Very pretty hostel, friendly staff, but isolating

The hostel is absolutely gorgeous! They also clean your towels/ room everyday, which was nice. The staff are pretty friendly and the common area is well decorated and clean.

The breakfast is not free and there isn’t really a place for travelers to meet/hang out together. Compared to other hostels in Colombia, travelers are definitely more isolated from each other.

Great location, comfy bed, hot water, decor is gorgeous & the communal areas are fab. We really enjoyed our stay here

Fan was mounted approx 15ft up on the wall, so it was pretty useless. However the staff sorted us out a portable one which was perfect.

Peaceful hostel

Hostal Ruta Sur is located in the calm and characterful San Antonio area of the city. Simple en-suite rooms are dark but comfortable, with plenty of hot water. Rooms are arranged around leafy internal courtyards with communal seating. The staff are helpful. The hostel is wonderfully quiet at night, with no noise from the street. Breakfast (not included in the room rate) is available. A peaceful haven.

Highly recommended hostel in San Antonio :)

Lovely hostel in a great location - area felt very safe, loads of nice little cafes/bars/restaurants In walking distance. Room was a good size, very clean and GREAT shower! Great communal spaces and shared kitchen. Lovely friendly staff. Highly recommended all round!

Amazing place! Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable, very clean. Great shower and nice room. Te location is perfect but still quiet at night. And the staff were the nicest! Would definetly come back here :)

Lovely small hostel in a great location.

My only problem is that there was a strong chemical smell in the room. I don't know if it was from cleaner they used or something else but I found it hard to sleep with the odor. Turning on the fan helped but it was too cool for the fan when I was there.

Relax and enjoy best area of town

Claudia and the rest of the staff are so lovely. Best area of Cali to enjoy the food and coffee scene. This is not a party hostel (and there are only private rooms) , guests come for the tranquility. The park nearby attracts couples at night and has an amazing view over the city. The hostal offers a shared kitchen, but it is more worth to try all the creative (and vegetarian) dishes in the area.

No sign outside, but there are enough friendly people to ask for help, if in doubt. :)

Really Enjoyed Staying at this Charming Casa

Claudia (the owner) lives on site and makes sure that everyone and everything is taken care of. And all in a charming garden setting!

The traditional courtyard setting means some of the rooms have windows opening into the courtyard, so less privacy. However, the big plus is the absence of street-facing windows also means a much quieter setting.

Cosy place

the place is a very cute colonial house with a fantastic location in the heart of San Antonio. very quiet at night so perfect to rest. the breakfast is great. the best of all is how the staff is taking care of everything, always helping you with everything you might need, making you feel like home.

The location was good, a refuge from slightly edgy atmosphere of Cali. Short walk away from center of town in a beautiful neighborhood. Pleasant decor. Good shower, hot and strong. Good WiFi.

beautiful house and great service

The house is beautiful and location is very convenient, next to cool restaurants, cafes and at walking distance to the rivers main avenue. Staff is very friendly, all women, they always made us feel at home. They sell breakfast in the morning and it was very good and at a good price. The San Antonio neighborhood was safe to walk around and explore. If we ever come to Cali, we would definitely stay here again
