About this house rental
This is an Upscale All-Season Vacation Property! This Highland Lake home is on two quiet acres with a small sandy beach, shallow entry to the lake (great for kids), 200+ ft shoreline, 50ft dock and all the amenities and activities to create memories for a lifetime. Sitting areas, dining, BBQ, hot tub, porch swing, fire pit, and hammock are all overlooking a beautiful 3 mile long lake within 5 miles of Portland, ME. A large yard offers volleyball, wiffle ball, frisbee, lying in the sun and more. Enjoy the eagles, frogs, turtles, flowers, birds at the window feeder, fish, and more...just outside your door!
New in 2024 is a queen bed upgrade from full bed and new pullout sofa and love seat with 3 new tables. Recent all new kitchen appliances, added half bath, new pots/pans set, and new flooring in two bathrooms and a hall. Very well maintained.
This is a home with all the comfortable living amenities as opposed to typical 'rentals' and thus you see the many 5 star reviews.
What to Expect: This wonderful lakefront home offers all you need for a relaxing lakeside vacation. Enjoy, swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing on the lawn, hammock, float or dock. The property comes furnished with 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, and plenty of life vests. An 8 person hot tub faces the lake. There is a great dock bench seat for morning coffee or watching the swimmers or wildlife, hammock for that afternoon snooze and fire pit for marshmallows and winding down in the evening. There is no off-season here! The hot tub is on year-round. In the fall you can enjoy some spectacular canoe/kayak rides and the plethora of hiking in the area. In the winter, you can ski Shawnee Peak which is just 45 minutes away or Sunday River which is 1.25 hrs away. Highland Lake offers wonderful ice fishing, skating, cross country skiing and beautiful snowmobile trails.
C'mon In! Step in the front door and immediately take in the breathtaking lake views you’ll find along the length of the house through large windows. The living room has several love seats, one that has 2 individual reclining, rocking seats and an HDTV and Bose CD/AM/FM Stereo. Two swivel and rocking (ahhh) chairs overlook the lake and are perfect for that morning cup of coffee watching the sun rise and the birds at the feeder or reading in the afternoon while viewing the kids jumping off the dock and swimming to the float, playing on the lawn, or laughing in Hot Tub just below. Perhaps a change of venue moving to the shade outside on the porch swing under the deck or to the hammock listening to the waves splash gently on the beach. Take an outdoor shower as you enjoy the sounds of nature and view of the beautiful lake.
The dining table is large and there is an additional folding table to extend even further. The island has 4 stools for drinks and chatting while making a meal in the kitchen. There are two ACs for those hot summer days, a beautiful gas fireplace for those chilly winter nights, and everything in the kitchen from lobster cooking supplies to a pancake griddle to serving dishes and even owner spices, oils, and more to use at your convenience. Since this is a home while not rented, there will be all the extras needed that you won't find in a bare bones "rental".
Lake Information: Highland Lake is 3 miles long and up to 3/4 mile across with depths up to 65 ft deep. Highland Lake only offers a public hand carry boat launch for canoes and kayaks which keeps motor boating traffic low. Fisherman find small and large mouth bass, white and yellow perch, and pickerel. Other lake wildlife includes loons with their beautiful calls in the evening, eagles, ducks, blue heron, turtles, beaver, and more.

The house and property are exactly as
Described. The locatuon is beautiful, the house is clean and well stocked with really anything you an think of… we needed to pump up the basketballs and eith little effort found a pump to do just that! Aside from the paddleboat not steering.. which became part if the amusement…the boogie boards, noodles, kayaks, canoes etc were alk put to good use.
The hot tub is always a treat for kids of all ages and that too was clean and easy. We liked that we could see it easily from windows and deck since we had 5 children between ages 4-8.
So much to say, all positive. Thank you Seamus.

Clean, spacious, private and comfortable home. Great for the five of us to be together! Lovely view, walks, ping pong, canoeing, jigsaw puzzling, reading, napping...the property provides so many options. Kitchen has new and great appliances. Seamus is a super landlord and very responsive should questions arise. Fabulous!

Wake up with coffee by the lake and unwind in hot tub.

My family and friends had a great stay at the lake house. There was a problem with the neighbor cutting down trees, using a back hoe, and a chipper for three days straight, very disappointed, with the level of noise. The house was accommodating to our needs.beautiful lake, great area.

Conveniently located to Lone Pine Brewing and the Portland Craft beer scene plus the wedding we attended in Freeport with plenty of room for the brunch we held for our extended family on Sunday. House had everything we needed. Seamus was great to work with.

My friends and I spent a weekend here. The spot was awesome and was very clean. The owner was also very attentive constantly checking to see if we needed anything. Though the weather was crappy, we spent most of the time using the amenities provided such as the hot tub and ping pong table. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

This was a great trip with a few friends celebrating a 30th birthday. Great house with plenty of rooms, ping pong was fun and great views. The property owner is very available if needed and has great communication! Would highly recommend and plan on renting in the future

This Highland Lake property has everything that a family (or multiple families) with young kids could want for a fun-filled getaway. Spacious and well organized house with a basement room that has books, games and ping-pong table; a big, grassy backyard that has a swing set; sandy beach; swim raft; canoes and kayaks (and life vests for every age); a hot tub; a paved front drive for basketball and trike riding. We did it all and loved it all.

Our group has been doing a lakeside getaway every year for the past 9 years, and this may have been the best house we've stayed at. It really has everything one would want -- an amazing selection of boats in which to explore the lake, a nice dock and swimmable water, a hammock spot for reading, a firepit, a hot tub, a ping pong table with enough elbow room around to really have fun, and even a basketball hoop. That's not even getting to an excellent shaded deck, large lawn, and a well-stocked kitchen.Seamus keeps his house in great shape and is an excellent host. He made the booking process very easy, answered all of our questions at a moment's notice, and made us feel very welcome. The house is 20 minutes away from downtown Portland, 5-10 minutes away from grocery stores and wholesale clubs, but feels like it's the middle of nowhere. Can't recommend it highly enough!

We were so impressed with this home! It had enough space for all of the kids, which was essential with ages ranging from 4-13. It was very clean and the owner was extremely helpful. Since it was the end of Dec., we thoroughly enjoyed the hut tub and its ease of use. I would definitely recommend this property!
