Great location & really lovely staff, would highly recommend staying here.
There was loud construction noise immediately next to our room during business days/hours.

Lovely beach, good snorkelling. Food was great and staff just so friendly and helpful.
Very exposed to the wind when it is blowing.

The waterfront location was lovely. Good bathroom. This resort had good Australian Chardonnay which was in date ..very pleasing.
We had a garden view room which was depressingly dark. Its very difficult to dry any wet clothes.
The dinner at the restaurant was terrible for both of us..I couldn't even eat mine. Barrier Resort didn't charge us for poor meals which was decent however their restaurant has a poor reputation so we are surprised they haven't sourced better cooks or trained those they have.

Staff were lovely, and always so helpful. Rooms were cleaned so often and it was nestled in the most peaceful place. The restaurant had great daily specials and the cocktails were delicious.
Our beachfront fare was really lovely but small. We also shared the beach front with 3 other fare’s, which at times lacked privacy.

Perfect beachfront location with little reefs to snorkel and dugongs right outside the room. Amazing staff and little restaurant.
Would definitely recommend the beachfront fares.

Amazing location right on a picturesque beach, we had a water front room. Beautifully designed resort using exposed timber, contemporary style with traditional touches. the staff were the best I've come across, they actually remembered our names and were very friendly. Meals were very good. It was good to have a massage on site. It was quiet, other guests were not loud and noisy and clientele mostly kept to themselves. It was good to have flippers to use.
Internet was very unreliable , however I believe that was the provider, not the hotel's fault. Meals and bar were very good but a little pricey.

The property is beautiful and quiet, with spacious huts and plenty of privacy. Nice views from the restaurant terrace. Fantastic and easily accessible corals in front of the property. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They arranged several amazing day trips for us. The restaurant has an amazing cook who cooks excellent meat dishes as well as Italian and Asian cuisine. The best we had in Vanuatu in 2 weeks - by far! We had to stay an extra night because of flight cancellation and the manager was very welcoming - even making sure our room was ready again when we returned. We were very happy to stay that extra night! Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful resort and the location is stunning.
It would be helpful if there was a folder in the room giving you an idea of what’s around you to do activity wise. What you should expect to pay for bus hire etc
Just a general introduction to the area.

We loved the location and the private beach with kayaks. We went for an evening kayak each day and it was so serene. The views are stunning and if you get up early enough you can watch a magical sunrise. Rob and the team were excellent - incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with a good choice for vegetarians. The design of the resort and layout was beautiful with all of the interlinking walkways.
Big thank you to the team for making it so special for us on our honeymoon. We will definitely be back!
There isn’t anything that we didn’t like but for some constructive feedback / comments:
1. We thought the 4.5% credit card surcharge was a bit excessive when everywhere else in Vanuatu is 3%.
2. The breakfast that’s included was lovely however there was some items included and some to be paid for as extra. For the price of the room night you would expect to have all breakfast items included. However just to add that the omelette we had was delicious!

We stayed here for ten days over the xmas break. Barrier Beach Resort is set on a sheltered bay, in a beautiful location. We had the most relaxing stay, everything about this resort is perfect. The owners are friendly and accomodating, the staff really are exceptional and go the extra mile. After trying a few lunches elsewhere we thought the food at Barrier was the best on the island. There’s a wide selection of choices from the menu and the wine list is great too. There’s kayaks and snorkel gear to use free of charge. Santo itself is well worth the extra effort to visit, it’s a stunning island and the locals and their culture are amazing. You’ll be rewarded with something special as a holiday destination.

Pillows were like cement bags.
Spa massage table stunk of mould.
Room louvers and inside roof had mould and splattered bugs.
Hire cars organised were death traps.
Being given fare 7 that is not absolute beach front like I paid for.
Then being offered another room with no aircon that was filthy. Fare 1.
Other guests whilst I was there had the same thing done to them but were given a discount.
Poor effort Rob.

We loved the restaurant, views, private villa and ambiance of the whole place. It's very secluded and Rob one of the owners is very hospitable and really makes an effort to come to you daily to chat and help you organize days activities

The resort was absolutely stunning. The beach was the most on beautiful part of the island with the water being so amazing. Loved having access to snorkels, boards etc. Staff were beautiful including Catherine who helped us with cancelled flights and booking tours. Owner was very helpful as well and have good recommendations for the island. We had the most amazing time here and would love to come back.
Food could do with some improvement but I think it was a working progress!

Absolutely Stunning. Could not wipe the smile off my face at Barrier Beach Resort. If you have the choice to stay here you would not be sorry. Could not fault a single thing. Not only will the property and atmosphere take your breath away but the staff are amazing. They went above and beyond. Customer Service was award class. If I could have taken them home I would have. I can not wait to come back.

- huge and clean rooms
- air conditioning!!
- bungalows in the nature or on the beach
- very friendly and efficient staff
- ok breakfast
- I paid extra for the plunge pool that was EMPTY
- The beach bar was closed , and filled up with a mess. So it less a view and impression of messy/closed hotel
- a bit too expensive for what it is
- medium quality food
- bad local coffee
- no nice view at the restaurant because the wind shields are always opened (even when no wind)
And because the beach bar is closed you can't really enjoy nice relaxing places with a view. It's pity considering the location
- pity you have to pay extra money if you want a more comprehensive breakfast

We had a lovely stay at Barrier Beach, the snorkelling in front of the resort was great and the reception ladies were extremely helpful in organising us drivers and activities to do.
Some of the info in the property listing is out of date. we had to purchase masks and snorkels to use and they were of terrible quality - all other places we stayed had these included.

The location is amazing. Right on the beach. Staff were friendly and attentive. Shout out to Emmie and Rose. Rocky and Richard.
The food is absolutely amazing. I tried everything on the menu over 8 days and not a bad meal amongst them. My highlight were the little taste testers before dinner. A different complimentary treat every night. They even shouted my husband and I a bottle of champagne for our wedding anniversary. Catherine organizes all the tours and was very efficient at helping us achieve all we wanted to do in Santo. And there is a lot to see and do!
Nothing.

We stayed in Fave 1 which is a slightly more secluded bungalow as it is hidden by trees on the edge of the beach. This was a lovely room in which you can hear the gentle sea sounds. Everyone was so helpful and meals were good. We stayed in 4 different resorts on three islands in Vanuatu and Barrier Beach Resort was the best resort. Thank you Calvin & Julie and all the staff, you have created a fantastic, tranquil resort.
