Staying is this hotel was beautiful experience - hotel is located at the very end of beach and gives an escape from bysy Kiwengwa beach. You can relax at hotel and have some fun at the beach - best of both.
Infinity pool and view from it was best feature - no other hotel in Zanzibar has view like Shooting Star.
Breakfast was good, staff was very welcoming and helpful.
If you want peaceful stay, beautiful views and still be close to activities and local restaurants - this is the best hotel.
One additional recommendation - when staying at this hotel - have dinner/lunch at Amour restaurant nearby - you will not regret it.

The villa was absolutely beautiful!
We arrived on the 2nd of January which is very high season and very expensive. Compared with what we paid, the breakfast was too simple.

The facility is beautifully placed in Kiwengwa, the beach is beautiful as well as the common areas of lounge, bar and restaurant. There is beautiful scenary when having a meal with breathtaking views. The food was lovely especially the buffet on christmas day. The rooms had lovely kangas and a basket for use which I found very useful for the beach and pool. The manager George Maina is also quite helpful and administered first aid when I got a small Injury. That was very much appreciated.
The staff who serve at the restaurants seem uncordinated and sometimes forget orders. The restaurant also needs better management and more variety and enhanced cleanliness of the area since there are many birds, bees and flies around. The single and double rooms are a bit small with no fridge to cool your drinks. The room has Wi-Fi, however no TV.

We spent 12 days at the Shooting Star Lodge. Compared to other much larger hotels in Zanzibar, you feel here, at the quiet end of the beach, away from tourism, which we personally liked very much.
The elevated position above the beach and the general layout of the hotel are fantastic. The garden is very well kept and also the two pools were very clean.
The whole team are very friendly and accommodating and do their best. Especially George, who carries out his position as manager very well and is very helpful with concerns or questions. What was also very impressive for such a small hotel is the kitchen, which created a new menu every day during our entire stay. The food was always excellent.
When you are staying there, you should also take advantage of the spa. You have the option of having massages right on the beach, which we really enjoyed.
We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect place to relax. The dinner is always different and delicious . The staff is super nice, they do whatever they can to make you happy
The beach is so and so. Superb view, but bathing is challenging

The hotel is very nice and a good mix compromise between a large "resort" style hotel and some of the small lodges. The price is relatively expensive compared to the quality of some services (WIFI, no TV in the room, light on the terrace not working)
The main shortcoming is the restaurant. The breakfast is very limited and for lunch and dinner the menu lacks inspiration but it is OK. There are much better places for eating - even when you simply walk down the beach outside.

Staff was very friendly, invorment was nice, hotel's beach was clean and very cosy, on the beach there were hotel's bar, is this bar work several guys, there are very kind, friendly and professional.
The bathroom was very old and there were a lot of lizards, there were too many flies on the breakfast table, the bed was old and noisy, the hotel's taxi did not come to the airport and we had to go by ourself, hotel's taxi prices were unreal, hotel manager was telling us unreal prices, when we wanted to book hotel's taxi,

No specific thing
Too many lizards, not too much clean against the price

The staff was very friendly and celebrated my birthday with me
Lunch is really good
Dining area, pool area - all stunning
The breakfast was just okay, I enjoyed the fruits a lot more than the food itself

Pool was good. Location beautiful and our area of beach was cleaned every morning. Food was tasty and drinks acceptable.
Staff very unqualified and have a don't care attitude. On few occasions we had to request more than 3 times to get coffee or correct breakfast. The food is very limited and even with the few items available you would still have to ask them to replenish it on a daily basis. No water to shower on a few occasion. At best a 3 star hotel that is completely overpriced with their food, drinks and accommodation.

The beach:
- fantastic because they clean it every morning.

I guess nothing !!! but just information to others:
No fridge in a simple room ( but Now I understand why: electricity, environment protection, sooo I am love it)
No wifi in the room just in the lounge but we don’t need it in just sometimes, so it was more than ok.
