Nice little location & easy to access. Nice area to park in and plenty of places to explore near by. Plenty of space inside. All the correct appliances to cook and clean. I really liked the fire place.
There were cobwebs in some areas and the place wasn’t 100% clean but it was clean enough to be satisfied with, I am aware there was something wrong with the listing but was only told when I arrived. The property said it had a BBQ and we brought food for the BBQ and when we arrived we were told there wasn’t one and that it wasn’t listed on the property but it was so that was slightly annoying but it’s okay.

We were met by the owners who were friendly and welcoming. Cottage was in a beautiful setting with far reaching views. It was spotlessly clean, coal and logs supplied for fire. Comfy 4 poster bed. Single bedroom also. Basket and blankets supplied for a dog. Information for walks, pubs etc., Had a wonderful Sun lunch at Rose and Crown in Slaithwaite. Highly recommend this beautiful cottage and will return soon. Hope for some sunshine next time! Thankyou for making our Golden Wedding a happy memory.
We found the road from the cottage to Slaithwaite village couldnt be accessed on foot, especially with a dog or children. It is a VERY busy narrow road with no pavements and limited street lights. But no problem driving there. Lovely shops and places to eat and a canalside walk to the next quaint village.

Lovely location. Brilliant area for walking and hiking with or without dogs. Owners and managers very pleasant and friendly. Very receptive of our small dog and provided a simple bed and bowls for his use. Comfortable property for our two night stay. Bedrooms were very bright and airy and all very clean and comfy. The open fire in the lounge was well stocked with coal and wood and made for a very cosy warm evening.
Sadly lacked a welcome basket. Would've been nice to find a small basket of fresh local produce such as cake, biscuits etc even a bottle of wine would be a nice touch.

Charming old cottage in very quiet location but still close to village. Hosts were delightful and helpful. If you like horses, Silver and Troy will be happy to take any spare apples off your hands!
Car park was a little difficult to turn car in but really not a big deal.

fantastic location. very private lots of great walks on the doorstep. Lots of logs provided for the fire, host was very friendly.
Very dated throughout could do with a new set of cutlery, glasses, plates etc as well as the sofa being very old and worn and dirty in places. Again towels provided were very old, glad I took my own as well. The cottage also smelt of dogs. The website said there would be tea, bread, egg’s provided but there wasn’t anything.

Fantastic location, great character, really welcoming hosts, dog-friendly. Everything we needed for a few nights away.
We found it to be a little bit cold, especially in the mornings. I can imagine it's lovely and cool in summer, and really cosy in winter when you'll have the open fire burning most of the time - but in the "crossover" (we went in April) it was tricky to get the balance right. Not a major problem though, just wear a jumper!

Location was very quiet. Cosy cottage. Clean for a old place.
Central heating had to be used by a log fire which you had to fire up for heating property. Couch could do with changing.

The cottage was in a very quiet location near to Slaithwaite. There were generous amounts of coal and wood left for the fire. The washing machine and fridge worked well. Wi-Fi was excellent. Slaithwaite has an abundance of excellent cafes. Try the Handmade Bakery or the Northern Sole cafe for your breakfast each day.
The cottage needs a lot of internal renovation improvements. The kitchen is 30 years out of date and shows it. Cutlery and mugs were very poor quality. We obtained two new mugs for our personal use. Plates and glasses okay. There’s a lot of random and worn out stuff in the kitchen. It needs a total replacement of everything. There is little room for food prep, which we passed on. The bathroom is cold and old. The bath tiles have traces of mold and the tile grouting elsewhere is grey with age. The toilet flush handle repeatedly came off needing the cistern lid to be removed to fix it. The shower sounds like an outboard motor for a boat when switched on. The carpets downstairs are worn in places. The old leather sofa was cold to the touch. We had to clean the tv remote control of food residue before we used it. The TV is old and pre High definition. Bedrooms were tired and dated but you could get to sleep on the beds. It’s expensive for what you get. I do hope the owners have plans for renovation because the cottage could be superb if renovated to a good standard.

The day we left
On arrival up the long un-lit drive where we had to get out in the dark and open/close the gate led me to step in an ankle deep wet muddy pothole. The steps into property were extremely icy and very dangerous. The fire had been lit by the owners prior to our arrival but the property was still damp and freezing. The plates and dishes in the cupboard were damp, so was the banister. Due to the fact the fire had to remain lit for the heating to work it was very difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature. We had to go to Asda to buy more kindling and firelighters. On calling the property there was no answer. Prior to this communication had been good. No tea/coffee/sugar available which i believed to be standard when renting a property as this has been the case everywhere else we have stayed. I would not recommend staying here during the winter months as the heating is insufficient and it's just far too cold. Tried running a bath, the water ran cold way before full. The shower was extremely noisy. We spent the whole weekend from start to finish trying to remain warm which was near impossible. Was not worth the price we paid. Overall a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay.

Comfortable cottage with good facilities. Quiet location with access to local walks for all.
Didn’t meet the hosts but communication was friendly and easy. Information available in the cottage was first class.
A little cold during winter, for those used to open fires it won’t be a problem.

accomodation is lovely, great fireplace
we went on the tipping week between summer-ish weather and winter, so the heating and the electric blanket weren't provided yet. we had some radiator we could add in our bedrooms, but it takes time to warm-up.

Beds were comfortable and bathroom was a good size although there wasn't extractor fan. The views were lovely and it was very peaceful.
Very awkward access down a single track muddy lane and through a farm gate then up an unmade road. House smelled damp and heating was difficult to manage, with radiators heated by an open coal fire.

It was fine for a quick overnight stay but was a bit tricky to find! The fire was kindly put on when we arrived which made it very cozy.
