About this cabin rental
Bring your event here: Family Reunions, Snowmobile club, ATV club, Golfing, Girls weekend, Corporate trip, or Fishing buddies! ...or just bring a few family & friends and have fun in this spacious home with a large backyard! Enjoy all that the north woods has to offer in this comfortable, amazing home and setting. Located near the Chetac chain of lakes, we enjoy spectacular views, abundant wildlife and plenty of outdoor activities year–round. We’re on the Tuscobia ATV and Snowmobile trail and hikers enjoy access to the Ice Age Trail.
This property does NOT have lake access, but there are 2 public boat landings on Big Lake Chetac or plan to discover all of the lakes in the area.
Park your trailer and hit the trails, across the road from our home, to recreational trails for ATV/UTV, snowmobiling, biking and hiking. The Tuscobia Trail is the main off road/ATV trail. Running for about 65 miles, it is well marked and easily accessible. The ATV/Snowmobile trail is just across the road (Cty Rd F) from where you turned into our driveway. In addition, The Ice Age National Scenic Trail, a thousand-mile footpath entirely within Wisconsin is nearby to hike some of the state's most beautiful natural areas. For biking, the Chequamegon National Forest offers endless hours of trails.
Watersports are #1 on everyone's list. Our lakes have room for all water sports: swimming, water-skiing, sailing, pontooning, canoeing, paddleboats, kayaks or wave runners. Big Chetec is a great lake for recreation and fishing with over 2,000 acres of 'boatable' water to explore. There are multiple places on the lake to rent fishing boats or pontoons so that you can enjoy the sand bar on the lake as well as a couple of islands to explore and potentially camp on.
Golf is one of our best-kept secrets. The area offers an array of golf courses ranging from Championship to Executive. Tagalong, an 18-hole course patterned after St. Andrews in Scotland is challenging and fun. There are no less than 7 other courses within a short drive. If you enjoy golfing, bring the clubs along.
CHECK OUT ALL OF THE LAKES IN THE AREA...
RED CEDAR LAKE:
Red Cedar Lake rivals Big Chetac Lake in size (1,841 acres) but is considerably deeper (53 feet maximum) and more varied in structure. Many a walleye fisherman has spent years studying Red Cedar, always coming away with a sense that there's still more out there... more bars, ridges and shoreline to explore. Walleye, perch, bluegill, crappie, northern and bass move freely between Balsam, Red Cedar and Hemlock Lakes.
THE NARROWS & BIG BIRCH LAKE:
Around here, 'The Narrows' refers to the channel flowing south between Big Chetac Lake and Big Birch Lake. Big Birch is significantly smaller than Big Chetac but offers unique differences. Its 368 acres contain deeper water (73' max. vs. 24' mean depth) and more structure (bars and drop-offs) for that most elusive game fish - the walleye. At the southern end of Big Birch Lake is the popular Village-run Doolittle Park , with swimming, lakeside camping, RV hookups and a boat landing.
LITTLE BIRCH:
Little Birch is the impoundment of water just prior to the Birch Lake Dam. Fishermen like Little Birch for its shoreline, good for bass and panfish.
BIG CHETAC: (we are next to this lake)
Big Chetac Lake has its beginning in Edgewater flowing south to The Narrows near Birchwood with 1,920 acres of northern pike, walleye, bass and panfish. Maximum depth is 28' and averages 12-18". Motor trolling is permitted. Big Chetac Lake spreads out into slough like areas favored by bass and other predator fish. Weed beds provide cover for large schools of panfish, always a favorite in the frying pan. Big Chetac Lake still maintains a northern ambience, with a feeling of uncrowded freedom. Fall and winter fishing is also popular.
SPIDER LAKE CHAIN:
The Spider Lake Chain consists of five lakes totaling approximately 300 acres and total linear distance of 3 1/2 miles. The Spider Lake area is unique in its lack of development (most of the surrounding land is county-owned). There is a generous dose of wilderness here. A small boat or canoe is the best way to fish these lakes. Shallow channels connect them and over a dozen islands provide structure. The irregular shoreline gives these lakes their "spidery" appearance. Northerns, largemouth bass, crappies and bluegills are the main fare.
LONG LAKE:
Long Lake in Washburn County is clear and deep. Its 3,290 acres is advertised as the "walleye capital of Wisconsin" but northern, bass and numerous panfish and cisco populate its waters. A mean depth of 26' (max 74') and its almost 100 miles of shoreline also make Long Lake ideal for sailing. There are five public landings from which to launch your boat.
WINTER: "Bring on the Snow!" is a cheer echoed by all as the last leaf of autumn hits the ground. When the snow flies and our lake freezes over is when the true outdoor adventurer comes alive.
The thrill of snowmobiling can be found on hundreds of miles of local trails that are part of the largest network of snowmobiling trails in the Midwest. County and community clubs ensure a smooth ride by their dedication to grooming, signage and trail maintenance.
Step into your cross country skis and off you go out our backdoor or across the lake. Looking for picturesque cross country trails, then try Nordic Woods, Beaver Brook, Ice Age Trail, or the famed Birkebeiner Trail.
If you think fishing is over once the boats are off the lake, think again. Get your tipups, jig poles and ice shanty ready for some real fishing fun.
Visit historic Stout Island: Stout Island has been captivating visitors for nearly 150 years. By landing on these historic shores, you’re joining a long list of adventure-seekers.
This is a great place to come any time of year with nearby attractions in Birchwood, Hayward, Spooner, and Rice Lake.
If you prefer to stay at home you can enjoy our rec room to take on a game of Pool or ping pong. You can also choose to snuggle up with a good book on the porch or by the firepit.

Wonderful wooded privacy get a way for large families. Many private bedrooms, with large deck and fire pit for gatherings. Garage had ping pong and pool table to hang out to spread people out. With 4 bathrooms it was never a problem with our group of 12 adults. Having two large picnic tables on the deck was great for dinners along with a table inside that seated 8. Lots of parking for two large trailers we had for side by sides. Would rent again if in the area.

It was a nice stay. Simply wish we’d have been closer to water.

Property was perfect for our guys weekend away

We had 13 adults and teens for an ATV trip. This VRBO was perfect, with lots of space and plenty of parking for trailers. Great location for trails.

Property met all off our expectations and needs, loved the inside the garage room and outdoor fire pit and deck. Everything went smooth, the main level toilet flush thing stopped working within a few hours but didn’t cause any problems with us. Appreciated the early check in

This was our second stay here. We need space that fits 5 families (three generations) and there is something here for all ages. We had an issue with the wifi on the first day but it was resolved within an hour or two.

This home worked out great for use when our group went trail riding.

This is our third year staying at this property for a fall SXS trip. It is perfect location for a group with lots to do at the cabin and right across the road from the trail system. Highly recommend!

House is in a good location for trails, but not really close to anywhere else. We had 5 couples and everyone was comfortable.
Place needs updating, stove did not light, screens were missing on most of the windows, and the kitchen/ dining room was very dark. Twin beds in basement were not real comfortable for adults, but it worked ok. Loft window did not open.
All in all though, cute house, we would stay again.

This place was everything we wanted and more! Very spacious, well kept, and entertaining. It has more than enough bathrooms, space, and sleeping locations to accommodate large groups comfortably. The location is great, although there is no lake access on the property, it's only a short distance away. The entertainment room in the garage was great for keeping everyone entertained while it rained.

Nice place to stay and close to ATV trails. Second time we stayed there and this time with our wives. Five couples enjoyed our stay and all the activities in the area.

Property size suited are purpose and we had a great time. Property needs some upgrades and attention to details, lighting was a little dim specially in the living room and kitchen. Some mattress preference complaints to be expected sent email to John on issues to be addressed. Still was a nice property with great location to areas trails, stores etc.

Was okay but needed more furniture no chairs in the bedrooms. over all it was good

We were a party of 13 over-60s gathered for a family reunion. We had ample space to fulfill our goals, to sit around, talk and enjoy each other's company. Having 2 ovens was wonderful for meal prep, and having the pantry for storage made the kitchen more friendly.

This place was very well taken care of. Plenty of space to spread out and have separate areas, so people are not on top of each other. We utilized the game room in the garage every night after the kids went to bed. Ping pong was our favorite. But they had a pool table, a poker table and even a spot for checkers. The hosts are very quick to respond to any questions or issues that arise. We would definitely stay here again.

Overall our stay (8 men, all family) for 4 nights was fine. Spacious, quiet, lots of outdoor space for games. We placed a lot of emphasis on cooking; we could have used more pots and pans. And there were a few unfortunate glitches. There was water leaking into the game room due to a problem with condensation from the AC. We were unable to use that room until it was repaired on the third day of our stay. Also, the neighborhood dumpster, which sits at the end of the driveway, was full when we arrived and was never emptied. There was a noticeable odor coming from the dumpster from time to time (depending on which way the wind blew) when we were outside.

This is our 3rd time staying here with our group of 14! Always a good time! Lots of space!
Only negative is that some of the items in the game room could use some replacing (only one ping pong ball, paddles are coming apart). Very minor and kids adapted.
Currently planning our trip for next year!

This is a nice property that can accommodate many. You are across the street from an ATV route that takes you right to the ATV trails. Large deck with nice furniture. Nice accommodations. We used the game room to hang out in one night and worked great for all of us to be in the same space. Very nice and I would stay here again!

It was nice for our group to be able to spread out when we needed space and be together when we wanted to be together. The upper kitchen had everything we needed.
After using the front door for our initial entry we decided we didn't want to track snow and ice melt in through the foyer so we used the garage entry and that worked great. The temperature fluctuates greatly in the house. It's 4 levels with one thermostat so it was tricky. We will definitely stay again.

Great stay. Wonderful game room where we spend daily with family tournaments. Very comfortable beds, which is such a plus. Lots of room for everyone. Owners are great , needed to switch our dates, & they replied immediately . Highly recommend

We've stayed here before, wouldn't be back if it wasn't as advertised. Very nice, no issues.
Thank you!

Great home, excellent location for my large group for an annual snowmobiling trip. Plenty of room for our 11 person group and the area was very close to the one of the main trails. Amy was great to communicate with and very responsive. We will certainly plan to keep this as one of our favorite locations for next year!

We rented this beautiful place to be together with our entire family (16 total with 11 grandkids!) what appealed to us most was plenty of sleeping area and the nice game room. We were disappointed that the game room was unheated, so we did not play ping pong or pool. Later, in talking to the owner, we learned the heat ducts could be uncovered to allow heat into that space! It would be good if that could be made clear on the VRBO site. As it turned out our family didn't come at the last minute, but it would have been challenging to keep all occupied during subzero temps, without that game room!!! We'll know better for next time! All in all it was a beautiful and relaxing stay!

Had a wonderful weekend this house offers something for everyone and plenty of room as well!

Everything was as advertised and the owners were very accommodating.

Wonderful stay again this year! We had 14 people-6 adults and 8 kids ranging from 7-14 years. Great space for everyone, both inside and out. Spacious deck with seating for all, game room is a hit, and so much space for everyone to space out. We’ll be back again!

Beautiful house with plenty of room for everyone. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

I brought a bass club up here for a weekend at the local lakes. The house had everything we needed including tons of sleeping options and plenty of parking for 10 rigs. Great spot, we'd do it again

This was the perfect location for our group of 5 couples. Each couple was able to have their own space and we all enjoyed the common spaces together. During our stay we had one day that was cool and drizzly so we took advantage of the garage game room and had our own fun game day. The fire pit and deck were favorite places to hang out. Having pontoon rental nearby was appreciated and definitely recommended.
The house was well-stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend this location to others.

This property worked well for our group. We had a lot of kids and the top floor bed room was perfect for them! Everybody loved the game room and fire pit! The location puts you right next to a lot of lakes however, this property does not have water access (which we knew about before hand so it wasn't a big issue).
5.0
There were 10 adults and 3 kids. We stayed for a week on a family vacation. We rode side by sides several days and the access to the trails directly across the road was great. The trail system in the area is also very good. We also rented a pontoon boat from a resort less than a mile up the road. So overall the location is great. The house has everything a person can need and 2 sets of washer and dryer is a big plus. Kitchen is ample sized to serve numerous people and is pretty well stocked with pots and pans. There is also a full kitchen in the basement which is nice. Having 2 full fridges is great. Ample bathrooms. The basement bathroom could use some updating but is servicable. The layout of the bedrooms is pretty good but the upstairs bedroom with 4 queen beds should really be split into 2 bedrooms. The outside area is great. A really nice firepit area and a deck large enough to fit everyone with ample seating. Overall a great value at everything you get.

Excellent property
We had an excellent stay in this beautiful home. If it had lake access it would be perfect but otherwise everything else was outstanding. The house was extremely clean and lots of different things to do with a large extended family.

The house had everything they needed. Thank you Amy

Great family getaway
This was a lovely home where my family gathered for a weekend. The home was clean, had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and the game room was quite a hit! The deck and fire pit area were well used- and we all fit inside nicely when it started to rain. The only downside was the dumpster on the property was quite stinky while sitting outside (even after it was emptied), but otherwise, this was a great find and I thought worth the price!
