About this cottage rental
This beautiful little cottage (camp if you are from Maine) is situated on Highland Lake (Duck Pond) in Falmouth, Maine. Highland lake is a 3 mile long private lake with only one public boat launch that is hand carry only. The camp is located on the eastern shore in a cove with the only beach. The lake is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, beautiful sunsets and wildlife (bald eagles, loons, turtles, beaver etc).
The camp is only 30 minutes from downtown Portland, Maine. Portland is a great city to explore with museums, parks, shopping and dining. Freeport is 30 minutes away with the outlets and LL Bean but also a great state park, Wolfe’s Neck. There are many antique shops in the area as well as access to shopping plazas and restaurants in the neighboring town of Windham. If you like to hike, you can get to the most eastern portion of the White Mountains in less than 2 hours (beautiful drive even if you do not hike that brings you through the lakes region).
If you just want to relax, the camp has a spacious deck with views of the lake or you can walk down to the beach and go for a swim, kayak or lounge around and read a book. If you like to fish, you will need a license and we can provide the information on how to get one. In the evening come down with a snack and camera to watch one of the beautiful sunsets.
The camp is a quaint 2 bedroom (1double, 2 twin), 1 bath cottage blending the old and the new. The camp has a futon couch that folds out to a double bed. The camp has a tv with cable and wifi and good cell phone coverage. We will provide linens for bed/bath and the kitchen has all the amenities that you would need (dishes, pots/pans, microwave, toaster, coffee machine with filters etc). We also have a gas heating stove to take the chill out of the air and a ceiling fan with a wall full of windows facing the lake to cool you. In each of the rooms we have a small fan that can be placed in the window or a small ceramic heater to take the chill out of the bedrooms. Personal items such as soap, shampoo will need to be brought but we will provide the toilet paper and paper towels. Please bring your own lawn/beach chairs . You can bring your kayak, paddleboard or any other hand carry boat (PFDs are required by Maine law). We also have a canoe with PFDs and horseshoes, if desired to use on the beach. Sorry absolutely no power boats or any pets. There is no access to a washer/dryer(guests that stay longer than 1 week may be allowed use of laundry).

Cabin is located ~20 mins from Portland but in a very secluded/private spot. Nice lake and beach (didn’t take advantage of that due to time of year). Hosts were very accommodating.

OUR STAY WAS WONDERFUL AT DUCK POND CAMP! DENISE AND TODD HAVE CREATED A COZY AND PERFECTLY APPOINTED COTTAGE WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT OR IMAGINE YOU COULD WANT. IT IS COZY AND CLEAN AND THE VIEW OF THE LAKE IS AMAZING. THE NATURE IS ENCHANTING AND THE SUNSETS GORGEOUS. A PERFECT GET AWAY YET STILL CLOSE TO PORTLAND.

Beautiful property by the lake. Exceptional cabin. Very clean and a great place to relax. Remote but not too far from town. Denise welcomed us and it was nice to learn some history of the camp. Would definitely stay there again. Maine is a beautiful lush state.

A wonderful week at the lake with family and friends during a difficult time for our family. Denise and Todd did a great job remodeling the cottage with a cozy lake atmosphere.
We would definitely rent again when in Maine visiting family and friends!
Thanks so much,
Peggy and Josie

Beautiful getaway
If we had created the ideal camp in our minds, it would pretty much be this.

Clean little house in a beautiful spot!
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Highland lake. This little house was very clean. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed playing frisbee in the small grassy yard. The kitchen (and bathroom) seemed to be recently updated and provided everything we needed. We even used the little outdoor grill. The large deck included a table and chairs and was partly shaded with some views of the lake. It was a great spot for meals. We enjoyed the beach and the dock, and the canoe. Everything was clean and well cared for. The location is amazing. It felt far away but still close to 95 and Portland. The host, Denise, was helpful and responsive to any questions. We appreciated that she was also respectful of our privacy. We would love to visit again and will recommend this place to others.

Wonderful place!
Only issue was the ants in the kitchen which didn’t seem phased by much.
Really a lovely place otherwise and very nice people that own it and rent it (and are often nearby).

Don't hesitate to book this getaway!!!
If anyone has done VRBO before, you know the hesitation. However, loved what I saw online coming from SC to ME and took the chance. We always worry about the unknowns, but I can absolutely tell you I was blown away. Totally immaculate residence from room to room. The decor was beautiful. Sunset and sunrise from the deck a dream come true. Loved having my coffee on the deck.
We were up for my son's wedding and thank GOD we did not do the hotel! Mother of the bride had bed bugs in her room! (The Ramada don't go)
NOT HERE!!!! My husband and I will definitely stay here again if up North. Denise and Todd, thank you so much for a comfortable and relaxing stay, God bless you!

Just what we were looking for.
We stayed in September and it was nice and peaceful. Not too deserted though, since there are a few year round folks here. We have family in the area and wanted to be near them.
The cottage has been nicely updated yet it maintains some old style charm. Bathroom and kitchen are very new and clean.

Great Maine Getaway
The cottage(camp) was very cute and quiet. It was open and light filled. The wall of windows looked out over the lake and the deck was a great place to read or just relax. Everything I needed was there and the hosts were very nice.

Everything we needed!
We had a great time at Denise and Todd’s camp. We loved the access to the lake. I was able to kayak safely and my husband and son enjoyed fishing in the provided canoe. The proximity to Portland and Maine beaches made our days so perfect. An early morning swim, fish or kayak, then off to a Maine adventure and then ending our day with time on the lake. A perfect getaway!

Perfect week!
I rented this house for my mom to stay in while visiting from Baltimore. It was awesome!! It’s a perfect Maine lake cottage for a relaxing vacation. My mom loved everything- from the sunsets to the access to the water. Also big thank you to Denise who was incredibly easy to communicate with.

A great camp and lake. You won't regret staying here.
We had a great time while staying. Denise and Todd were helpful with all our questions and actually provided things most rentals don't. The camp itself was open and beautiful plenty of room for six. The lake is clean and warm, we enjoyed it everyday. My six year old actually caught his first fish. Also plenty close enough to enjoy time in Portland if you choose. Absolutely no complaints and would rent the camp again!
