Ample space for large groups but this is right beside an interstate. It was not at all relaxing sitting outside - we had to almost yell at ear other to have a conversation. The basement - as others have mentioned - wasn’t super clean. There was a retainer in a couch and dropped something on the floor and accidentally looked under the beds :( if you need a big space this is the best going but just don’t expect a 5 star experience.

We had a great time and the old house was beautiful! Scenic 45 minute drive to Warren Dunes State Park. The beach was beautiful! We got there each day by 10:00 and we had our pick of shoreline. It then got crowded but we were spaced apart and we had a great time!
The creek and big back yard made us feel that we were in a park. The fire pit and outdoor grill were much appreciated.
Host responded timely with our questions.
The 4 bedrooms were large so we had plenty of room. The lower level was rough.

This place was beautiful. It had plenty of stuff to do like board games, video games, sitting by the fire, or just simply wondering around the land. There was plenty of room and beds for a large group.

This is the second time staying at Cleveland House. It is historic, unique house. The two main floors are very comfortable and well stocked. The basement level needs some work to have guests stay down there.

We gathered in this space as a family and the ambience greatly enhanced our experience.

The home is amazing, easily lived up to the pictures and description. Having some items in the fridge for a breakfast snack the first morning was a certain plus. We had three generations in the home and there was easily enough room to spread out. Check in was a breeze. The yard was amazing and it’s where we were most of the week. Unfortunately, I’m not sure the seat cushions are intended for the furniture they are used on, so the outdoor sectional was a bit awkward to try and sit on, but there were plenty of single lawn-type chairs we could use instead and ‘chase the shade’ each afternoon. We had people coming and going and never felt cramped. Some considerations, it’s an older historic home, which we loved, but stairs are required for bedrooms. It is on the tollway so traffic noise is inevitable. We had two large SUVs and discovered it easier to back down the driveway, as two large vehicles in the driveway cannot turn around. And the kitchen was really not stocked with cookware capable of supporting the amount of people the house can hold. Plenty of plates, cups, spoons, etc., but cookware seemed limited for a home this size, and there were no scissors which we seemed to constantly need. Also, we did not ‘find’ the bathroom soap until our last day so we had gone and purchased some. The soap was in a cabinet in a common area versus in the bathrooms which might make more sense. But those are simply my observations and would definitely not prevent me from staying again. The charm and historical feel is amazing. We had some families over for an ND graduation celebration one afternoon and they all loved the property and especially the yard. Thanks for an amazing week in South Bend. Do not hesitate with this property. Go Irish!!!

We booked the Cleveland House for our daughter’s wedding weekend. It was the perfect joke for our family to rest up and prepare for the weekend festivities, host our new in-laws for a backyard pizza and beer warm-up and accommodate my daughter and her 12 bridesmaids for the day of hair and makeup prep. The character of the home and spaciousness were perfect. Any request for info was quickly responded to by the owner and/or his assistant. We made plenty of choices of homes to rent and feel we made the PERFECT choice.

The Cleveland House is a beautiful historic home with a fantastic back yard. The Pigeon tower is a fascinating and unique feature of this home (made a great background for pictures). The inside of the home is comfortable with plenty of modern appliances and technology. We especially appreciated the double oven. We had 12 people in the house and had more than enough room, the Wi-Fi kept up and the kitchen kept us fed. We enjoyed all the interesting nooks and crannies in this house.
While there we hosted a small (20 people) wedding for our son and everyone really enjoyed the property. The creek and firepit area were a hit with many of the guests. We originally planned to have the wedding in the back yard but the weather forced us indoors. The bride came in down the grand staircase for a stunning entrance. The dining room accommodated the seating for the wedding ceremony.
The first night there we had an issue with the furnace. David was wonderful to work with. He made sure our family was well taken care of and quickly replaced the furnace without interrupting our event. It now has a new furnace and should be very reliable for future guests. I cannot speak highly enough of how considerate, gracious, and professional David was during our stay (4 nights).
There is some road noise from Cleveland Rd and the neighbor’s dog barks but it was not an issue for us. Most of the time we did not notice.

Alright, I know this is coming from a Denver person, but I felt like I was I was in a movie set from the 1800's. This is the Doughton Abbey of South Bend. We were celebrating my parents 50th anniversary and every corner, every turn was another gorgeous little nook or cranny or a place to capture a moment with a camera. I'm sure this home has been rented for tons of photo shoots. My little kids loved the frog pond we don't really have frogs like this in denver! The creek is a delight and the mosquitos really weren't an issue. I will be forever greatful for this home and I did want to say, you feel as though it was your grandmothers estate. The generosity of the owners made me feel as though I wasn't left with one 2 garbage bags and a sponge and a little dish soap. We as guests were free to use their brooms and cleaning products. I was so thankful for this mannor and if ever needing a time to return, I will keep the Cleveland house at the forefront of my mind!

Our kids enjoyed catching frogs in the pond out back. Lots of sleeping areas to accommodate large families.

This is a beautiful old home on a neat property close to Notre Dame. The house is in great shape and there was more room than needed for our family of 6. The owner was very communicative and made check-in and check-out very easy. We will try to stay here again on our next trip to South Bend.

Gorgeous property loaded with character inside and out with plenty of room for everyone in our 7 adult group. Huge dining table was a hit. Tasteful period decor in soothing neutral tones kept the large spacious rooms feeling homey and cozy. Good sound proofing between interior rooms and from the hiway noise outside also. Very easy to use touchpad door lock. Convenient location for attending mxon race at Redbud.

The place was very accessible; it's just a couple of minutes to and from the airport. We attended a conference at the Notre Dame Law School and it was about a five-minute drive. The place was more than adequate for our needs; what we enjoyed most was the privacy - something staying a hotel really cannot provide, especially if traveling as a group. We had the whole house to ourselves and that allowed for a lot of opportunities to rest, relax and have good conversations, especially given the nature of the trip. Highly recommended.

The house was very nice and the property was great! The location was close to everything you could need. If staying for a Notre Dame visit, this would be ideal if it isn't necessary to be in close walking distance. It is still very close to the stadium.
Alas, we rented the home for a bachelor party weekend and it was great. A lot of open space for people to congregate and have conversations. The kitchen is big and allowed a few of us to cook for large groups with ease. Our favorite was definitely the back yard though. The seating area right off the back of the house was a great place to hang out, as was the fire pit area at the back of the property. The yard is very large and could accommodate a large group. I spent the weekend wishing my kids were there as it would be a great place to spend time with the family.
If you want a large place to stay, with the charm and character of a historic home, this is the place for you!

We were happy to be able to stay at this beautiful home - was the perfect place for family to stay for a family wedding weekend. Spacious allowing privacy for everyone. My grandson loved the frogs in the pond. I didn't realize it was so close to the highway so there was some noise around the clock but overall a wonderful home.

When entering the door cobwebs and such where all around. Walked into kitchen to find the doorknob needed to be fixed. Nice touch on leaving the eggs and juice etc for new guest. However the inside drawers were very filthy and glasses needed to be rewashed. First day the shower pipe broke and we had a leak into dining room. Maintenance man came quickly and was very courteous. Didn't give us any good news since we would be down a shower the whole time. Slept in the master bedroom and first thing was comforter was stained. Basement was a constant battle with spiders and bugs. First night and the cots broke/collapsed. Had the mattresses on the floor and with the bugs it wasn't ideal sleeping conditions. The back yard is great but the cushions to sitting are not so great! Driveway is a bit difficult to maneuver with even a couple cars around. We were there for my daughters wedding and having the hair and makeup people come in with their cars made for issues. Wish I would of known. The house is beautiful and old but rugs need a good shampooing along with massive cleaning. Wedding was great and the Basilicca was beautiful.

Lovely historic home with a lot of character and charm. Our favorite part was the entryway. Lots of space - gorgeous back yard.
