Xavier met us when we arrived and gave us lots of great ideas of things to do off the beaten tourist path. There was wonderful food within easy walking distance, but we also ate at home with a very well equipped kitchen. I highly recommend this place!

We rented the whole house for our annual friends reunion at new year and I have to say the place was simply fantastic. Michel and Ruth could not have been more helpful upon our arrival immeadiatly making us feel welcome and comfortable. There was a fire lit in the main fireplace warming the entire dining room and with christmas decorations up the whole place felt magical and festive. The newly fitted central heating and pellet boiler system meant that the entire house never felt cold and always had a constant supply of hot water. Our group consisted of 15 people but the house can easily accommodate more and it never felt crowded or cramped. The bedroom are all well equipped, large and with comfortable beds with most having en suite facilities. If you are a large group I would also recommend asking Michel about catering options as he helped us in getting food made for us over the course of two days at a local restaurant which was very reasonable, good hearty traditional Galician fare. You have to remember if you rent this house though that it is a very large house and therefore has its little quirks but nothing that any normal person would reasonably have cause to worry about. For example, the wifi didn't work throughout or stay, but personally I preferred it that way as it meant more conversation, games and social interaction and I am sure if we had pushed the issue Michel or Ruth would have resolved the matter very quickly (I am glad they didn't). There is great hiking in the area and don't miss going down to the river and across the stepping stones. All in all I can't praise this house or its owners enough. Michel and Ruth are fabulous people and the house matches them, its a brilliant, reasonably priced gem of a house, highly recommended.

Our vacation in A Lama did have a great start. We arrived in the pouring rain only to find a closed door and no-one there. After asking repeatedly (in e-mails both English and Spanish) for more information, we no longer received any replies. We made a down-payment but still no reply. We did not know what further information the owner needed because he did not tell us. We didn't say at time we would arrive because he never asked for it.
When finally the owner arrived and the door was opened we found out that there was no kitchen or rather the outdoors kitchen was not finished. So how did our trip result in a success?
Michel did his out-most to compensate for this ill-promising beginning. He compensated for the lack of a kitchen by allowing us to eat in a nearby hotel (where we were served by the lovely Carlos) and for a couple of days gave us access to a kitchen in a different apartment. We socialised and had a lot of fun.
The property itself is pretty and spacious. The bubble bath is great. The bedrooms are comfortable although barking dogs in town kept us awake (there are many dogs in Galicia!) The house will be even better when it's completely finished, because it wasn't last week.
All in all we recommend this property. Don't leave anything to chance though. The owner is friendly but seems a bit in-experienced. Ask the questions when he forgets to provide some information. I hope that in the future the communication aspect of this business will be a bit smoother. A knowledge of either Spanish or French is necessary, because he speaks no English. E-mail using google translate will not suffice.
And everyone use the garden. It is too lovely and big to be used just by people renting the main house! Michel wants us all to hang-out, so please do so!
