An authentic SL homestay with a lovely family. Good location, excellent food!

I had a delightful stay at Villa Aroshina. The property is the family (2 adults, 2 kids) home in a quiet residential area. The family accommodation is on the ground floor and guest accommodation is up a short flight of stairs on the first floor. Despite having no formal training Aroshina appears to have "an eye" for the aesthetic, in the public areas every direction you turn presents a calming, beautiful, smile inducing expression of her talent. Aroshina and her husband, Manju, encourage you to treat their home as yours. Conversations are accompanied by the ever present Sri Lankan smiles and a warmth of expression. They are wholly and genuinely concerned with the satisfaction of their guests and go out of their way to help you with anything you need or desire; dietary needs, local food education, travel arrangements, tours, bicycles, mopeds, cultural experiences, medical supplies, ask and you will receive. A huge bonus is that Manju has his own Tuk Tuk, so short local journeys are quickly sorted out and longer journeys to visit attractions in nearby towns are easy to arrange. They will insist on not taking money for this service, I suggest you insist, as I did, that they at least take the equivalent cost of an Uber or PickMe (SL type Uber service) ride. It's a 10 minute ride or a 25 min walk to the Galle Fort heritage site. Aroshina is a fantastic cook, breakfasts are good; fresh fruit, savouries, sweets. If you get the chance do take advantage of the offer of an SL meal and/or her cookery class. Oustanding value for money. You will definitely get an authentic and comfortable SL experience at the property, the family are a joy to be with.

During my stay (March 2024) an outdoor dining area and off-street parking area were being constructed, due for completion end May 2024. Unfortunately, the builder had been unreliable with his attendance (not uncommon around the world) and Aroshina had suffered a family bereavement in the previous weeks, so this disruption was completely understandable.

The best is Aroshina and her family! They help us with everything and felt us feel at home. The cooking class was really good and the food super tasty! Room and bathroom are very clean.

A wonderful homestay with a very welcoming family

We loved our stay with Aroshina and her family in their beautiful home. The room was so clean and comfortable and the breakfast was huge and delicious. They welcomed us like friends and drove us to Galle Fort for free. We only stayed for one night but wished we could stay longer. We'd really recommend this to anyone visiting Galle!

Galle 5-star stay

Lady of the house Aroshina, her husband anf their 2 kids make you feel like home. The design makes you feel like in an exotic country (which Sri Lanka is:)) and the distance to the Fort and downtown of Galle is 15 min walk. The neighborhood is very calm and clean. The room itself is a heaven: original design, the bed is the biggest and the most comfortable we have had in 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Especially, we appreciated the air-conditioning in the room, which allowed us to spend 2 awesome silent and cool nights. The hosts were there for us whenever needed, and what we especially appreciated were the tuktuk pick up and drop off as we were travelling by public transport in this part of Sri Lanka. Briefly: IF POSSIBLE, WE WOULD SCORE 11 and not “only” 10.

Nice house with fantastic Aroshina

The family was really great. They inviter you to be a part of the family. Aroshina, a shining star of social intelligence and ambition in life. Nice house and a room with fan, ac och hot water shower. Nice breakfast. Galle is really a nice place.

Maybe a bit far from beach and fort. But the familjen brought you anywhere with the tuk tuk so it’s no Big isskrapa.

Warm, friendly welcome, Aroshina even insisted on carrying our very heavy suitcase for us and offered us tea. The whole family are very warm and caring, will do anything to make you feel comfortable. Great location.

Great accommodation!

We had a great time at Aroshina and her family. We arrived much earlier than originally planned but Aroshina kindly accommodated us and quickly got the rooms ready. The rooms were well equipped and had private bathrooms. Aroshina made us breakfast every day according to our wishes and was always there for us with any questions. We would book this accommodation again anytime. Thank you for the great hospitality!

Home far away from home

Thank you so much to Aroshina, her husband and son. Even tho I only stayed for one night, I felt like home straight away. They are so lovely and super helpful with everything. We had a lot of issues with our flights, so we came to the villa super early in the morning. Even tho Aroshina didn’t expect us that early, she was the loveliest host, brought us tea, made breakfast for us… they put so much effort in everything! Her husband drove us through Galle, so we could get our things done (sim card, atm..) and also showed us a part of Galle as a private sightseeing tour, which was great. Aroshina also cooked dinner for us (and for my other friends, who weren’t even staying in her place) and it was super delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry! I would highly recommend this place and visit them again!

Great host

The location is great. Not too noisy and near to the tourism area. Aroshina is a very warm hearted host. She make great breakfast and even can order lunch and dinner. They have a tuktuk which can help us to go out and return. We have a very pleasant time there!
