A special place to stay

Great location, loved going to sleep to the sound of waves. Very comfortable and clean, tastefully furnished with everything we could possibly need. Special to be able to head out the gate & down the steps to the beach.

Quiet and restful haven in a comfortable apartment, surrounded by trees and ocean views.

There is so much to like about this property. Traveling in May we had a number of options to consider in Russell, and as we were looking for somewhere quiet and tucked away yet close to Russell itself, Kokomo Retreat ticked all our boxes. The apartment itself is spacious, with a large living area, plenty of comfortable seating and a great outlook. The hosts were unobtrusive but readily available and the wider area is an absolute treat with quiet beaches, grassy areas and easy access to walking paths. Highly recommended!

Nothing. Immaculate white finish made it difficult to remember which drawers things were in on our short stay!

We wouldn’t have had it any other way. Was nice to have our own space again.

We are old tenants of 13 Rewa Place, it was nice to feel like we were back at home.

Reminded us of the recent good days in our home.

Private beach access and great views. Room has everything you need and a spa outside to relax!

We stayed in the Pacifica Room and loved how the lounge was separate from the bedroom. Clean, tidy and awesome with added utensils in the kitchen - everything you need! I loved the milk froth maker and pod coffee machine - such a treat! Big TV with Netflix and good sized fridge/freezer. Plenty of towels. Absolutely loved the spa and private beach access straight out the front door to steps. Bed was comfortable with extra pillows and blankets if needed. We could hear the kiwis and even went searching for them with our hosts.

It's hard to pick any faults - the only thing I may of found difficult was if we had a noisy neighbor in the other attached small self contained room next door (Pohutakawa Room). But we had no-one next door during our 3 night stay. We definitely want to come back!

Great relaxing couple of days!

Loved the location with a very clean apartment including all the modern coms! We were very happy to have the property to ourselves and not having to share the outdoor facilities. Many thanks to the very friendly new owners!

great getaway

great location with seaviews and access to the beach (tiny pebbles, yay! no sand will get stuck on you!). super easy to find and offers parking. kayaks available to use and also a spa pool. super clean room (booked the 1 bedroom apartment) with a kitchenette incl. everything you need. great bathroom with huge walk-in shower. walking track to a viewpoint nearby. sunrise views.

not great for cell service (esp spark) so if you need to make dinner reservations / need a shuttle or anything plan ahead or while you’re in town. but it’s a great way to shut off and put the phone away! :)

Perfect spot to enjoy the stunning beauty of the Bay of Islands

The greatest asset of Kokomo retreat is its location. Our room's door opened to a stunning view of the bay. The beach was at our doorstep. The room was exceptionally well maintained. We had eveything we needed. The cookie time cookies definitely are a nice touch! There are spa and kayaking facilities on-site.

Nothing that we didnt like. We will definitely return when we get a chance to

Good

The ocean views were amazing and we loved the access to the beach via the public path. We enjoyed the hot tub and its location. There was everything we needed in the flat and it was clean and tidy.

We didn't like the proximity to the other accommodation unit. The hosts live in the house above and we found that noise was a problem especially the early morning showers and walking around . The unit wasn't ready for us to move into on our arrival.

Fantastic place, we’ll be back!

Awesome location, close enough to everything but a nice and peaceful location. Walk out the door and the ocean is right there in front of you. Dave is a great host!

Lucky stay

We went for a quiet few days at Russell on Kokomo retreat was great . I loved sitting in the spa looking at the view

Okay but lacking in cleanliness and quality, given the price. Probably wouldn't stay again.

Location was nice with pleasant view of the water.

We were disappointed with the level of cleanliness in the bathroom. There was dark hair on the floor behind the door and when the lid of the toilet seat was down, there was grime behind the seat. We didn't hear from or see the hosts the whole time we were there so couldn't address the issue directly. Nothing was topped up (i.e. teabags, coffee pods, milk) which I would have expected from a 2 night stay. There was also only indoor chair for 2 people so the other person had to sit on the bed.

Amazing, have already been recommending this to our friends

Hosts were fantastic, as were the facilities. Perfectly suited what we were looking for.

Wifi was pretty much non existent, no fault of the owners as wifi was freely available, its just the location. On the positive side, it did mean we had to switch off.

Location too remote. No sea view. Only one bathroom.
