I stayed in capsule style dorm which was great for privacy. There are shelves, hangers, light, charging points inside the capsule. Really comfy beds with curtains for privacy. Totally worth the extra price. Nice breakfast, homemade to get your day started. Staff is super friendly. We cooked and shared some meals with everyone in the kitchen. Free yoga. They even got the fireplace and a Christmas tree going.. Definitely staying over the holidays. San Cris. has so much to do..

The staff there were very lovely.
Most of the guests were long term and worked in the hostel, so it felt a little clicky at times.
There were also pre parties in the hostel both Monday and Tuesday evening which was abit annoying as we were looking for somewhere more chilled to catch up on sleep.

This is a nice hostel, yoga and breakfast were really nice. Pretty friendly and clean with friendly volunteers
It's a little cliquey, everyone's nice though and the vibe is very chill absolutely not a party hostel but opportunity to socialise. I think overall vibe will depend on who you meet there, for me personally it was a little too niche but I can totally see why people love it. There is no guarantee that you'll vibe with the people because it is quite reserved as a whole

I have rarely felt so comfortable in a hostel. The staff really cares! Many hugs :) A warm and relaxed atmosphere. Bathrooms are cleaned more often during the day. The yoga classes that are free are really good. Breakfast is chiapudding with alternating pancakes and scrambled eggs. The drinking water is free and the kitchen is well equipped, also with boxes for everyone to store. Possibility for many different activities. The terrace is comfortable (good for chilling, meditation, chatting, smoking), so are the sofas and there is a good selection of books. :D Have recommended the hostel many times now. A perfect place to relax, heal and meet wonderful people. I have extended my stay twice :)
It is a bit noisy, but what are earplugs for? :D The rooms are also being renovated little by little.

Showers could be a little cleaner.

Easy & relaxed vibe. Nice staff! Good breakfast! Free Yoga class.
I liked everything. The day I was there unfortunately the Yoga teacher did not show up. That was very unexpected and has never happened before they said. We arranged a YouTube Class of our choice with a group of people! It was just as wonderful practicing on their lovely terrace.

Amazing hostel. Loved the pods, breakfast, beautiful communal spaces. Very friendly family-like atmosphere , free yoga

Hostal la Isla was clean and well organized. The staff was exceptional and the breakfast good. We were a group of 14 so lots of different demands. AK worked with us to make everything perfect.
My only complaint was the inadequate hot water pressure. Tinacos on the roof provide pressure except when the water is then captured in a hot water heater tank. The hot water dribbles.

Loved the social yet peaceful vibe of this hostel. Loved the common spaces to meet other travelers, nice kitchen, friendly volunteers, the pod dorms were perfect for me at 6"4, even a private bathroom in the dorm. Also it was super clean!
The downstairs outdoor area needs love, but I hear it's in the works!

Lovely breakfast (although they only start serving from 08.30), really lovely atmosphere, good yoga sessions, good location, very clean. I didn't want to leave 😊
The beds were a bit shaky. Could have done with an extra bathroom.

This place is so nice, animated by a beautiful spirit. The owner and all the helpers are taking very good care of the hosts. Breakfasts are delicious. The place is simple, nothing fancy, but at the same time well decorated, welcoming and cosy. We loved our private room perched above the rooftops of San Cris.
Everything is nice

Cheers to the owner and people working there for making our stay very pleasant. I stayed in the pods, which were amazing. The breakfast was small but pretty delicious. Overall, the hostel is very chill and makes you feel at home. The staff cleans the facilities regularly and can help with many inquiries.
Make sure to join the family dinner and try the falafel burger from the burger lady.
The beds and ladders in the other dorms are a bit outdated and wobbly.

Location was great. Friendly atmosphere.
Not enough bathrooms.

The location is close to Centro and the view from top bedroom and breeze is nice
There is no private kitchen as advertised, yoga is not on Mondays. There are only 3 toilets and 2 showers but overcrowded up to 30+ people there. The 3rd toilet was out of order and every time wanting to use toilet it was occupied. There is a smokers area directly below the room where we stayed so smoke was coming up into our room. For breakfast there was not enough room in the kitchen so we went elsewhere and paid for it. For the money spent we stayed at far superior accomodation so I feel it is overpriced. Lastly the pillows were stained at the cost the pillows need to be new and private kitchen and toilet provided. Too many people in a small space.

Amazing people, atmosphere, and owner. Free yoga classes every week and a good vibe all around.
