The breakfast was delicious with homemade bread, and the staff was friendly.
The noisy hotel with the small double bed was not a pleasant experience. The noise from outside and other guests made for restless nights. Moreover, the bed was not comfortable enough for two people. The shower was disappointing with a minimal water flow, and it took a long time to get warm. All in all, not recommended for a relaxing stay.

Everything!!. Breakfast always amazing and the coffee!!! It's the second time staying here and I will come back. Great bed and bathroom very comfortable. 10mn walk from main attractions but close to restaurants and stores. Nice terrace where you can dry your clothes and they have a hammock.

Great value for money
The bed was a too short for (tall) Europeans like us

Excellent value for money. Great breakfast and location. Lovely hosts!
Wifi can be improved, but we didn't care too much about that.

I looooved loved loved this place, I even recommend it to another travelers I met with my honest feeling that it was my favourite hostel in Mexico (3 months of backpacking).
I had my own room for a price of normal bunk bed in shared dorms, it was super great to have my space, peace and privacy.
And of course Esperanza is lovely woman and breakfast was que rico. 😊☀️🌮😍

An amazing place!!
Very beautiful casa. Makes you feel home away from home.
The staff are super nice and willing to help in anything you need.
I made my reservation at night, meant to book to the following day, but booked it for the weong date. Esperanza canceled it immediately, with no charge even though she didn't have to. And i really appreciate her for that.
The location is super quiet and just few minutes walk from the center.
The room is big and the bed is comfortable
The toilets and the shower are alwayas super clean.
Very good stream of hot water in the shower.
The common area is a very good option for the night.
And you already know about the breakfast..
That i had to leave after 4 days..

Breakfast is really delicious. It worths as '100 pesos desayuno' in the restaurant. Also, people are kind. Toilet is clean. Hot water is powerful. No more than that.
Nothing.

This is an awesome place to stay, located just a few minutes from the city centre. The staff was very kind and helpful and helped us to organise our travels to Palenque and the Cañon del Sumindero. Our stay also included an exceptional breakfast, which we had in the internal patio

I had such a good stay, everything was great! The rooms have a lot of space, the beds are comfortable and you have your own privacy with the curtain. All the facilities are there: shared kitchen, place to do laundry, line to dry your clothes, common area, rooftop, etc. Close to the center and the market, but in a quiet area, where there is almost no traffic. Nice street art around in te blocks. And the best: the breakfast. Everyday another Mexican dish and it’s delicious. A good start of the day. And all the people are really kind and friendly, giving you the good vibes that you would stay longer. Also a big plus: After checkout I could use all the facilities the whole day to take the night bus later in the evening.

The breakfast was a different Mexican dish each day (chilaquiles, chicken and mole, tamales, mojettes, etc) and it was delicious. They also make their own jams to go with toast. Delicious. Coffee is great and there are freshly made juices.
While I was there, there was no hot water as advertised.

I always stay here when I am in San Cristóbal, it was now my 3the time.
I really love it there, it's a quiet hostal, walking distance from the central place.
The staff is lovely and helpful and the owner, doña Esperanza is so nice.
Breakfast is included and is sooooooo good. They offer daily a Mexican plate or the classical eggs.

Lovely hostel on a quiet street about 8-10 minutes walk to the center. Nice courtyard where breakfast was served daily of either a traditional Mexican dish or an egg dish. Mostly quiet due to low season. Staff were friendly and accommodating. My single room with shared bathroom was perfect for me, although I wish the bathroom was a bit closer.
If you have a room around the courtyard you will most likely hear an echo of anyone talking there but this wasn’t an issue since it was low season and not many people there. This has no bearing on the rating but I wish there was a lighter option for breakfast like fresh fruit, yogurt and granola or a sweet option like pancakes. I had to take a couple of days off from the breakfast since I was there for almost two weeks and the Mexican and egg dishes were too heavy for me to have everyday. Wifi worked maybe 25% of the time in my room and 75% outside with it constantly cutting in and out so if you need to work online this wouldn’t be a good place for you.

A quiet piece of heaven. Super friendly and well organised. Great inner courtyard and rooftop. And yes... breakfast is super. Esperanza and staff are welcoming and caring, lovely. I loved that I could make a fire on colder nights.
Family run, mature, great location, had a fun and relaxing time here.

Unbelievebly perfect place to stay in. I have never stayed in such a nice hostel before. Friendly, helpful staff, delicious breakfast, everything perfect. Esperanza, the owner, treats you as if you were a family member.
Ubsolutely nothing.

Spacious room with a character, comfortable bed, everything is clean and taken care of. Well equipped kitchen. The highlight for us was Esperanza the owner and wonderful host and the beautiful generous homemade breakfast her husband is cooking daily. Would definitely recommend staying here, we would come back

Great little hostel with super friendly and helpful staff. The Breakfast was highly reviewed and absolutely exceeded expectations - some of the tastiest mexican food my partner and I had eaten. Central location which made venturing into town quick and easy. Even had a cosy room with a fireplace and TV (with streaming services) for hanging out and taking it easy some nights.
No improvements necessary - great hostel!

The staff here are exceptional. the room is cozy and tastefully decorated. Location is good - not in the center but not far away so it’s quiet. breakfast is amazing. I would easily stay here again!
Maybe the pillows could be a little better quality? mine were kind of lumpy, but that could have just been my room. Overall I felt like there was a lot of attention to the details.

One of the best places we stayed at while in Mexico. Extremely good value for money. Staff is really friendly and they really look after the guests. Amazing breakfast with a variety of homemade jam as well as cooked dishes. Very good location.

Very pleasant and warm owner. cool breakfast, you can choose from a sea of options. Wifi works, but has low speed. But other things are great!

If I could rate an 11, I would. We travelled over a month through Mexico and this was by far the best valued, most welcoming place we stayed in. Esperanza is such a warm and lovely person, she really made us feel welcome and at home. She helped us a lot with everything we needed. The breakfast is outstanding, with local dishes of your choise. The rooms are comfortable with hot showers (which you need with the cold nights) and the whole place is nicely decorated with eye for detail. The rooftop terrace, shared living room, kitchen and breakfast in the garden are nice little extra's. Absolutely the best value for money you can find!
Totally nothing..

Casa Tequio is an amazing place to stay! The owners and staff are warm and friendly (they even threw a Thanksgiving dinner party for any guests who wanted to attend). And as many other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast is delicious and filling. The showers have hot water and great water pressure and the room came with flannel sheets, a thick comforter and a space heater for the chilly evenings. It’s not located in the center of town, but you can easily walk to all the restaurants, shops, churches, markets, etc. I highly recommend a stay at Casa Tequio!
