An affordable and comfortable Mentawai getaway.

The owner who was so attentive to his guests, the friendly staffs and the price. The surf was amazing and our boat captain knows exactly where and when to go surf. Terimakasih Pak Abnan and crew! Hope to see you soon.

There could be more food options and it would also be nice if they can serve coconuts at the homestay.

Hopefully better times ahead

When arriving, I was the only one staying there and a construction went on in full swing and noise, cutting the ceramics for the floor of two new rooms. The young guys working there are friendly, smoke a lot and taking care of everything a little bit (while the owner doesn't come that often). At nighttime they like to invite their friends and playing shooter games with the sound full on. Sometimes the Karaoke can be nice. You can possibly organize some trips, but as wake up times for the boys is very late, you should organize that well ahead and be aware to pay a little more than some other operations in the area.

The area in the surrounding and on the way to the beach closely is pretty dirty (plastics all over) and should be cleaned up regularly. No waste separation, so the garbage bins in the accomadationn were thrown around by the dogs every night and some taken to the street, to let me clean it all off the next mornings. (Wake up times for the boys is late, so if you want it nice and clean, then be prepared to clean up yourself.) Cigarette buds are treated as compost, so it is most likely you will find them on the little lawn covering the outdoor area. The owner is not willing to pay back any money, if you explain it doesn't meet your expectations at all.

A hostile close to the beach.

Affordable, close to the beach, more of a hostile than a home stay, l'm a older guy and everyone made me feel welcome, close to a couple of beach cafes.

Not the cleanest bathroom, no sink.

The manager of the place is such a great guy, helping with everything and making the stay just perfect. the food the staff cooks tastes very good! it is a very relaxing place, we enjoyed the company! You need to get the boat to get to surf. surf is not for beginners!

amazing property and amazing people couldn’t of asked for a better stay on tua pejat island. it feels like a family and Barnabas and the rest of the boys make you feel very welcome

We loved it!!

We loved this place & will definetly come back!! The stuff and the owner Aban are super friendly, always willing to help and made us feel like home so quickly. We extended our stay 3 or 4 times 😁 It‘s clean, you can get freshly cooked food there and coffee/water/tea is for free. You absolutely get everything you need. It‘s located quite close to the beautiful beach and the surfspot Telescope (you need a boat, but they have one). Of course you can also go to the other spots. You‘ll have a good time there 😊

Super chill place, away from the crowds, really nice vibes and an experience with the locals that you don’t get often in

The owner Barnabas is great and really knows how to welcome you had make sure you have a good time in Tua Pejat!

Best hostel in mentawai

Had the best time! The staff at the hostel are super nice, very helpful and social. Great vibe at the hostel. The owner is excellent as he comes and help with whatever you need. Good food, good dorm/rooms with aircon and perfect place to chill out and surf for a few days. The hostel is located at a beautiful beach without tourists, and near two good surf spots. An suggestion to make it even better would be to have more surfboards to rent from the hostel, or in my case longer ones.. otherwise I am very happy with my stay and hope to come back some day!
