We loved the peace and quiet. We had a lovely room with quaint windows and a sea view. Lots of fun activities including swimming pool, tennis and small pitch & put course. Location was very, very good. We particularly enjoyed the sense of history to the building and it's location. And that attempts continue to be made to keep to this original charm and not turn it into a chain. Please continue with this endeavour to be original KH.
We had extremely poor dinner service from one waitress 23.07.23. She tried to short change us on a 500l carafe of wine and then recorded our meal as full price when we only had a main each. This situation caused unnecessary stress and embarressment to our family. The spa needs a refurbishment and the jaccuzi didn't work.

The location of the hotel is excellent, food was great and the staff are always friendly.
The hotel is starting to feel neglected, nothing major just little things, like light bulbs need
Changing, weeds on balconies, bathroom fittings require attention.

breakfast was exceptional
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
location was great for a peaceful outside experience, forest and beach.
Our room was very comfortable with space, and the two swimming pools were a bonus
just a bit dusty in the room.

Good breakfast
Paying full price did not offer good value for money. There are some cheaper offers available for which value for money is excellent!!

The room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly. I loved the outdoor pool. Great that there's a tennis court and golf. The breakfast was also lovely.
The room itself had hardly any plug sockets. Only the one for the kettle and tv. There was nowhere convenient to plug in hairdryer or for charging phones. Also the bedside lamp on one side on the bed (room 62) was too far away to be switched on and off from the bed. These are small things but actually quite inconvenient and I would expect better in these times. Also the bathroom could do with some shelves to keep toiletries and a decent makeup mirror (with light) would not go amiss.

Fabulous access to Studland Beach
It is great to be able to take our dog along, with access to all parts of the hotel, with the exception of restaurants, which is fair enough
Rooms looked as though recently modernised and clean
Walking out in the morning and seeing deer in the gardens
Breakfast was nice and staff friendly in there
We didn't use the pools, spa etc but good to have on offer
The outside and communal areas look in desperate need of some tlc but some of that adds to the character of the place
Some staff were a bit grumpy
On the whole we had a fabulous stay

Quirky old traditional hotel. Unlike anywhere we have stayed before. Pool was lovely, breakfast was good and staff very good.
Some of the deco was quite tired or a little worn out. Shower in the room was not great and pool showers were limited and cold.

Near to wedding venue and beautiful beach .
Very run down , in common areas although our actual room was ok . Awful decor throughout. Very tired except in our room which was just ok apart from Cristal windows which didn’t quite close/open .

Lots of common rooms and large garden, lots of facilities to use.
Would appreciate the pools being open later in the evening Maybe more games in the board games room. More tennis balls available please.

Location was great, as was the warm outdoor swimming pool.
Choice on dinner menus was very restricted. Only two mains to choose from on set menu and even these were not always available. A La carte menu options were very limited and only the meat dishes seemed to be of any quality. Hotel was generally looking very tired.

Location and facilities although outdated.
Bad service in the restaurant, very expensive for dinner for the quality of food.

Even before we arrived the staff were excellent. Pre check-in communication by email and phone made us feel welcome before we had arrived. The staff continued to be really helpful and customer focused during our stay. The room was well decorated, comfortable and clean. The restaurant exceeded our expectations and when there was a misunderstanding about the package we were on it was resolved very smoothly.
The hotel is a bit of an acquired taste. First impressions are of very dated public areas that seem to be trapped in the 1970s. The rambling building is lost somewhere in the 1950s. Modern, it is not.
However, relax into it, accept it for what it is and it will work its magic on you! Having stayed a couple of times, we wouldn't change a thing!

Main building was pleasant. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was very good. Lovely outside pool.
Stayed in garden suite which was spacious but cold as no heating during the day. Comes on at 6:30pm. Overhead light full of dead flies, big crack in bathroom sink which also didn’t drain properly, fan not working in bathroom so very steamy when using shower or bath, Noisy dog in room next door which barked for over an hour on a few occasions. Spa facilities closed at 5 so could only use them if we came back early which wasn’t practical due to cold room. Dinner was disappointing and service in dining room very poor at times. No housekeeping as we didn’t “opt in” but this was not explained to us. Kettle had to be boiled on the floor as lead not long enough to reach tea tray.

Great location, lovely swimming pool , very warm. Very family and dog friendly.
I contacted the hotel 3 times about my food allergies before arrival and still the restaurant didn’t know and had little for me. Very disappointed they had Nothing at all for breakfast.
Didn’t know The pool is in a separate building, would have been nice to have some disposable slippers and bath robe to get to it as there are no changing rooms. Or I could’ve bought done had I known before.

Charming old hotel with a lot of character. Amazing views, lovely grounds, a great open pool, and very cosy public spaces. Mid-century lounge with a sea view is still truthful to its era, and a club-style bar is a nice place to have a glass of wine after a hike.
Our double room (51) was one of the biggest, with two terraces and a sea view, but still very small by modern standards. The bathroom was especially cramped. There's also no air conditioning, and wifi is ancient and very poor. While I find a bit of a shabby but authentic look rather charming, there were a few things I couldn't accept: one of the window tiles was cracked (room 46); there were small mould spots in the bathroom (room 51); terrace door didn't fully close unless slammed and locked (room 51). It was also surprising and unacceptable that our room wasn't cleaned once during three nights stay.
I'd love the hotel to keep its soul, and I'm OK with a lot of imperfections natural for an old building, but little things like cracked windows and mould spots should be fixed. At the price the hotel charges, I also think it is fair to expect modern wifi and retrofitted aircons.

Love this hotel - this is the 5th or 6th time we've visited. Going with friends is great as there is the pitch and putt and the tennis courts, quiet library where you can play cards or board games and there's table tennis too, as well as the pool. The evening meal was excellent. Staff were lovely as ever.
I think it would be unfair to criticise anything for the money we paid. We were lucky with our room but they can be a bit hit or miss, and it was a touch cold.

Nice and old fashioned , good mix of rooms from 1930s to mid 1960s. In the main hotel. Very good breakfast. The room we had was very clean The bathroom was good having a bath and two showers. The hotel is in a great location beaches close by.
Dogs sitting on the sofas couches .
Being woken at 6a.m by dogs barking out in the courtyard
Carpark not great small for size of hotel and not well lite at night. Need warmer bedding for February temperatures.

I loved the ambience of the hotel. Very old fashioned but in a good way. It was cosy. The staff were excellent - helpful, sense of humour, good. Comfy bed, lovely room with a view AND a balcony, which I wasn't expecting.
The swimming pool or ladies changing rooms. Need updating and the pool felt unclean (don't think it was, it just looked very tired) The ladies changing room was too small, cold and not very nice.
