The ol' gun range cabin was nothing short of magical. The cabin its self was clean and nicely maintained. It has tons of character and is pretty cool. The hot tub was nice as well as the firepit area. If you are looking to disconnect and enjoy nature this is your place.

Location was perfect. Cabin was clean. And the yard was absolutely perfect with the view
4.7
The view is beautiful and parts of the cabin are as well. But there was mildew on the bathroom ceiling and biting bugs in the downstairs bedroom. The hot tub was over done with chemicals which made us itch. The furniture was chained down which made us wonder about the neighborhood safety. The host was argumentative when we told him about the mildew and hot tub issue. He asked for pics we sent them and no response. The bed downstairs is very lumpy(huge lumps). The upstairs bedroom has no curtains or anything on window. The furniture was cheap and not in good shape. There are much better options out there.

I felt like the yard and around the house needed some attention. Inside the house was very clean and the beds were comfy. It's only 15 to 20 mins. To Cherokee. We loved being able to have our dogs with us.

Awesome place unbelievable road to the house

This was a short weekend stay, but we had wished we had booked the cabin for longer! It was well kept and the beds were wonderful with bed linens that were super soft! The cabin was secluded and up in the mountains. Everything was as described on the listing. We didn't need to contact the hosts about any problems. We will be visiting this property again.

Great remote property not far from town… it’s a cozy cabin with a big yard.. lower level bedroom/ bathroom and upper level bedroom/bathroom. Decorated cute for Christmas with lights and a tree …would definitely stay again.
4.7
Great and comfortable place to stay! The dogs especially appreciated the ol' gun range to walk around every day. Plenty of places for us to sit in the living room to converge. The beds were especially comfortable.
The only things that would have made it perfect were if there were some extras (more paper towel, some foil or plastic wrap.) and if there were decent frying pans. The nonstick pans that were there were kinda gross and unusable. If going to provide cheap pans instead of nice ones, at least replace them when yucky.
4.7
Loved that it was so far away in the woods away from it all. But no lights for hot tub at night think goodness I brought a flashlight Laneran . Need some more bowls only had one big bowl and it wouldn’t fit in micawave . Had to leave all the food in the pans . Lights was in strange places. Lock on door was was hard to lock .

Brian and Sarah have great communication. The cabin was clean and well maintained, very nice and Very secluded and peaceful. This was perfect to relax for my family. Not to far from alot of interesting things bust also far enough away to be out in the country and deep in the mountains.

Quiet, remote cabin surrounded by deep forest tranquility. Cabin is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. We slept better there then we have in years!
Only downfall’s is that it’s located on a steep gravel road that runs over a mile long straight up into the mountain, and the upstairs bathroom door needs to be replaced because it’s really hard to open.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this to hunters, nature lovers or anyone looking to take a break from city life!

Unique stay, relaxing!
Definitely a unique stay at the old gun range. We enjoyed our family trip very much. It was relaxing and cabin was off the beaten path. We brought our family dog with us so the downstairs area was perfect was her and the kids. We also enjoyed the grounds around the cabin. We had s’mores a couple of times:) A nice get-a-away for sure!

We truly loved our stay at this cabin. 25 min drive to multiple locations for fun. Spacious cabin with a great yard for our kids and dog. Only comments I would make is, the bathroom downstairs could use a bigger sink and a cabinet to store travel stuff, and some hooks on the wall to hang towels. We couldn’t get DirectTV to work, but we were glad not to have the Tv as a distraction when it was so pretty out. We have the same TV setup at home and input changes didn’t allow it to work. Could use some ice trays or hook up the ice maker.
But overall we really enjoyed our stay. We’ll probably try to stay in a location that has Mountain View’s next time, but we were gone a lot so it wasn’t the end of the world.

I brought my daughter and her best friend with me from Missouri and we met at this cabin with my best cousin and my Aunt from Charleston South Carolina. We loved the secluded spot and especially enjoyed porchtime every morning and evening. The beds are extremely comfortable and the cabin is perfect for a small group.
The light switches were randomly placed and a little hard to navigate, most of the labels have worn off, but we figured it out for the most part.
That road is no joke, but my Prius handled it, no problem. My cousin’s Volvo did not like it, I could smell her transmission every time we came home.
We think the Old Gun Range Cabin was a terrific place to stay in western NC.
If you want to take a horseback ride while you’re here, check out End Of The Trail in Cherokee, and don’t miss the Free Elvis Museum when you leave!

Wonderful place to get away from it all
The Ol Gun Range Cabin is a wonderful place to escape and relax. 20 minutes from the nearest main road, it is quiet and secluded. This cabin had everything a family needs for a get-away: outdoor grill (think campground style), fire ring, hot tub, and large porch. The owners were quick to respond to text. We will likely return to this cabin in the future.

THE CABIN WAS NICE BUT DIDN"T NECESSARILY LIVE UP TO THE PICTURES. THE DESCRIPTION NEEDS TO BE VERY DETAILED ABOUT HOW SECLUDED AND STEEP THE DRIVE TO IT IS. WOULD NEVER WANT TO STAY THERE AGAIN. SINCE WE WERE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA IT MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DECIDE ON WHICH CABIN TO PICK.

Owners are very responsive and helpful. Property is spacious and secluded. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the hot tub. Short distance from Cherokee entrance to Smoky Mountains National Park. Great Spring Break.

Restful & Relaxing Home Base
Rustic Rest was perfect for our family. It is centrally located between Bryson City & the Smokey Mountain National Park. During the day we would play hard experiencing the many outdoor adventures of the area. Then we would come ‘home’ as my daughter quoted to relax & rest. We fell in love with the cabin’s charm including the view from the outdoor deck, the beautiful woodwork, local artistry, the remote/private loaction & the of course the very comfortable bedding. We cannot wait to come back!

We loved our visit.
The property was exactly how described and allowed a nice family getaway.

Relaxing!
We had a very peaceful, relaxing weekend at this cabin. It was nice to sit out on the porch and take in the views and sound of the creek. Definitely would recommend!

Didn’t want to leave
Great cabin to relax and enjoy nature. Had everything we need it from pots pans coffee and the beds are amazing I slept better than I do at home. Driving up the first time was a little scary for us Florida peeps but after that first time we had no trouble in our mini van. We had great hospitality from the owners and he was quick to clear a path on the road after a surprising snow fall. I will love to see the cabin and surroundings during the summer I’m pretty sure it will be breathtaking. If you are looking for a nice clean and cozy place to stay this cabin has it all.

Quaint and quiet cabin
My family and I recently spent a long weekend at the Ol' Gun Range Cabin. The cabin is very clean, cozy and comfortable. The history of the cabin made it a fun place to stay. We had 5 adults and one child, we used up every bed with the exception of the futon. During our stay it was very cold outside, and this made it somewhat difficult to get all the bedrooms comfortable to everyone's liking for sleeping due to the combination of central heat and gas wall heaters; however, this would not deter us from staying at the cabin again, as overall, the heat worked fine. The common areas were nice and warm which is where we spent most of our time anyway. The cabin had a nice set of dishes, glasses, and cooking utensils/pots/pans but there were not any kitchen towels aside from paper towels. There were plenty of bath towels and the bed linens were nice. The road up to the cabin is a windy mountain gravel road, which was fine for us with two SUVs. The road would be fine for cars as well unless there was snow on the road. From the cabin into downtown Bryson City, the trip was about 20-30 minutes. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin and discussed returning in the summer, when the surroundings would be absolutely beautiful!

A great place to disconnect to reconnect
Cabin was great. Location was secluded private & quiet. Exactly what we needed. We wonder into town visited the shops around main st and everyone was very friendly. We took a ride on the polar express for the kids and they absolutely loved it. We also visited the Darnell farms went on a hay ride to the pumpking patch and got lost in the corn maze, they had live music, dance performers and warm apple cider. We really spent most of the time on and around the property; the boys & hub went on an exploration hike that took their breath away “literally”. Roasted marshmallows and hotdogs by the fire pit, relaxed on the porch taking in the scenery & listening to the sound of the creek TOTAL RELAXATION! Hope to be back soon.

Weekend away
The Place was very nice We were not able to stay at the place due to other obligations that weekend at the college. I would like to go back and enjoy the cabin. For the short time we got to stay it was peaceful and very relaxing.

Pure Peace
We drove up the winding road ready for some peace and quite and a respite from the world. Found it at the top of the hill. Charming, spacious, clean and inviting. We didn't want to leave and hoping to plan a stay in the he fall to enjoy the leaves. Thank you!
4.7
Charming cabin in a great location
While our stay was not long, we loved this cozy, charming and comfortable cabin. It had all the amenities we needed and more. The owners are friendly and responsive. We had a great stay. Our two dogs loved it there too!
4.7
Five stars across the board.
My wife and I decided to stay here for our 7 year anniversary. It was truly amazing place to stay. It was just what we were looking for. A nice secluded cabin in the woods. When we arrived we saw two turkeys run across the well manicured property. Inside was clean with the ol gun range theme. We enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the sound of water from the creek. Overall a pleasant and peaceful stay to get away from it all. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.
