This home was perfect for a large family group. Our family got together for some summer time together. The location right at the beach was wonderful, it was a very easy walk to the water each day. The basement was stocked with beach towels and chairs and everything you could need. The rooms provide a lot of sleeping space for a large group. The large dining tables assured everyone had a seat. Overall we had a wonderful time, definitely going to ear mark this location for future trips!

This was a perfect spot for walking to Lake Michigan. Steps away from the beach made the location ideal. Lots of seating for meals was helpful. Main floor and upper level bedrooms and bathrooms were adequate and clean. Upstairs sitting area was calm and peaceful.
Basement space wise was nice, however, when going into the basement there was a musty smell. The bathroom in the basement had a drain with standing water in it. When turning on the sink, water would gurgle in the drain. This drain also had a horrible smell that permeated the whole bathroom. If needing to use the basement space, would not recommend but if space in basement is not needed, this is a perfect spot for lake access. Neighborhood was also very quiet.
Host was very responsive when finding out about the drain, etc and sent a handyman to check it out.

Comfortable, casual house just half a block from the beach. Place was just as described and host was easy to work with (although not always timely in responses). Definitely recommend.

We had an absolutely amazing stay with my big family. We ranged in age from 1-68 and everyone had a comfortable bed and no problem finding a bathroom near every bedroom. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots and pans and any other kitchen item you might need. There is an easy walk to the beach and a walkway that made pulling a wagon and pushing a stroller easy. The beach is gorgeous. I definitely recommend this beautiful home that easily accommodates 18 people.

Great little neighborhood, Not too much yard space but you're right next to a beautiful beach. Plenty of room for dining and relaxing. Casual house perfect for family.

This is our second straihjt years for staying at this location. It is so ideal for our family. We have eight adults and 10 grandchildren and the house is very comfortable with plenty of room to play games, eat, sleep, relax, etc. it meets all of our needs, and then sell!
The closeness of the beach is a big selling point. It is about a 100 yard walk to the beach, which makes it very convenient for the parents to bring home their children for lunch, restroom breaks, naps, etc. plenty of room on the beach for our family of 18.
The owner is very easy to work with and always returns emails, phone calls, etc. immediately.
A big thumbs up from the Webber Family and we would give it 10 stars but we’re limited to only five!!!

I stayed here with my siblings, their spouses and our 13 children. This house was perfect-it was SO close to the beach…literally a 2 minute walk to the sand and another 3 minutes to get to the waterfront.
The mudroom was perfect to dump all the towels, chairs, sand toys and keep the rest of the house clean.
The dining area has 3 tables so plenty of space to sit and eat. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms making it ideal for a large group so everyone had their own space. The neighborhood was cute, clean and safe.

This property is a 10 out of 10! The perfect property for a large family. Super clean and lots of room to spread out. Close to the lake. Would highly recommend!

Our family reunion brought together 14 adults (and one teen), who had a variety of needs and requests (1st floor bedrooms and baths; quiet, private corners; plenty of couches and large dining tables for hanging out and eating together, but also quiet, private corners). Everyone appreciated the quick walk to the uncrowded beach and the ample beach chairs and towels--and, on a day that turned dreary and rainy, lots of room to spread out comfortably for simultaneous board games and conversations. The host was graciously responsive to a couple of requests we had. Good A.C. overall and strong wifi, easy for everyone to connect to. We wished there had been a couple of beach umbrellas and, ideally (but we accepted as not possible on the lot) more outdoor space for our large group to gather outside. All in all, 117 Louisiana proved the best accommodation we've ever found for our family reunions, also for its convenient proximity to Chicago and airports.

This house was great! We had 18 in our group…8 adults and 10 grandchildren ranging from 1 to 16. Plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of beds. The beach is just a very convenient short walk to the beach and no steps!!! We absolutely loved our week and already have booked for next year. Cari, the property manager, was easy to work with and very attentive to our needs. If I could I would give it 10 stars!!! Highly recommend.

Such a fantastic home to spend the holiday with 3 generations of family. Andy and Amy are the most lovely people to share their dream beach home with others. House is even better in person than any picture could show.

We had a great time in Michigan City and look forward to staying here again. The hosts were very helpful. The house on the website is portrayed accurately. Lots of sleeping space. Also, really liked the dining space. Our family group of 12 fit nicely. Multiple tables provide a game area, kid area to play and another table to dine at. Our favorite part was the very close walk to the beach and a great walkway to the water.. Very easy with little children. Also, the host had lots of beach towels, beach chairs and toys. Very convenient. The basement was a great area for a family w/ 3 kids. Overall, no complaints at all, and lots of praise for a great house close to beach. We also visited the zoo, splash pad was closed.

This home provided a bed to everyone in our large group and the location to the beach was ideal! The wifi was a little spotty with so many people in the house but overall the stay was great.

We had a great time! Andrew responded quickly to our every question, a couple of them because we failed to read the manual, lol. A small repair was needed on a railing (safety) and it was fixed almost immediately.
Pro’s; plenty of bathrooms, super easy walk to the beach, beach toy room, plenty of seating for meals, lots and lots of dishes, sunny gathering area.
Cons; not a cooks kitchen, very small kitchen, need to time showers to not lose pressure, limited outdoor space.
We’d stay here again and made some beautiful family memories here.

Amazing location, great rental
This was a fabulous rental. The location is just a short walk (less than 1 block) to a really beautiful stretch of beach on Lake Michigan, and a 10 min walk from a cafe with outdoor seating and playground.
The house was well stocked with beach supplies (sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, etc), and there was a hose outside by the stairs down to a basement mudroom and bathroom which really helped prevent sand from getting tracked all over the house.
The downstairs has a large open common room with three large tables and two living room seating areas - perfect for smaller groups to hold separate conversations during a large gathering. The entire wall on three sides of the downstairs is windows, facing the lake, so that you can have the lake breeze flow through the common room while you socialize. :)
The bedrooms were very comfortable and there were lots of bathrooms. There is also a cute deck and small garden area.
Our only critique would be that the kitchen is quite small and lacked a few cooking supplies. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area (e.g., nearby cafe, pizza/italian, mexican, jamaican), so the house seems set-up best for folks that mostly want to play on the beach, socialize, snack, and then either go out for meals or get take-out.
We would definitely come back - it was a wonderful vacation.

A great beach house for a family
This was a large, sunny house with, plenty of chairs and tables for an extended family. The kitchen was well-stocked with plates, silver and cookware. There were ample bedrooms and bathrooms for our group of 11 people, 6 adults and 5 children. The 6 upstairs bedrooms were large and pleasant. I had learned from other reviews that the basement was damp and buggy (and it was), so we didn't plan to use the beds down there, but the basement was handy because, after swimming, we could hose off near the basement entrance, then enter that way to keep sand out of the upper floors. The beach was close, and the fact that we could borrow beach towels and chairs from the basement was great.
One complaint: the owners were very specific that each person was to use ONLY one washcloth and one bath towel, and we would be charged extra if we used too many. Really? Do they have any idea how hard it is to keep track of towels when you have 5 children all using one bath tub (the house only has one)? Since they charge a separate cleaning fee, it seems petty to make renters count bath towels on the last morning as they are running around trying to get packed! Would it be too much to ask that the cleaners wash an extra towel or two? The owners also asked us to strip the beds and deposit linens on the 1st floor (which also seems like something that should be included in the cleaning fee), but they said to leave the comforters on the beds. I assume that means comforters don't get washed from one week to the next. I would have been happier if they did.

Fourth of July fun!
Our whole family stayed here for the Fourth of July weekend and had a wonderful stay. The common spaces were perfect for game playing, but still enough room for everyone to sit comfortably. The proximity to the beach was great and we all appreciated not having to fight traffic and find parking. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful home and close to the beac!
We loved his home. There was enough space for everyone to have their own space at any point if the day. The home was very nice and right next to the beach. We loved everything about it!

Excellent location!!
We had a wonderful stay! Communication was also excellent as there was very minor issue with the circuit breaker being tripped and the recycling service not coming for pickup.
We had a great time in the common areas as my siblings and our families did not feel like we were on top of each other. Plenty of room for 7 kids and 8 adults to eat at the same time! Parking was perfect for our 5 vehicles.
WiFi was spotty throughout the house. We didn’t really use the basement as sleeping area. The main floor flooring could use a little scrub/mopping. A few updates are needed to the home, (ie, 2nd floor bathroom you can only get hot or cold water, not both). Overall, we would stay here again!

Great for family! Super close to the beach!
We had a total of 14 people stay comfortably at this property. Kids ages ranging from 9 yrs old to 18 months. Plenty of space for everyone and it was so helpful to have a crib and high chair available. The rooms were big and everyone was able to spread out. Also plenty of beach towels, beach toys and chairs available to use!
Close to restaurants, the zoo and outlet mall. Only a 2-3 minute walk to the beach. Very easy even with kids. Will stay again!

Birthdays and Anniversary Celebration
The location to the beach is absolutely the best! The beach was beautiful and easy to walk to with the nice walking mats on the pathway!! This was great for the older generation in our family!! The house was very clean! A little older than expected and several light bulbs need replaced even in the beautiful master bathroom! Some of the bathrooms had towels and others didn’t so had to find the linen closet right away! Kitchen towels were scarce and very stained! Kitchen trash hadn’t been emptied! Trash cans outside were almost full so was glad I brought some extra large trash bags! Basement was damp due to water issue before we arrived! Was told to leave big fans going so we did but then the dehumidifier was not running!!

Family Vacation
We had a great experience renting this home. The home was clean and plenty big. The beach was so close and the neighborhood was very friendly. The screened in porch was awesome to escape the rain. Cari and Andrew were extremely helpful and responded to my emails immediately. We would rent this home again.

Great location, close to beach, clean, easy check in. Family had a great time!
Overall everything was great. Plenty of room for the whole family. Everything we needed was available in the home. Walk to the beach was easy & close. Hard time with internet, kept having to reset router daily. Very limited cell service.

Wonderful location!
The property was located so close to the beach! We loved that! It's a little older than what it appears in the photos, but it fit our family well and everyone enjoyed it. The kitchen is small. The basement bathroom was buggy. Overall, though we enjoyed our stay!!

Our extended family of 14 stayed here for a week, aged 13-84, and had a wonderful time together. A couple people still had some work to do remotely, and wifi was unreliable (often had to reset the router multiple times a day, sometimes the modem but less often – but we did have a lot of devices connected), but for the most part we managed and/or went to Lakehouse Coffee for their strong wifi. T-mobile had strong coverage there, Verizon was terrible.Pros: Prime location right next to the beach, a short walk! Much less populated than the Washington Park Beach lot used by the public. New mats were laid down on the sandy walkway the week we were there (hard, blue plastic mats) that make it easier to walk on, so we were able to push both my parents in wheelchairs up the walkway to the edge of the beach to catch the beautiful sunsets! The main floor has a very open layout with plenty of seating, allowing for the whole family to eat together and hang out. The 2nd floor screened-in porch is a lovely place to unwind as well, and easily seats 8 people. The first floor deck and the cute little bistro tables out front along Louisiana provide more outdoor options. Cari and the owners were very responsive to questions/messages/texts and we didn’t have any issues while we were there.Cons: The main surprise for us was discovering that 2 steps up and 2 steps down are required in order to access the 1st floor master, which is not stated. Given that both the grandparents have difficulty getting around, we expressly looked for a place with a 1st floor master. We knew they'd have to get up the front steps (which are a bit steep), and I noted that we had to "certify" we could do stairs when booking, but thought once they're past the front steps, navigating the interior wouldn't be as much of an issue. The other 1st floor bedroom is much smaller and affords much less privacy by the foyer and doesn't have a private bathroom, so my parents opted to keep the 1st floor master and were quite comfortable there, managing the stairs every day with care. Kitchen is rather small with little counter space, it's tight with more than 2 people doing meal prep, but the dining tables can be used for that. Glad we brought a large pot for cooking. The house is older and the basement bathroom could use a towel bar.Overall, we had a wonderful time and are thankful for the space to make memories. Would recommend this place as long as you know what’s needed for the 1st floor master.

Awesome Family vacation home
We had a family of 17 and this house worked perfectly! So close to the beach! Only down fall not much of a yard area and also only one refrigerator. Besides that great stay! Amazing trip and location! Screened in porch amazing!

Large home, great location, some quirks
This is a huge house in a great location right by the beach. My friends and I enjoyed our time there, but there were a few small quirks that can be improved --- for instance, the grill was quite dirty, the patio needed to be swept, and the refrigerator wasn't very cold. However, these are small pieces of minor feedback. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and I'd definitely recommend this to groups of friends or families seeking a vacation near the water.

Incredible location. Huge house!
We loved this spot! Rooms everywhere. Could host 3 families. We had a group of 4 adults and 5 kids and it was perfect. Location to the beach was terrific too. We spent tons of time on the upstairs screened in patio.

Wonderful family trip!
The house met our needs very well...lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The crib was great to have! The kitchen is not very big, and we had 11 people but we made do. Very easy access to the beach...a 2 minute walk! We loved the screened porch at night!
