

Geckos Hostel is cozy, organized, clean, and it has a great environment. Great location, near to lots of restaurants, supermarkets, bars, party places and beaches. Fully recommend it.

Loved the energy of the place and the people in there!

The staff there is amazing! everyone is always up to help you and make you feel good in there. It´s really good for traveling alone since you can meet people on the (really good) BBQs they make, the swimming pool, and the ping-pong/pool table. Also, the location is really good. The neighborhood is nice and it has cool bars, restaurants and pubs really near. I met such amazing people there that made my trip in Florianopolis perfect. Totally recomended and when I visit again Florianopolis, I will totally stay there. Thank you so much guys!
